Torrington, the Lord in Waiting to the Queen, appointed by Her Majesty to be in attendance on The Shah and will meet His Majesty at Gravesend. On arrival at Gravesend His Majesty will embark on board the Steamer Duke of Edinburgh, where He will be received by His Royal Highness. His Majesty s Attendants and Baggage will be landed at Gravesend and sent from thence to Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace. The Steamer will then proceed to the Stairs at Westminster, where it will arrive at 6 o Clock Field-Marshal His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge,K.G., will here await His Majesty s arrival and accompany Him to Buckingham Palace. His Majesty will be received on landing at the Stairs at Westminster by the Master of the Horse, The Duke of Portland, and will be conducted by him to the Queen s State Carriages, in which His Majesty accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses, will then proceed to Buckingham Palace, escorted by a Field Officers Escort of Life Guards by Whitehall, the Horse Guards, and the Mall, St James s Park, which will be lined with Household Troops. A Guard of Honour will be stationed near the Landing Place. On arrival at Buckingham Palace, where a Guard of Honour will be stationed, The Shah will be received by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, with Their Royal Highnesses The Princesses Louise,Victoria, and Maud of Wales, attended by Her Royal Highness The Princess Louise, Marchioness of Lorne, and the Marquis of Lorne, K.T., will also be present to receive His Majesty. The Great Officers of Her Majesty s Household, The Treasurer and The Controller of the Household, The Vice-Chamberlain, The Captain of the Yeomen of the Guards The Master of the Household, and the Comptroller of The Lord Chamberlain s Department will also be in attendance to receive His Majesty. The Gold and Silver Sticks in Waiting and The Field Officer in Brigade Waiting will also be in attendance. A Guard of Honour of the Yeomen of the Guard will be on duty in the Palace. The Great Officers will conduct His Majesty to the Bow Drawing Room, where The Royal Family will take leave of His Majesty. The Lord Chamberlain The Earl of Lathom will the conduct The Shah to the Private Apartments prepared for His Majesty s reception, after taking His pleasure as to His further wishes. His Majesty will dine in private.

Tuesday, 2 nd July, 1889 The Shah will receive The Corps Diplomatique accredited to the Court of St James s in the Bow Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace, at 11.30 o Clock. They will be presented to His Majesty by The Persian Minister at this Court. At 12 o Clock The Principal Members of His Majesty s Government will be presented to His Majesty by The Lord Chamberlain. His Majesty will be attended by The Great Officers of the Queen s Household, The Right Honourable Sir Henry Drummond Wolff, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., Major-General Sir Henry Rawlinson, K.C.B., The Lord and Equerry in Waiting, General Sir Francis Seymour, Bart., K.C.B., Her Majesty s Master of The Ceremonies, The Master of the Household, The Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain s Department, and The Gentlemen Ushers in Waiting. Levee Dress will be worn. A Guard of Honour will be mounted in the Court Yard. His Majesty will leave Buckingham Palace at 12.30 o Clock, on a visit to Her Majesty The Queen at Windsor Castle. His Majesty will be accompanied by His Royal Highness The Prince Albert Victor of Wales, K.G., His Majesty s Suite, and by The Lord in Waiting and Equerry appointed by The Queen to attend upon His Majesty. He will be conducted to His Carriage by The Vice-Chamberlain The Viscount Lewisham, in Levee Dress, and a Travelling Escort will accompany His Majesty to the Paddington Station, where, as well as at Buckingham Palace, a Guard of Honbour will be stationed. A Special Train will leave the Paddington Station at 12.55 0 Clock, and will arrive at Windsor Station at 1.40 o Clock, where a Guard of Honour will be mounted, as also in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle, The Route from the Station to the Castle will be lined with the Household Troops, and a Battery of Artillery will be stationed in the Long Walk to salute His Majesty on His arrival and departure. His Majesty will be received at the Station by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince Christian of Schleswig Holstein, K.G., and The Prince Henry of Battenberg, K.G., with The Gentlemen in Waiting on Their Royal Highnesses, where an Address will be Presented to his Majesty by the Mayor and Corporation of Windsor. His Majesty will then be conducted to the Carriage, in which, attended by a Field Officers Escort of the Life Guards, He will proceed by the Long Walk, and through George IV. Gateway, to The Queen s Entrance of the Castle, where His Majesty will be received by The Queen and The Royal Family, attended by The Mistress of the Robes The Duchess of Buccleuch, The Great Officers, The Field Officer in Brigade

Waiting, The Silver Stick in Waiting, and the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Household in Waiting. Levee dress will be worn. The Yeomen of the Guard will line the Staircase under the Command of the Exon in Waiting. The Captain and Clerk of the Cheque of the Corps will also attend. A Dejeuner will be served for the Royal party and for The Suite at 2 0 Clock. At 3 o Clock, His Majesty will take leave of The Queen, and will return to Buckingham Palace with the same proceedings as on His departure. His Majesty will dine privately in His Apartments at 7.30 o Clock. After which His Majesty will visit the Royal Italian Opera in State, attended by His Suite. At 8.45 o Clock, a Guard of Honour will mount at Buckingham Palace, and a similar Guard will also attend at Covent Garden Theatre. A Captain s Escort will accompany The Procession to the Opera and on its return. Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, with the Princesses Louise, Victoria, and Maud of Wales, and The Princes Albert Victor and George of Wales will meet His Majesty at the Opera at 9.15 o Clock. Their Royal Highnesses The will also meet His Majesty at the Theatre. The following Officers of the Household will be in attendance on His Majesty :- The Lord Steward. The Lord Chamberlain. The Master of the Horse. The Treasurer of the Household. The Comptroller of the Household. The Vice-Chamberlain. The Gold Stick in Waiting. The Captain of the Yeoman of the Guard. The Field Officer in Brigade Waiting. The Silver Stick in waiting. The Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain Department. Two Gentlemen Ushers. The Exon of the Yeoman of the Guard. The usual Guard of Yeomen of the Guard will be in attendance at the Theatre. The Dress to be worn by The Household will be Full Dress with Trousers.

On arriving at the Entrance to the Theatre, The Lord Chamberlain will receive His Majesty, and precede Him into the Royal Box. The Persian National Air will be played by the band, and God save the Queen will be sung on His Majesty s arrival. On leaving, when the Opera is concluded, God save the Queen will be played by the Orchestra, and the Persian National Air will be played while The Lord Chamberlain conducts The Shah to His Carriage. The Procession will return in the same order as on arrival. Wednesday, 3 rd July, 1889 At 12 o Clock The Shah will leave Buckingham Palace in State on a visit to the City. His Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and attended by the Lord in Waiting and the Equerry appointed by The Queen, and the principal Members of The Suite will proceed by Pall Mall, the Strand, Ludgate Hill, and Cheapside, in Her Majesty s Carriages to the Guildhall, where the Procession will arrive at 1 o Clock. Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, with Their Royal Highnesses The Princess of Wales, The Prince Albert Victor, K.G., and The Duke of Cambridge, K.G., will meet His Majesty at the Guildhall, where His Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses will br received by The Lord Mayor and Corporation of the City of London, and conducted to the Library, where His Majesty will be presented with an Address, in a Gold Casket, by The Lord Mayor. A Procession will then be formed to the Guildhall, where a Dejeuner will be served, after which His Majesty and the other Royal Guests will return to Buckingham Palace. Levee Dress will be worn. The Streets will be lined with Troops, and Guards of Honour will be stationed at Buckingham Palace and at the Guildhall. A Field Officers Escort will accompany The Procession to the Guildhall, and on its return. The Great Officers of Her Majesty s Household will be in attendance at Buckingham Palace on His Majesty s departure for the City and on return, and the Royal Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard will line the Grand Hall and Staircase. The Route of the Procession on return from the City will be by Queen Victoria Street, the Embankment, Whitehall, The Horse Guards, the Mall to Buckingham Palace. At 8 o Clock the Shah will dine with The Earl Cadogan at Chelsea House, and will be accompanied by a Travelling Escort.

A State Ball will afterwards be given at Buckingham Palace, in honour of His Majesty, at which a Guard of Honour will be mounted. Thursday, 4 th July, 1889 In the afternoon at 5.30 o Clock, The Shah will be presented at a Garden Party, at Marlborough House, given by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, at which Her Majesty The Queen will be present. A Travelling Escort will accompany His Majesty to and from Buckingham Palace and Marlborough House. The Shah will dine privately in His apartments and will afterwards be present at an Entertainment given by Sir Albert Sassoon, C.S.I., at The Empire Theatre, where Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, and other Members of the Royal Family, will also be present. His Majesty will be accompanied by a Travelling Escort to and from the Theatre. Friday, 5 th July, 1889 His Majesty The Shah, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, K.G., will travel by The South Western Railway and will be present at Kempton Park Races. A Travelling Escort will accompany His Majesty to and from the Station. After dining with The Earl of Rosebery in Berkeley Square, The Shah will be present at a State Concert given in His Majesty s honour by The Royal Commissioners, at the Royal Albert Hall, at 9 o Clock. His Majesty will be received by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, K.G., and the Council of the Royal Albert Hall at the Royal Entrance, at 10 o Clock. His Majesty will be conducted to the Dais in the Amphitheatre, when the second part of the Concert will commence with The Persian March. Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, The Princesses Louise, Victoria, and Maud of Wales, and other Members of The Royal Family, will be present at the Entertainment. The Great Officers of Her Majesty s Household will be in attendance at the Royal Albert Hall to receive His Majesty. A Guard of Honour will be stationed at the Building outside the Royal Entrance. A Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard will also be stationed within the Building in the Vestibule at the Main Entrance to the Hall.

Her Majesty s State Trumpeters will announce the arrival of The Shah with a flourish of Trumpets. A Travelling Escort will accompany His Majesty. Levee Dress will be worn. Saturday, 6 th July, 1889 At 5.30 o Clock The Shah will leave Buckingham Palace, accompanied by a Travelling Escort, and drive to the Crystal Palace, where He will arrive at 6.30 o Clock, and where He will be met by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, with The Princesses Louise, Victoria, and Maud, and The Princes Albert Victor and George of Wales, and be received by The Directors of the Crystal Palace Company at the Principal Entrance. After visiting the Rose Show in the Pavilion, specially erected for the purpose, The Royal Party will be conducted through the Main Building to the Royal Box. After an Exhibition of Japanese Acrobats and the Performing Elephants, the Great Fountains will play. Dinner will be served for The Royal Party at 8 o Clock, after which there will be a grand display of Fireworks. The Royal Party will leave the Building by the Garden Terrace. Sunday, 7 th July, 1889 Repose. At 4.30 o Clock His Majesty will proceed privately, accompanied by a Travelling Escort, to King s Cross Station, and will be conveyed by Special Train to Hatfield, where He will be the Guest of the Marquis and Marchioness of Salisbury, and where He will meet Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales. Monday, 8 th July, 1889 Garden Party at Hatfield. His Majesty will travel by special train to Berkhampstead, and will drive from thence to Ashridge, where He will be the Guest of The Earl Brownlow, and meet His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, K.G.

Tuesday, 9 th July, 1889 Ashridge. His Majesty will drive to Mr. Alfred Rothschild s, at Halton, and thence to Waddesdon, where His majesty will be the Guest of Baron Ferdinand Rothschild, to meet His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge, K.G. Wednesday, 10 th July, 1889 To Birmingham, where His Majesty will be the Guest of Lord Windsor. Thursday, 11 th July, 1889 Birmingham. Friday, 12 July, 1889 To Sheffield, where His Majesty will be the Guest of The Duke of Norfolk, K.G. Saturday, 13 July, 1889 Sheffield His Majesty will leave Sheffield in the Evening for Liverpool, where He will be the Guest of the Corporation of Liverpool at Newsham House.
