Camp Briarwood was established in 1964 by Briarwood Presbyterian Church as a Christian camp for boys and girls. The camp is led by Quest Recreation Outreach, a sports and recreation ministry with a global reach under the supervision of Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Each session of camp is designed to offer summer adventures your child will never forget. Camp provides an ideal atmosphere where the physical and the spiritual blend together. Bible discussions, stories, songs and vesper services help children grow in their relationships with God and others. Camp Briarwood is a place of life-changing experiences. Each year, campers come from several states across the U.S. The groups for each camp are as follows: DAY CAMP: Entering Grades 1st 3rd OVERNIGHT CAMP: Entering Grades 3rd 10th SPECIAL CONNECTIONS: Campers with disabilities

LOCATION: Day Camp is held at YMCA Camp Hargis, located approximately 15 miles from Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m until 3:15 p.m. each day. Lunch is provided each day at Hargis. ACTIVITIES: Each session includes hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, B.B. guns and archery. Bible stories and songs help children grow in their relationships with each other and with God. Lunches and snacks are provided each day. COUNSELORS: A ratio of approximately 6 campers to each counselor ensures that each child will receive personal attention. Counselors receive training in all aspects of camp. Tuesday Friday campers should arrive at 8:30 a.m. CHECK-OUT: Check out takes place each day at 3:15 p.m. from the Briarwood Presbyterian Church gym. Anyone picking up a camper must be approved by the camper s guardian in writing, and be ready to show a current driver s license. THURSDAY SPEND-THE-NIGHT: Some sessions offer the option to spend the night on Thursday. These will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and will include a night full of activities, games, movies, music, worship and more even some sleep! A pizza party supper Thursday night and Friday morning breakfast of juice, milk, cereal and pastries are included. Campers should bring a sleeping bag, tooth brush, pillow, etc. PARENTS MEETING: A Parents Meeting will be held Tuesday, June 5 from 5:30 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.

ACTIVITIES: Each special camper participates with typically-developing campers in the full range of camp activities. COUNSELORS: Each camper is assigned his/her own counselor for the week. The counselors are able to attend to the campers specific needs and provide support in order for the camper to participate with a typical camp group. Counselors are trained to understand the specific needs of each camper. Strong emphasis is placed on camper safety and each counselor is trained in safety techniques. DETAILS: There are Day Camp and Overnight Camp sessions available for campers with special needs during select weeks. The camp rates, schedules, check-in/check-out procedures, activities and attire are the same for campers with special needs as for typical campers. Please refer to the other pages of this brochure for this information. REGISTRATION PROCESS: Upon receipt of your registration form and deposit, Special Connections staff will contact you to discuss your camper s specific needs, which sessions are available and to answer your questions.
