The Green Park Hotel 2018 Scottish Winter Nature Break with Russell Nisbet This Course will comprise two indoor and two outdoor (weather permitting) sessions of two hours each. In each we will discuss Scotland s Wildlife with the emphasis being on the bird-life, although we will also touch on mammals and trees in winter - plus what to look out for in the coming spring. At the indoor sessions, there will be a tea / coffee on tap in the lounges. The indoor sessions could include talks on Local Wildlife, Bird Identification Made Easy, Migration or Bird Calls. If the weather is pretty inclement, all sessions could be in the warmth and comfort of the hotel or we could pay a visit to bird-watching hides. The tutor is Russell Nisbet who has spent over 20 years wardening nature reserves around Britain plus tutoring at the nearby Kindrogan Field Centre as well as being a teacher/naturalist for the Scottish Wildlife Trust at the Montrose Basin, an assessor of holiday parks for the David Bellamy Conservation Awards and leader of wildlife holidays.
Thursday the 8th of February So as to make the most of your day, feel free to arrive any time from midmorning onwards. Complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available in the main lounges - please just help yourself. 6.00pm. The first organised activity will be a sherry reception in the main lounge. This will give you the chance to meet your hosts from the Green Park, your tutor Russell Nisbet, as well as your fellow guests. 6.30pm - 8.30pm. A four course dinner will be served in the dining-room, followed by coffee, tea, and shortbread in the lounges. During all of the Scottish Nature sessions complimentary sparkling and still mineral water will be available - please just help yourself. Friday the 9th of February 8.30am - 9.45am. A full Scottish breakfast will be served in the dining room. From 10.00am - morning session Scottish Winter Nature session with Russell. Each day a buffet lunch will be served in the dining room. This lunch will be available between 12.00am and 1.30pm. From 2.00pm - afternoon session Scottish Nature with Russell. From 6.00pm. A pre-dinner Sherry reception in the main lounge. From 6.30pm - 8.30pm. A four course dinner will be served in the dining room, followed by coffee and shortbread in the main lounge.
Saturday the 10th of February 8.00am - 9.45am. A full Scottish breakfast will be served in the dining-room. From 10.00am - morning session Scottish Winter Nature session with Russell. Break for a buffet lunch in the dining room from 12.00am to 1.30pm. From 2.00pm - afternoon session Scottish Winter Nature session with Russell. From 6.00pm. At 6.00pm. Russell will bring the Nature Break to a close by hosting a bucks-fizz reception in the main lounge. From 6.30pm - 8.30pm. A four course dinner will be served in the dining room, followed by coffee and shortbread in the main lounge. There will be a dance in the Sun Lounge after dinner - feel free to join in!
