Welcome to Vienna! We are very excited to host the 6 th annual Microsoft European Innovative Teachers Forum. The opportunity to facilitate this event which brings together innovative educators from around Europe to share their experiences and practice is a great honor. The ground-breaking work you and your colleagues have been doing on integrating technology into the curriculum and your daily practice is worthy of celebration. The Microsoft European Innovative Teachers Forum is one small recognition of that work. Most of you have travelled a long way to be at this event and we appreciate the support and commitment you have to education and innovation. With nearly 40 countries and 150 educators participating in this year s event it is our hope that it will be a great educational experience for all involved. We hope that you will build global communities of practice and strengthen those you already have collaborate with colleagues access and share quality content and challenge yourself to go beyond where you are now. 05 I) FORUM LOCATION: HOFBURG VIENNA set-up Time for Teacher Presentations 9am to 2pm on Tuesday March 24 th in the Marmorsaal/Geheime Ratstube the Exhibition stands will be marked with country flags and names Travel to the Hofburg Address: Heldenplatz 1010 Wien. the Hofburg is located in the centre of the Old Town and can easily be reached by public transport. you will be assigned a space to set up your presentations. Please do NOT leave any electronics or valuables in your presentation space. We will not be responsible for stolen items. Reception and buffet lunch this informal get-together starts at 12 o clock on Tuesday March 24 th and will take place at the Hofburg in the Wintergarten. The Vienna Hofburg Welcome and Opening Remarks Every morning we will walk you through each day s agenda and provide you with all necessary information. itf09-awards the European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Awards will be separated into four categories. Each of your projects will be evaluated by a group of judges from around Europe. Important The ITF 2009 Entrance is at the Botschafterstiege ITF09 Entrance Botschafterstiege they will decide on 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd place in each of these categories: Innovation in Collaboration Innovation in Community Innovation in Content. which is not the main entrance. Each of you will receive a ballot. You will be asked to choose 3 exhibits (teacher projects) and rank them from 1-3 Augustinerstrasse Josefsplatz according to your view on Innovation. This will determine the Educator s Choice Award. City ITF-Entrance Botschafterstiege * Entrance Rooftop Galadinner * Schweizerhof the European Innovative Teachers Forum 2009 Awards will be presented at the Gala dinner on Thursday evening March 26 th 2009. The dinner will take place at the Hofburg Vienna in the Rooftop (Dachfoyer). Public transports Important: Every participant will get a three-day ticket at the check-in for using public transports in Vienna. However you only need to continue through the Schweizerhof directly to the Josefsplatz where the entrance to the Gala Dinner Rooftop Lounge will be highlighted.

Vienna is Austria s primary city with a population of about 1.7 million. It is by far the largest city in Austria as well as its cultural economic and political centre. Vienna is the seat of a number of United Nations offices and various international institutions and companies including for example the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) or the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). the Hofburg complex was built between the 13 th and 21 st centuries. Almost eight centuries of constant building activity are reflected in the Hofburg s architecture.
