2003 saw the introduction of a cultural exchange program between Reddam House Schools in South Africa and Australia This year it s Reddam House Sydney s turn to host this event. Students from South Africa are due to participate, including students from Reddam House Constantia and Cape Town, as well as those from Reddam House Johannesburg. We have put together an exciting program and we are confident that it will be most worthwhile and enjoyed by all. Welcome to Sydney
We have gathered from opposite sides of the world united by Reddam. This festival is a very special opportunity to have all the Reddam Schools together in one place. Sydney Tower 11 a.m. Power House Museum 3 p.m. Shopping and late night shopping All meals in the CBD 21 st April - CBD Walking Tour The Tower: Ranked as one of the safest buildings in the world the design has made the Tower capable of withstanding earthquakes and extreme wind conditions. 56 cables stabilise the tower, and if the strands of these cables were laid end to end, they would reach from Sydney to Alice Springs, or from Sydney to New Zealand. The turret has a capacity of 960 persons, and contains two levels of restaurants, a coffee lounge, an Observation Deck, two telecommunication transmission levels and three plant levels. Three high speed double deck lifts take approximately 40 seconds to travel from top to bottom. The 1504 stairs, constantly monitored by security, provide emergency exits. Divided into two fire-isolated sets of pressurised stairs, they allow patrons direct access to street level. Powerhouse: One of Sydney s most distinguished and popular cultural institutions, the museum s extensive science and design collection is thought-provoking, quirky and interactive. You could sit in an electric chair, match wits with an encryption machine, or play catch-up with an industrial robot. The Powerhouse also hosts a superb series of exhibitions on a wide range of subjects. Their publishing wing produces an excellent catalogue of books, brochures and CDs, and the shop is packed with interesting objects.
