Cigre Study Committee B5 Annual Meeting And Colloquium Madrid SPAIN 15 20 October 2007 (Bulletin 2 April 2007) The Spanish National Committee of CIGRE welcomes Study Committee B5 (Power System Protection and Automation) to hold its 2007 Meeting and associated Colloquium in Madrid.
The Venue Palacio de Congresos de Madrid, the most experienced convention centre of Spain, has been chosen as venue for the Annual Meeting and Colloquium of CIGRÉ Study Committee B5. It is located in the heart of Madrid, within walking distance of many hotels, restaurants and shops. Its location, accessible by all means of transport, will also facilitate tours to the historical part of Madrid, its sights or museums. http://www.madridconventioncentre.com/ The Programme The program will extend over the whole week and will allow for the B5 Annual Meeting of Regular Members, Observers and Working Group Convenors and the two day Colloquium. Time, has also been allocated for Working Groups and Activity Groups meetings and huff day Tutorial. The week will be rounded off with an optional post event tour. The Study Committee Meeting The Study Committee B5 meeting will be held on Friday October 19, 2007. The Colloquium The Colloquium will be held on Wednesday and Thursday 17 18 October 2007. The Colloquium Papers The absolute deadline for the receipt of the papers is 31 May 2007. Papers are to be forwarded in electronic format, by e-mail to the Secretary of Study Committee B5. The list of papers will be provided separately and will also be published on the Colloquium website http://www.clubeventos.com/cigre/ The Poster Panel Every author of an accepted paper will be given the possibility to display their work in the poster session in the afternoon of Thursday October 18. The poster session is an interesting opportunity both for authors and visitors. Authors can present some specificities of their papers, while visitors can discuss directly with the authors. The location of the posters will be in the heart of the conference area. All authors have simultaneously a dedicated area for discussion and presentation. Space for wall presentation (about 1,5 square meters: 1m x 1,5m) will be available. The Tutorial The Tutorial will be held in the afternoon on Tuesday October 16. The subject for the tutorial is Impact of Numerical Technology on the Application of Protection and Control Systems. The presentation will be held in the following parts: 1. Introduction in Impact of Numerical Technology on the Application of Protection and Control Systems. 2. Fundamentals and New aspects an functionalities. 3. The impact of IEC 61850 4. Practical Demostration This part will be led by several Spanish utilities with assistance of representatives of relay suppliers. The objective is to give the participants an opportunity to learn about the new application opportunities of numerical technology. Fault analysis and protection data information system. Two different systems in operation -one 61850 based- would be presented to show the experience, benefits and opportunities of new information
techniques for the management of protection departments and improvement of protection systems reliability. 61850 Engineering tools. A practical case of configuration of a new substation would be presented, in order to show the new standard facilitates the design of new substation and makes possible a relevant cost reduction. Possibly the application to refurbishment of protection could also be shown. Integration of busbar protection function in feeder of a 30/45 kv meshed substation. A demo with IED would be presented to show a very interesting example of functional integration related with PS1 and PS2 of the colloquium. The Technical Exhibition In association with the Colloquium, a Technical Exhibition on the subject of Protection and Automation Systems will be held during Wednesday and Thursday. About 15 companies will present their Control and Protection products in stands organized in a special area adjacent to the meetings place. Accompanying Person s Tours Two guided visits are organized for accompanying persons: -Wednesday 17: Historical Madrid Tour, including, the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor or the Puerta del Sol and guided visit to the Museo del Prado. -Thursday 18: Guided visit to Real Sitio of Aranjuez and Chinchón. Two places near Madrid filled up with history that deserve a visit. Aranjuez famous for its palatial buildings, royal residence during the reign of the Catholic Kings. To highlight; the Palace, gardens and the Casa del Labrador. Chinchón, very old city, preserves the charm of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The Post Event Tour and Technical Visit A visit to Toledo will be done on Saturday. Its historical city centre sits on a craggy rock and almost completely encircled by a wide meander of the Tajo river, with more than 100 monuments. Toledo is a city where the Christian, Jewish and Moslem cultures mixed. Ancient Visigothic capital and a mediaeval centre of knowledge. Today it is one of the most important historical-artistic enclaves in the world. Its churches, Jewish quarter, synagogues, as well as the cathedral, create an insuperable historical atmosphere. This has led UNESCO to declare Toledo as a "World Heritage City". We will lunch in a typical restaurant of Toledo and then we will have free time to visit the city. The tour includes a visit to the Renewable Energies Operation Centre.
