Location Aravaipa Canyon Ranch is located just a couple miles from the entrance to the Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness Area, a 19,410 acre BLM wilderness preserve about 50 miles northeast of Tucson, AZ, along the northwest border of the Galiuro Mountain Range. The BLM Wilderness Area is also bordered by an additional 7,000 acre Nature Conservancy preserve. Access to the area is regulated, with only 50 people allowed in the wilderness/preserve on any given day. The Canyon is known for its outstanding scenery, perennial Aravaipa Creek, abundant desert fish and wildlife, and is a popular destination for those seeking the opportunity to enjoy a primitive recreation experience in an area protected from the influence of man. With average high temperatures in July reaching the high 90 s during the day and nighttime lows in the 60 s, and in January average highs in the 60 s and nighttime lows in the 30 s, the area offers year round recreation. Hiking, backpacking, camping, and horseback riding are all popular activities in the area. Hunting is allowed in the Wilderness, but is restricted to those drawn for a limited number of permits. Average rainfall in the area is approximately 10 inches a year, with the majority of that falling during the monsoon season, typically lasting from early July to mid-september. Set approximately 9.5 miles from AZ State Route 77, the property is accessed by the paved E. Aravaipa Rd. Located about 2.5 miles further along the road is the entrance to the Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness/Preserve. AZ Route 77 allows easy access to Tucson to the south and Globe to the north.
