Day 1: Sunday, October 1, 2017 Overnight Flight Depart for a journey through Belgium and France. Bask in the military history of these two countries. Day 2: Monday, October 2, 2017 Brussels, Belgium Arrive in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and home of the EU Parliament. Tonight, get a taste of the region during a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D) Day 3: Tuesday, October 3, 2017 Brussels - Bruges - Brussels Take a step back in time in the Imperial city of Bruges. Narrow canals lined with charming Patrician houses bring to life the splendour of by-gone days. Allow yourself to journey back into medieval times with a leisurely paced walking tour led by a local resident through one of Europe s most perfectly preserved cities. Next, the choice is yours continue your exploration on foot through undiscovered Bruges with a lacemaking demonstration, or experience the city on a serene canal cruise. Later, enjoy free time to discover Bruges on your own. (B) Day 4: Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Brussels - Ghent - Brussels Enjoy a full day excursion to the city of Ghent. Discover the history of one of the most beautiful towns in Belgium on a walking tour. Immerse yourself in the culture and unique architecture. See the medieval Castle of the Counts of Flanders, St. Baafs Cathedral and Graffiti Street. Have some time to explore the town independently and try one of the great local restaurants before returning to Brussels. (B) Day 5: Thursday, October 5, 2017 Brussels - Waterloo - Bastogne Today you will travel to the historical city of Bastogne. En route, you will stop in the influential city of Waterloo. See the Lion s Mound monument located at the heart of the battlefield. Next, drive to Dinant located along the Meuse River. Enjoy time at leisure before visiting the Citadel which overlooks the city. Witness amazing views on the cable car ride to the top. Continue onto Bastogne, your home for the next two nights. (B, D)

Day 6: Friday, October 6, 2017 Bastogne Learn about one of the key events of the Second World War when you visit the Bastogne War Museum. The vast military museum focuses on the Battle of the Bulge and its integral role in the war. Next visit the 101st Airborne Museum Le Mess. This realistic museum will take you back in time, as it honors the brave soldiers that fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure to explore the lovely town of Bastogne. (B) Day 7: Saturday, October 7, 2017 Bastogne - Luxembourg City - Metz, France Depart Bastogne and stop in Luxembourg City. Enjoy free time for lunch and independent exploration before heading to Fort Hackenburg. Here you will learn about one of the largest Maginot Line fortifications constructed by the French military after the First World War. Continue to Metz. (B, D) Day 8: Sunday, October 8, 2017 Metz Today visit the sites of the Battle of Verdun, one of the largest and lengthiest battles fought in World War I between the German and French. Next, visit the largest American military cemetery in Europe, Meuse- Argonne. The 130.5 acre cemetery and memorial is dedicated to the soldiers that lost their lives during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. (B) Day 9: Monday, October 9, 2017 Metz - Épernay - Reims Travel to the village of Épernay. Set on the banks of the river Marne, it is home to the world s leading champagne makers. Stroll down the most famous street in Épernay, the Avenue de Champagne, before making a visit to one of the cellars dug here between the 4th - 15th centuries. Here we enjoy a guided tour and a tasting of the notable champagne varieties. Continue to ancient Reims where you will take a locally guided walking tour. Visit the Square des Victimes de la Gestapo and the location of the World War II treaty signing. (B, D) Day 10: Tuesday, October 10, 2017 Reims Spend the day visiting sites from World War I. Visit the site of the Battle of Belleau Wood. On the site sits the commemorative Chateau-

Thierry monument atop a hill and overlooks Marne Valley and Marne River. (B) Day 11: Wednesday, October 11, 2017 Reims - Saint Malo Drive to Saint Malo, Brittany s famous coastal village. Here you ll be immersed in the beautiful beaches, striking blue waters, and views of the fortified Old Town. (B, D) Day 12: Thursday, October 12, 2017 Saint Malo - Le Mont St. Michel - Dinan - Saint Malo Travel to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Le Mont St. Michel, the Wonder of the West. Cherish the breathtaking views of this pilgrimage site that rests on the border between Normandy and Brittany and sits on the edge of the sea. Stroll through the old city at the base of the village before exploring one of the most beautiful abbeys in France, which dates back to the 11th century. Next, journey to Dinan, one of the best preserved medieval villages in France. Meander through streets lined with halftimbered houses and along the ramparts overlooking the pictureperfect port village. (B) Day 13: Friday, October 13, 2017 Saint Malo - Huppain Port-en-Bessin Set off for the Normandy coast. During WW II, the largest invasion in history took place here. Enjoy an insightful visit to the Memorial Peace Museum, built to commemorate those who died in the epic battle of Normandy in 1944. Later, see the remains of the artificial Mulberry port built near Arromanche-les-Bains where the allies resupplied their lines during the liberation of France before making your way to the hotel. Tonight, enjoy a dinner at a local bistro in the charming village of Porten-Bessin. (B, D) Day 14: Saturday, October 14, 2017 Huppain Port-en-Bessin Enjoy a full day Canadian Memorial Tour. Visit landing beaches, such as Utah and Juno. Next, visit the Omaha Beach Cemetery where the valiant soldiers who gave their lives in the Battle of Normandy are memorialized. (B) Day 15: Sunday, October 15, 2017 Huppain Port-en-Bessin - Lille See where over 700 Newfoundlanders were killed or wounded on the first

day of the battle at Beaumont Hamel during World War I. Go to Memorial Park and view the bronze caribou statue erected as a tribute to the brave soldiers. Next, visit Vimy Ridge Canadian War Memorial. Continue onto the quaint town of Lille. (B) Day 16: Monday, October 16, 2017 Lille - Flanders Field - Ypres, Belgium - Lille, France This morning visit the Tyne Cot Cemetery where 11,962 Commonwealth servicemen of the First World War are laid to rest. Next visit Flanders Field, a major battle theatre in World War I. Visit the expansive Flanders Field Museum in Ypres. Learn about the history of the battlefield and see some of the brave soldiers stories. After your farewell dinner, witness the Menin Gate nightly post ceremony. This ceremony takes place every night under the Menin Gate in Ypres. The moving ceremony is a tribute to the courage of those who defended their town. (B, D) Day 17: Tuesday, October 17, 2017 Lille - Brussels, Belgium - Tour Ends Drive to Brussels where you will depart. This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.
