to NYU Medical Center (550 First Avenue) Manhattan is easily accessed by both bus and subway. Fares for both the subway and the bus is $2.25. On the bus, you must pay the fare with exact change, OR you may pay with a pre-paid "MetroCard", available for purchase at each subway station and at some stores around town displaying the MetroCard decal. MetroCards may be purchased for multiple rides ($2.25 each), or unlimited rides on a one-day pass ($8.25) or on a one-week pass ($27). Subway: The 6 line runs up and down the east side of Manhattan, and the 28 th Street or 33 rd Street stops are closest to the NYU Medical Center. When you exit the subway station, you will need to walk to 1 st Avenue between 31 st and 32 nd Street. The Medical Center s main entrance is between 31 st and 32 nd Streets, and the School of Medicine entrance is located in the main lobby. From Penn Station: Take the A, C, or E trains uptown to 42 nd Street Times Square stop. Transfer to the "S" or "7" train across town to Grand Central Station. From Grand Central take the "6" train downtown one stop to 33 rd Street. When you exit the subway you will be on Park Avenue South, which is walking distance away from both the hotels and conference site. From Grand Central Station: Take the "6" train one stop to 33 rd Street. Bus: The closest bus lines are the M15 lines, which run uptown on First Avenue and downtown on Second Avenue, and the M23, which runs cross-town on 23 rd Street. Taxi: Yellow "medallion" taxis can be hailed on the street for short or long trips. Taxi fares vary depending on the distance and travel-time involved. Walking to NYU Medical Center: From Union Square: Facing North, at the corner of Park Ave. South and 16 th street, turn right and walk East on 16 th Street towards 1st Ave. Turn left onto 1st Ave. and walk North to 31 st Street. The Medical Center main entrance is on the right between 31 st and 32 nd Streets, and the School of Medicine entrance is located in the main lobby. From 23 rd and Park Ave. South: Walk East on 23 rd Street toward 1st Ave. Turn left onto1st Ave. and walk North towards 30 th Street. Parking Street parking in Manhattan is very limited. There are many parking garages located in the vicinity of the hotels and NYU Medical Center. Most garages have Early Bird Specials (enter garage between 6-10 a.m. for 12 hours of parking) for rates of $12-18. Day Specials (park for 12 hours) are typically priced $15-22. Some garages may have discounted rates for weekend parking. Please be sure to read all posted signs regarding parking times and pricing. Parking violation tickets in New York City are exorbitant.
