ABBA Trade Mission to Colombia 20 th November 6 th December 2018 Itinerary at 12 June 2018 Rich in natural resources and the second-most biodiverse country in the world, Colombia's economic fortunes are rapidly improving. The top 10 agricultural commodities are sugar cane, milk, plantains, cassava, bananas, rice, potatoes, chicken, palm oil and beef. Colombia is the world s second-largest coffee producer, grown on 20 per cent of all cultivated land, most of which is exported. Beef is the 10th most produced food in Colombia with approximately 40 million hectares used for raising cattle; over 60% of which are in tropical areas. Colombia has the 7th largest cattle herd in the world with 30,576,000 head, up from 23.6 million in 2008. It was the 6th largest cattle exporter in the world in 2013. Approximately 25% of the Colombian national beef cattle herd are Brahman and other Zebu breeds.

The Colombian Brahman registry is the largest in the world and Colombian Brahman breeders have demonstrated a keen interest in improving their Brahman genetics. This Trade Mission will give participants an opportunity to evaluate how Australian Brahman genetics can contribute to the genetic development of the Colombian Brahman industry as well as interact with international visitors from throughout the Brahman world. ITINERARY Day 1. Depart Australia/Arrive Bogota Tue 20 Nov Assemble at Sydney international Airport for the flight to Colombia via Chile. 1250 hours Depart on Qantas flight QF 27 for Santiago Cross the International Date Line and arrive the same day 1110 hours Arrive Santiago and transfer to onward flight to Colombia 1505 hours Depart on Lan Chile flight LA 576 for Bogota 1859 hours Arrive Bogota where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel near the airport Meals: Inflight Overnight: Bogota Day 2. Bogota Yopal Wed 21 Nov Depart Bogota after breakfast and transfer to the airport for a private charter flight from Bogota to Yopal (note luggage limit per passenger is 15 kilos only) On arrival, transfer to the hotel to check in luggage the travel to Hacienda Mararave, a private property owned by Mr Robert Valenzuela, and one of the best Brahman properties in the area. Mr Valenzuela commenced breeding pure Brahman cattle when managing a commercial operation of 17,000 Brahman cattle. His constant need for bulls led him to breeding pure Brahman cattle (approximately 200 per year). The visit will offer the opportunity to see cattle on pasture as well as show cattle. Special lunch on farm of ternera a la llanera, a typical dish of the region consisting of meat seasoned with salt, spices and beer and cooked over a wood fire. After the visit transfer to the hotel. Meals: B L D Overnight: Holiday Inn Yopal Yopal, the capital of the department of Casanare, is located about 4.5 hours from Tunja and 4 hours from Villavicencio. With about 150.000 habitants, Yopal has a small airport that operates direct flights to and from Bogotá (50 mins) and Bucaramanga. It is known as the gateway to the infinite Llanos plains, a place of spectacular sunsets where cowboys herd zebu cattle. Yopal is a paradise for birdwatchers with over 600 avian species in the department of Casanare. Many can be spotted near Yopal on trails and fincas, so pack your binoculars!

Day 3. Around Yopal Thu 22 Nov Breakfast at hotel followed by a visit to another Brahman operator in the region. Lunch at Subacasanare, the largest livestock auction in Colombia which sells 2000 animals each Thursday. Fattened bulls and cows are slaughtered, and lean cattle are sent off for fattening. After the visit travel to Hacienda la Malaguena, a Brahman feedlot which grows silo corn. Later transfer to the hotel for the dinner in the hotel restaurant. Meals: B L D Overnight: Holiday Inn Yopal Day 4. Yopal Bucaramanga Fri 23 Nov Depart Yopal after breakfast and transfer to the international airport for the flight to Bucaramanga. Bucaramanga, the capital of Santander, is one of Colombia's major cities with a greater metropolitan population of about one million. It s a city of many skyscrapers surrounded by mountains and national parks and is a pleasant place to get a taste of local culture. Agricultural and horticultural production on the outskirts of the city include plantations of tobacco, coca, pineapple and corn. Local industries include the production of shoes. Meals: B L - Bucaramanga Overnight: Hotel Tryp, Day 5. World Brahman Congress Farm Visits Sat 24 Nov Transfer to Cenfer for the World Brahman Congress. For the next 2 days you will have the choice of visiting farms and ranches in the Cordoba area, Magdalena or Cesar areas. World Brahman Congress - Seminars Mon 26 & Tue 27 Nov Seminar program led by major speakers from Mexico, Australia, USA, Uruguay and Colombia where issues such as genetics, reproduction and nutrition of the Brahman breed are being tackled. The technical committee will present on a number of national and international examples of successful operations that have had a significant impact on the pure-bred Brahman breed commercial cattle enterprises. WBC - Cattle Judging & Auction Wed 28, Thu 29, Fri 30 Nov and Sat 1 Dec Attend four days of cattle judging (stud and commercial) and auction of four spectacular breeds of cattle - Brahman, Gyr, Guzera and F1 breeds as part of the Brahman World Congress. This will be the 71 st National Cebu Fair with exhibiting stock, judging, auction sales of Cebu breed examples, the traditional milking competition and a grass roots program echando raíces all providing an interesting and varied program for the national and overseas cattlemen and women. Plaza de Armas, the grand heart of the city s old colonial core, is home to two neoclassical landmarks: the 1808 Palacio de la Real Audiencia, housing the National History Museum, and the 18th-century Metropolitan Cathedral. La Chascona is the home-turned-museum of poet Pablo Neruda. The city has a downtown core of 19thcentury neoclassical architecture and winding side-streets, dotted by art deco, neo-gothic, and other styles. The city outskirts are surrounded by vineyards and Santiago is within a few hours of both the mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Overnight: Santiago

In the event of deviation from this rate, Quadrant Australia reserves the right to increase prices or make refunds according to the impact the fluctuation has had on land content prices in the country or countries to be visited. Confirmation will be provided in writing within 7 working days, together with all necessary receipts and invoices. FINAL PAYMENT AND AMENDMENTS Final payment is due 90 Days Prior to Departure. Payment can be accepted after this date, however they will be subject to availability of flights, accommodation and other tour inclusions. An amendment fee of $50 will be charged for any alterations to your booking, after confirmation has been sent. Any changes made by you after the full payment has been made will incur a minimum of $100 fee plus any charges imposed by airlines, hotels and operators, and will be subject to availability of the requested changes. ACCOMMODATION Tour prices include accommodation throughout on a twin share basis (unless otherwise specified). For passengers travelling alone, it may be necessary to pay a single supplement, however in some special circumstances we may be able to assist with sharing arrangements. Agreements are solely between the passengers concerned, and the company accepts no responsibility for compatibility. Single rooms may be smaller than twin bedded rooms. The Firm shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss of or damage to any property or otherwise (including baggage) whether due to its or its servants agents or employees negligence or otherwise arising out of or in connection with any accommodation, transportation, technical visits or other services or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, (dangers incidents to the sea), fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of governments or other authorities, force majeur or de facto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, acts of terrorism, thefts, pilferage, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations of or changes in itinerary or schedules or overbooking or default, or from any causes beyond the firms control. Also for any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents, and that neither the firm nor its servants, agents or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expense or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of any of the foregoing causes. Participants should be aware that programs such as this visit rural and research properties, parks and conservation areas and occasionally stay in home hosted farm stays, safari camps and on houseboats. In addition our programs may also utilise services and accommodation provided on river and other cruise/water based vessels. Such visits carry inherent potential risks, including but not limited to health risks and injuries from livestock and other animals, equipment as well as trails, roads and tracks. Participants accept such risks as inherent to such programs. As there can be moderate walking requirements to experience the activities of this program, there is an expectation that participants will have an adequate level of mobility including the ability to enter and exit coaches unassisted. Quadrant Australia maintains the rights to cancel, without refund, their services to clients who falsely accept the booking conditions without fully declaring mobility impairments. Unused services cannot be refunded or exchanged. The Firm reserves the right to cancel the tour and/or modify the itineraries in any way it thinks desirable and further reserves the right to decline to accept any person on any tour and may substitute hotels where necessary.
