Februar 2010 Ongi etorri Welcome to the Basque country! the construction of the Guggenheim-museum and the related - so called «Bilbao-effect» has attracted international attention to Bilbao and the basque country. The rough and green North of the iberian peninsula was so far only internationally known as the area where the pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes through. In the recent decades Bilbao has developed as a metropolitan area to be nowadays one of the most progressive urban areas of the whole country. With the base in Bilbao we will show you Bilbao, its metropolitan area and the Rioja Area with the additional task of architecture as built publicity instruments. In a three-day-programme we are going to explain you in a visual and entertaining way - as architects that live and work on site - the urbanistic and architectural development of Bilbao and San Sebastian.

Only on the secoind view it is possible to detect that all is based on the creation of a new artifical urban topography. local train to Barakaldo Barakaldo Galindo The area of Barakaldo Galindo emerged as a residential area on the site of one of the largest stell plants. The new area links the existing old urban core of Barakaldo with the river Nervión. The development strategies of Bilbao Ria 2000 you can explain and understand very good in this exemplary area. There are three recommendable objects to visit: a football stadium and two public squares. Lasesarre soccer stadium - NOMAD/Eduardo Arroyo Plaza del Desierto - NOMAD/Eduardo Arroyo Plaza Pormetxeta - MTM/Xspiral boat trip with Aperitivo on the river we go with the boat «Euskal Herria» until the harbour and afterwards back to the center of the town. Transporter bridge / Puente Colgante The Puente Colgante - planned by Alberto Palacios/Francois Arnodin is a protected UNESCO-world heritage monument. As the first bridge of its kind with the moving hanging cabin it has been errected 1893 at the entrance to the Nervion s river harbour.
