INTRODUCTION The Little Brown Jug is part of the small but ever growing Pub/Restaurant company Whiting & Hammond. Situated in the small village of Chiddingstone Causeway in the beautiful Kent countryside, we serve up traditional wholesome British food using the best of local ingredients and suppliers, along side good cask ales and an expansive wine list. nnually we hold a Beer & Music Festival, as well as frequently offering live music on Friday nights and Discos held throughout the month of December to celebrate Christmas. PRE-RRIVL For full details and maps on where we are located please see the Find Us section on our website. The nearest railway station is Penshurst, located just across the road from the pub. The nearest bus stop is located a 2 minute walk down the road in the village of Chiddingstone Causeway; accessible via the pavement running alongside the main road. There is a shelter with bench seating. The No. 233 and 231 bus services run between the areas of Edenbridge and Tunbridge Wells. CR PRKING ND RRIVL There is free parking on site for patrons of the pub. The car park is located to the side of the building and has 27 allocated spaces, with further space for parking available across the front of the car park entrance at busier times, as well as use of the church car park located a 2 minute walk up the road. It is approximately 35metres from the furthest point of the car park to the entrance. There is no allocated Blue Badge/ Disabled parking bays. The car park surface to the main entrance is flat tarmac with 2 steps leading up to the front door. There is also a entrance to the side with no steps for disabled access. There is a large drop off point out the front of the entrance. The car park has lamp posts around the surrounding areas to provide visibility. The front door is 900mm/35.5inches wide, leading in to a porch area where there are a set of double doors each 720mm/28inches in width. BR & BR RE ND DINING RE/RESTURNT The bar and restaurant areas are both on the ground floor with level access between the two areas. Drinks are usually served at the table within the restaurant, and if required within the bar area too. To the left hand side of the bar there are bar stools and low sofas. Both the bar and restaurant have a mixture of upright chairs with and without arms. Tables are well spaced with a clear average height from the floor of Lighting is a mixture of natural daylight along side wall lighting and candles throughout both the bar and restaurant areas. There is background music in the bar area. There is a mixture of wooden flooring and tiled areas in both bar and restaurant. We always endeavour to do our best to cater for specific dietary requirements, however if you are planning a visit to us, then give us a call to make sure we are aware as we can always order in special dietary ingredients. We use, where possible, local suppliers and therefore local produce. We offer full table service in our restaurant only, however at other times it is also available within the bar area; although you are always welcome to order at the bar. Our breakfast is a la carte and can be booked in advance if required. CUSTOMER TOILETS Customer toilets are located to the left hand side of the bar, with level access from the restaurant and bar areas. They have down lighters in both male & female toilets; tiled floors and half tiled walls with bright cream coloured walls above. 720mm/28inches in width; accessible using a RDR key kept behind the bar which can be collected upon request. Entrance door to the toilet itself is 890mm/35inches in width. Toilet height is 480mm/19inches. When facing the toilet, there is a fixed horizontal rail to the right hand adjacent wall; an adjustable rail to the left which may be moved up or down to allow the user to position their wheelchair next to the toilet; as well as 2 vertical rails behind the toilet. There are vertical rails situated either side of the basin. There is well lit fluorescent lighting over head, which is permanently on throughout business hours; and non-slip laminate flooring. There is a red alarm pull cord located next to the toilet for emergencies. BEER GRDEN/OUTDOOR RE/SMOKING RE The beer garden and patio are open all year round, situated to the side of the pub they are accessible both through the bar, restaurant or straight from the car park area. There is level access to the main patio area, where there is also a raised patio with 4 steps up that leads on to the grassed area of the garden. There is also a ramp up in to the garden. The patio consists of both wooden bench tables and wooden tables with separate wooden chairs or benches that can be freely moved if necessary. Within the grassed garden area there are wooden benches throughout. Located at the side of the grassed garden area, furthest from the road is a childrens play house, formed in the shape of a tree which consists of a slide; steps to raised level; a swing; a rope swing; firemans pole; and hiding place underneath. The main feature within our garden are 3 wooden gazebo structures, Little Brown Huts which are for hired use all year round at a cost of 25 per session. The huts can each sit a maximum of 8 people and come with cushioned seats; walls that can be folded up or down depending on weather and privacy requests; heating and lighting held within the ceiling; and most importantly offer full table service outside through the use of a pager call system located within them. DDITIONL INFORMTION Dogs are allowed within the bar and garden areas only and there is a water bowl available if needed. There is free wi-fi available within the site. ll of our staff receive regular training that includes disability awareness training. Located within our front porch is a leaflet stand where you can find information on local walks; popular attractions; and local theatre productions.
