December 2016 Kapolei Elementary School, A Place of Excellence Dear Kapolei Elementary Families, As we end 2016, I would like to highlight the wonderful activities that have been going on at Kapolei Elementary. Congratulations Kapolei Elementary Robotics Team In December, the Kapolei Elementary Robotics Team represented our school at the Hawaii VEX IQ Qualifier robotics tournament held at Pearl City High School. The students participated in a skills challenge, individual driving skills challenge and teamwork driving challenge. We are so proud of the Kapolei Elementary Robotics Team! Congratulations to Grade 5 Boys and Girls Basketball Team On December 5th, the boys and girls basketball traveling team represented Kapolei Elementary at our annual Kapolei Complex basketball competition. The team represented Kapolei Elementary well, showing great sportsmanship throughout the games. Throughout the month of December, the boys and girls basketball home and traveling team participated in intramural competitions. Thank you to their coaches, Mr. Morikawa, Mr. Tokumi, Ms. Richards and Mr. Quemado. Thank You to the Rotary Club of Kapolei The Rotary Club of Kapolei donated and distributed dictionaries to our third graders. We are very fortunate to have the Rotary Club of Kapolei as a community partner! Breakfast with Santa One of the great things about Kapolei Elementary is our annual Breakfast with Santa. This school year, it was held on Saturday, December 3. The families in attendance enjoyed a delicious breakfast, holiday crafts, a picture with Santa, glitter tattoos and much, much more. Thank you to all families who attended the special event! Special thanks to our PCNC and numerous volunteers who helped at the event. IDENTIFICATION BADGE REQUIRED For the safety and security of our school campus, ALL STUDENTS and STAFF members are required to wear a school identification badge. Identification should be worn in a visible location. Do not wear identification badges on the bottom of t-shirt/clothing or on arm sleeves. Identification is also required to receive school lunch and to borrow library books. Thank you for supporting our Holiday Bookfair! Funds will be used to support our classroom libraries. Your support of our second Scholastic Bookfair has earned us the Buy One Get One Free Bookfair which will be held later in the year! We would like to thank all families and staff that donated canned foods and/ or clothing items. The donations were given to St. Jude s church, where they passed them on to families in need in the community. Box Tops for Education Thank you everyone for turning in your box tops. We collected 6,264 clippings for a total of $626.40 Funds will be used for student activities and attendance incentives. Thank you for your support. You are our Heroes!!! Collection is throughout the year, so please continue to send them in!!! Kapolei Village Center School Perks Thank you for saving your receipts from the Village Center. Your receipts from Foodland, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Dominos, Curry House, L&L and many other businesses have put Kapolei Elementary School in first place. The contest ends on December 31, 2016. Continue to save your receipts, write Kapolei Elementary on the top of the receipt and turn it in.
