INDIAN BUILDINGS CONGRESS Mid-Term Session & Seminar on State-of-The-Art Building Technology The Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) was founded on 1st September 1992 and registered as a Society on 29th March 1993, with its headquarters at New Delhi. The vision of the organization is to build environment, which is affordable, aesthetic, cost competitive, technology driven and capable of meeting the needs of the Indian masses. In order to meet its objectives, IBC is striving continuously to bring all professionals connected with built environment on a single platform so as to form collective opinion on subjects related to Building Industry and project the same for consideration of the Government from time-to-time. MID TERM SESSION On the invitation of the Govt. of Bihar, IBC will be holding its Mid-Term Session & Seminar on State-of-The-Art Building Technology on 26-28 April, 2013 at Patna. The Mid-Term Seminar, apart from conducting business like holding of Governing Council Meeting will also comprise of a Seminar on the theme of State-of-The-Art Building Technology. Members of the IBC and professionals of Government Departments, Housing Boards, Development Authorities, Town and Country Planning Organisations, State PWDs, Teaching & Training Institutes, Builders, Developers, Architects, Consultants, Contractors and all others interested in the design, planning, construction and maintenance of buildings are cordially invited to participate in this Session. THEME OF THE SEMINAR The theme of the Seminar would be State-of-The-Art Building Technology. OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINAR Construction Industry has taken a great leap in the new millennium. We have entered a new phase in the era of globalization and liberalization with new techniques, new concepts, new materials, computer aided designs, highly sophisticated construction equipments and machinery, varieties of grades of cement, steel and other materials, which are revolutionizing the construction scenario in the country. We have an opportunity to realize our true potential by bringing in professionalism and global expertise in all areas of construction activities. This is the right time to make this industry modernized, technologically upgraded and globally competitive through effective project design, planning and implementation. 1
Different buildings like educational, medical, commercial, sports complexes, airports, railway stations, interstate bus terminals, underground structures, multi-storey buildings, etc. have different design and functional features. Construction industry in 21st century can be well shaped by effective role of various professionals by setting up standards, design of components, adoption of R&D and co-ordination and speedy implementation of building projects. It can play an important role to economize the cost of construction without affecting functional behaviour and ensuring reliability and durability of structures. It is, therefore, proposed to have deliberations on emerging trends on Stateof-The-Art Building Technology in different categories of buildings under Planning & Design : Innovations New Materials : Flooring, Cladding, False Ceiling, Roo ng, Insulation, Glass, Green Materials, etc. Modern Construction Machinery Innovative Techniques & Technologies : Space Structures, Green Buildings, Value Engg., Construction Management including Risk Management Recent Developments in Building services : Building Automation, Fire- ghting, Air-Conditioning, Water treatment plants & Sewage treatment plants, D.G. sets, Lifts, etc. Case Studies.
