This morning we will be introduced to the island on a half day exploration, a must for every visitor! Visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, the Government, laws and lifestyle. Later this evening we are treated to a spectacular Sound & Light Show. Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the convict settlement. The stillness and the stars are there just as they were before mankind arrived in 1788. However, with dramatic use of real life sounds together with theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as we are taken through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island s convict era. Day 3 - Wednesday This morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Following breakfast at the resort you may like to rest, shop, explore or partake in one of your own island activities (at own expense). The choice is yours! At 1pm our next adventure begins as we experience the culture of our forebears on an Island Culture Tour. From mutineer ancestors and their Tahitian Wives came the arts of woodcarving, weaving, cooking and the Norfolk language. On this tour see a demonstration using Norfolk timber, visit island homes for a talk on local cooking and a lecture about the Norfolk Island language. An example of island weaving will be given after an afternoon tea break. Tonight we learn of Fletchers Fate with a truly fascinating evening of interactive theatre, intrigue and mystery. This entertaining play, examines the possible last movements and final whereabouts of the famous mutineer, Fletcher Christian, dramatically acted out by a 6 character cast over a sumptuous 3 course dinner.
Day 4 - Thursday Following breakfast at the resort we are taken on a tour Behind the Hedges. Travel to Anson Bay to visit a small hobby farm, which has been instrumental in improving the local livestock industry. We visit Norfolk Island Cottage Pottery for a demonstration and a chance to browse the shop. After a delicious morning tea at a scenic location, we visit a beautiful private and commercial garden that supplies the local florists with stock. Day 5 - Friday An early dinner this evening at Barney Duffy s Restaurant, Norfolk s best steak house before seeing descendants of the mutineers bring the story of the famed Mutiny on the Bounty and historic events to life in an entertaining 90 minute show performed in an outdoor amphitheater on Norfolk s western coastline. After breakfast this morning we depart for this mornings Green Fingers Tour, featuring some of the island s most lovely gardens. Throughout the morning we visit a nursery owned and operated by a young Norfolk Islander, a private fruit and vegetable market garden as well as visit a gorgeous private garden with spectacular views of Kingston and the Nepean and Philip Islands. Our local historian will give a talk on this area with a history dating to 1788. Morning tea is served in a scenic location then back to the resort for some free time.
Tonight you are in for a truly memorable experience with a fun night out for all ages! Dress as a convict and join with the commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting and singing. Enjoy great food and fun and see why a Night as a Convict is the most popular feature dinner on Norfolk (outfit supplied). Day 6 - Saturday This morning we are picked up bright and early at 7am from the resort. We forgo our usual breakfast and instead will be treated to a Breakfast Bush Walk. Take your choice of a stroll through One Hundred Acres Reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. At the end of both walks we meet on the cliff top for a delicious breakfast. Tonight we enjoy a 3 course meal progressing to different island homes. You will join a group of other Norfolk Island visitors and be taken to carefully selected island homes where you will hear Norfolk stories from your dinner hosts. The Progressive Dinner is a fun night and a great way to meet the Island People.
