Maserati Global Gathering "Tour Downunder" for Maserati Clubs Worldwide Welcome to the latest news on the inaugural Maserati Global Gathering. We are now able to release further details and pricing for the event. As announced earlier, the event will take place over 7 nights and the Entry Fee will include high quality accommodation (4 and 5 star), all meals and wine (with the exception of 1 free night and 2 lunches) and ancillary costs such as parking, entry fees, buses where required and security for the cars. Entry is open to all members of recognised Maserati Clubs and caters for Maseratis of all eras. The Tour The Tour will take place as a road trip over seven nights, commencing on Tuesday 20th March 2018 and finishing in Sydney on Monday 26th March 2018. The Tour starts at Torquay on the Great Ocean Road which is about a 1¼ hour drive from Melbourne. Accommodation is at the luxurious RACV Torquay Resort which is set on 40 acres with sweeping views over the ocean and bushland. Following cocktails and a "welcome" dinner the first evening, we will spend the next day touring the Great Ocean Road, one of the world's great drives, before returning to Torquay for the second night. The following day we will travel to Bendigo in the Victorian goldfields with accommodation at the Schaller Studio and dinner at the fabulous and historic Fortuna Villa. Next we will drive through the Northern Victorian wine areas to Albury with lunch planned at one of the many wineries. The Northern Victorian wine area is noted for it's wide variety of wines and particularly for its "big reds", muscats and ports. In Albury we will be staying at the Atura Hotel and it is planned to have dinner at a nearby cattle station on the banks of the Murray, Australia's largest river. It is then on to Canberra, Australia's capital city, where we will stay at the iconic 5-star Hyatt Hotel Canberra which is located near both the old and new Parliament Houses as well as Lake Burley Griffin. The following morning we will attend Auto Italia, Australia's premiere event for Italian cars and motorbikes before travelling to Sydney that afternoon. In Sydney we will stay at the 5-star Shangri-La Hotel in the historic Rocks area with sweeping views over Sydney Harbour. The Hotel is well located near Circular Quay, the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. We will have a free evening in Sydney to allow participants to have a look around the Sydney waterfront at their own pace.
The final Day will include a trip on the famous Manly Ferry across Sydney Harbour with lunch at your leisure and we will finish with a Grand Finale function that evening at the Sydney Opera House. While the "standard" accommodation will be high quality, the "deluxe" level will allow for even more luxurious rooms at those hotels where it is available. Please note that there is a limited number of "deluxe" rooms and these will be allocated on a "first-come" basis, based on when a deposit is received. There is also two shorter 3-night options available to provide for local members who may be unable to participate in the full itinerary. The 3-night options are for "standard" accommodation. Support The event is supported by Maserati SpA and Maserati Australia and New Zealand. A support truck, provided by Maserati Australia & New Zealand, with mechanic and tools will accompany the Tour to minimise any problems cars may have.
Pricing All payments will be in Australian Dollars (AUD). The overseas currencies are shown at the current exchange rates for information purposes only. All prices are for two people based on either double or twin share accommodation. We urge those who are interested to pay their deposit as quickly as possible. Two complimentary bottles of premium Australian wines will be included in the Welcome Pack for those who pay their deposit before 31st December 2016. Shipping Costs We have also obtained indicative shipping costs for the return transport of cars to and from UK (Suffolk), Europe (Rotterdam or La Spezia/Genoa) and Los Angeles (Long Beach). Please note these prices may vary as shipping costs cannot be guaranteed until closer to the event. Also, prices are based on current foreign exchange currency rates which may also vary between now and the event. However, it is not anticipated prices will change much from the levels shown below. While we have organised shipping deals with a preferred supplier, participants will make arrangements for transporting their car directly with the shipping company. The following prices have been provided to us and include all standard port costs at departure and arrival for both directions. Any quarantine costs that may be incurred are not included, although these should not be needed if the cars are cleaned properly before departure. These prices are per car and are based on two cars sharing a 40 ft container. Before and After The Tour For those who want to spend a few days in Melbourne before the Tour, we are happy to assist with accommodation and we will organise a pre-tour event. Also, we are currently arranging with a travel agency should you require assistance in organising trips to other parts of Australia either before or after the Tour.
