Information Package for EMRAS II Interim Working Group (WG) 9, Urban Areas, Meeting, Hamilton, Canada June 15-18, 2011 Host organization: Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) Chalk River Laboratories (Figure 1). Sohan Chouhan, Environmental Assessment Analyst, Environmental Technologies Branch, AECL, Chalk River, ON, K0J 1J0, Canada. Phone: 1 (613) 584 8811 + 44709. Email: ChouhanS@aecl.ca Steve Liblong, Manager, Environmental Technologies Branch, AECL, Chalk River, ON, K0J 1J0, Canada. Phone: 1 (613) 584 8811 + 43171. Email: LiblongS@aecl.ca This WG meeting is being held just prior to ICRER conference, in the same city, and all the WG members are also anticipated to attend the conference. Therefore, the material provided below is an add-on to the material available at the conference web site. As discussed below, AECL has already made most of the logistical arrangements (the remaining arrangements will be confirmed soon), and compiled details about the meeting venue, hotels, and transportation. The working group members will have to pay for their own travelling, accommodations, food, and entertainment expenses. AECL will pay for all the meeting related expenses such as coffee, juices, refreshments and stationary. AECL will provide transportation for the Hamilton to Oshawa and Toronto tour. AECL will also provide a lunch/dinner to the WG members if it is required to fit with the meeting or the tour schedule. Sohan Chouhan is the EMRAS II WG Participant from AECL and the dedicated contact point at AECL to coordinate meeting arrangements. It is recommended that the conference attendees request visa application assistance from the conference web page. Additionally, Steve Liblong will help with the visa applications if required. For more info on EMRAS-II, please press CTRL Click at the link below: http://www-ns.iaea.org/projects/emras/emras2/default.asp For more information on the Working Group, please press CTRL Click at the link below: http://www-ns.iaea.org/projects/emras/emras2/working-groups/working-groupnine.asp?s=8

Number of people expected: 15 working group members + 10 other interested Canadian visitors (possible). Recommended Hotel: Sheraton Hotel, Hamilton www.sheraton.com/hamilton, Figure 2. ICRER Conference is also being held in this Hotel. Sheraton has agreed to accommodate our guests arriving on June 14, in the same package deal that they have offered to ICRER-2011 Conference (144$ per night). However because our guests are expected to arrive on June 14 or 15, they will not be able to book it online from the link provided by the ICRER-2011 Conference because that link does not accept check-in date earlier than June 16. Our guests should contact Jenny Wilkins 1 (905)-317-4519, or email her (Jenny.Wilkins@sheraton.com) and mention her Sohan Chouhan s name, and she will assist them with the booking. Guests anticipated arrival airport and date: Pearson International Airport, Toronto, June 14. Pearson Airport to Hotel: Airways Transit provides ground transportation to Hamilton, fee CAN$61, reservation is required. For more information please visit http://www.airwaystransit.com/ or call (519) 886-2121. Hotel to McMaster University: 10 minutes in a Hamilton bus #51, 5c, 52, 5b, 1A (most of the buses on King Street, going Westbound, go to university, see Figure 3). While returning, most of the buses going eastbound on the Main Street (especially marked Delaware ) will come to the Hotel. Both King Street and Main Street are one way streets, so while returning, people will be dropped off at Main Street (at Summers Lane), but a very close walk to the Hotel. Sohan will provide some bus tokens to the WG members on the first day of the meeting. McMaster University Conference Room 15-17 June, 2011, Wednesday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (Figure 4): General Sciences Building, room GSB 329 (28 seats), McMaster University, 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton ON, L8S 4K1. Saturday, Jun 18, Start from Sheraton Hotel, 8 a.m.: AECL will provide the transportation for the visitors and their companions if booked with Sohan 15 days in advance. Additional local people or last-minute deciders will have to arrange their own transportation (Figure 5). Tour 10 a.m. 12 noon: This tour will likely be to Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science, University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Oshawa, http://nuclear.uoit.ca/en/index.html ), but to be confirmed soon. If not confirmed, then some alternative location will be decided. Afternoon: Trip to Downtown Toronto (e.g. CN Tower (Figure 7), or Ontario Place, or Centre Island, and dinner at a restaurant) and reach the hotel around 9 pm.
