Commercial Burglaries: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information None Reported: Tips: Do not display valuable items in windows when closed for business Contact the Southfield Police Crime Prevention Bureau for a free security inspection (248) 796-5409 Home Invasion: Date/Time Address (block range) Method of Entry Description/Suspect Information From: 01/03/2018 6:00pm To: 01/03/2018 7:00pm 29000 Fairfax St. There were no signs of any force. Officers were dispatched to a vacant dwelling currently offered as a rental property. The property was reportedly broken into on or about Wednesday 01/03/2018 between 6:00pm- 7:00pm. The side door has a lock box. The property manager states unknown suspects arrived in a Dark Dodge Pickup Truck bearing an Ohio registration and removed the furnace and hot water tank from the residence. From: 01/04/2018 7:00am To: 01/04/2018 10:10pm 25000 Shiawassee Rd. No signs of any forced entry. Possibly the balcony sliding door wall. Victim states sometime between 7:00am- 10:10pm someone entered apartment possibly through the sliding door wall. The apartment was ransacked and several items are missing from the apartment. Victims dog was removed from the apartment as well and was found in the laundry room in the basement of apartment. It appears the suspect injured himself during the Home Invasion, possibly when scaling to the upper

balcony. There was suspected blood in several locations throughout the apartment. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and collected several samples of the suspected blood. 01/06/2018 2:26pm 23000 Providence Dr. Apartment door was pried and kicked in. Victim states she left her home around 9:00am. When she returned at 2:30pm she discovered that the door to her home was damaged. Stolen: -1 Purse -1 Wallet Green -1 Driver s License -1 Social Security Card -2 Credit Cards Observations: The door appeared to be pried or kicked open. The lock and assembly were ripped out of the door frame.

01/07/2018 7:28pm 24000 Edgemont Dr. No signs of forced entry. Victim advised that a known suspect has done work for her and the neighbor across the street and that the neighbor across the street has been letting the suspect stay with him. Officers found boot prints that are at the back door that leads to the basement. Officers followed the boot prints from the victim s house to the house where the suspect was staying. (24000 Block of Edgemont). The suspect was not at home. The resident allowed officers to come in and look around and check the area where the suspect has been keeping his clothes. Nothing was located. There were several items taken from victim s residence. The suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. Status RS Recovered Stolen Manufacturer FORD Model TRANSIT Color WHI - White Vehicle Year 2016 Body Style VN - Van or Panel State AZ License Year 2018 Description U-Haul Van Officer was on routine patrol at Telegraph Rd. and Nine Mile Rd, when he conducted a lein check on vehicle and it came back stolen out of Detroit. Officer continued to follow vehicle to 9 Mile & Lahser Rd. The vehicle was stopped for the Red Light at Lahser Rd. but then accelerated through the Red Light and went n/b on Lahser Rd. Officer activated his lights and siren and the suspect vehicle stopped. Additional Officers arrived on scene and the driver was taken into custody w/o incident. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Detroit. The driver was arrested for R&C Motor Vehicle and DWLS.

01/02/2018 6:45am 10000 Corporate Dr. (Hotel) Status S - Stolen Manufacturer FORD Model ESCAPE Color GRN - Green Vehicle Year 2013 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year Description Green 2013 Ford Escape Victim states sometime between 01/01/2018 @ 12:00pm- 01/02/2018 @ 6:00am someone stole her 2013 Ford Escape. The vehicle was parked over night at Hotel in the 10000 Block of Corporate Dr. 01/06/2018 11:50pm 21000 Dartmouth Dr. Status SR - Both Stolen and Recovered Manufacturer DODGE Model RAM TRUCK Color BLK - Black Vehicle Year 2010 Body Style 4D - 4 Door State MI License Year 2018 BLACK DODGE RAM 1500 Recovered Date/Time 01/06/2018 11:51pm Victim states sometime between 5:00pm- 11:50pm someone stole his 2010 Dodge Ram P.U. Truck that was parked in his driveway. Victim states the truck also has an aftermarket Radio and chrome aftermarket wheels (approximately 20-22" 5 spoke). The truck was used for work and had two table saws in the back with miscellaneous tools. Also inside the truck was victim s laptop. On 01/09/2018 DPD recovered the vehicle. No further information about the recovery. Tips: Never leave your vehicle running unattended Park in areas where your vehicle is viewable if possible Use commercially available security devices

Larceny: Date/Time Address (block range) Item Taken Details From: 01/02/2018 5:00pm To: 01/03/2018 6:23am 18000 W Thirteen Mile All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2015 Chrysler 300S Victim states sometime between 5:00pm and the following morning at 6:23am someone broke out window on vehicle, entered vehicle, located the wheel lock key and then stole All Four Wheels & Tires from the vehicle. The suspect(s) also removed the rear seat to gain access into the trunk. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens with Wheel Locks for their wheels should attempt to conceal the Wheel Lock Key in a place that would be very difficult to find. Center console and glove box are the first-place suspects will look!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 01/03/2018 8:40am 18000 W Thirteen Mile Window was broken out and vehicle was gone through. While Officers were investigating above incident they located another vehicle, 2017 Dodge Challenger that had the driver s door window broken out and the vehicle had been gone through. The owner of the vehicle couldn t be located and its unknown if there was anything taken from the vehicle.

01/03/2018 8:15am 18000 W Thirteen Mile The In-Dash Navigation System was taken from 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Officers were investigating other LFA s in the same complex when they discovered a third vehicle that was attacked. A window was broken out on vehicle and the In-Dash Navigation System was taken. From: 01/02/2018 9:00pm To: 01/03/2018 5:00pm 18000 W Thirteen Mile The In-Dash Navigation System and victims Check Book were taken from his 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Victim states sometime between 9:00pm and the following day at 5:00pm someone broke out window on vehicle and took the In-Dash Navigation System and his check book. This was the fourth vehicle that was attacked at the same location. From: 01/02/2018 7:00pm To: 01/03/2018 1:00pm 30000 Southfield Rd. All Four Wheels & Tires and the vehicles Navigation System were taken form 2017 Dodge Challenger. Victim states sometime between 7:00pm and the following day at 1:00pm someone broke out window on vehicle and took the In-Dash Navigation System. All Four Wheels & Tires were also taken from the vehicle. This incident appears to be related to the four LFA s that occurred at nearby Apartment Complex in the 18000 Block of Thirteen Mile Rd. From: 01/05/2018 10:50am To: 01/05/2018 2:45pm 24000 Southfield Rd. (Private Event Center) All Four Hubcaps were taken from 2005 Ford Explorer. Victim states sometime between 10:50am- 2:45pm unknown suspect(s) stole four of his hubcaps from his 2005 Ford Explorer. The vehicle was parked in the 24000 Block of Southfield Rd. during the larceny.

01/04/2018 6:43am 22000 Civic Center Dr. Common Carrier Package with merchandise was taken from victim s doorway at her apartment. Victim states she ordered several items online. The items were delivered by Common Carrier to her apartment complex. Victim received email confirmation that her package was delivered at 1:47pm on 01/03/2018. When victim came home the package was gone. Someone had taken it. 01/06/2018 1:59pm 23000 Greenfield Rd. (Commercial- Plaza) Wallet containing cash, driver's license, health insurance card, social security card and other credit cards. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Citizens when shopping should never set their wallets or purses down and take their eyes off them, not even for a second. That s all it takes for someone to take your wallet or purse. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Victim states that she left her wallet next to the card reader when checking out of business in the 23000 Block of Greenfield Rd. Inside victim s wallet was an undisclosed amount of cash, her driver's license, health insurance card, social security card, and other credit cards. Officer investigating reviewed the security camera tapes at business and saw victim place her wallet next to the card reader. A black female, behind victim in line, wearing a black pea coat, black and white knit cap, gray pants, and black boots picked the wallet up and placed it in her own purse. Incident is under investigation. Tips: Ensure your vehicle is locked always and valuables are out of sight. Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

Undisclosed amount of Cash, Glasses, Cell Phone and Keys to victims 2015 Lexus RX Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police. If something doesn t appear right or someone looks like they are up to no good, call the police immediately Trust your intuition Victim arrived at his apartment complex in the 25000 Block of Greenfield Rd. after leaving a Club in Detroit. After parking his car an unknown B/M suspect made entry to his vehicle through the passenger door. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded victims cash, jewelry, and cell phone. The suspect then left in an Older Model Gray Pick-Up Truck with no tailgate. The victim did not see a plate on the vehicle. An area check was completed for suspect with negative results. The suspect took victims keys to his car but didn t take the car. Victim was highly intoxicated. Suspect Description: Last Name SUSPECT First Name UNKNOWN DOB (Age) 25 Sex M Race BLACK Complexion Dark Attire Red Coat with Stars on It. Notes Unknown on Height Because He Was Sitting in The Car, No Further Description at this time. Said It All Happened So Fast.

Unarmed Robbery: 01/07/2018 2:59pm 25000 W Twelve Mile (Commercial- Theater) PROPERTY STOLEN: -Black purse containing: - Driver s License -IPAD -Six Debit Cards -Black coat Victim states after watching a movie she called her ex-boyfriend to come pick her up. The ex-boyfriend arrived at the theater with a friend. Victim came out and got into the friend s car and got into a verbal altercation with her exboyfriend s friend (suspect). Victim exited the vehicle and told her exboyfriend she would find another ride. While victim was reaching into her purse, the exboyfriends friend (suspect) ran up and ripped her purse and jacket out of her hands. He got back into his vehicle and fled with her property. Suspect has been identified and incident is under investigation. Tips: Always be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious incidents or persons to your local police

Be on the Look Out Highlights: Special Attention: Assist Other Department (DPD) Homicide Arrest. 01/03/2018 1:30pm 29000 Block of Farmbrook Villa Ln. During the arrest of Homicide suspect a large quantity of marijuana, packaging material and a scale were observed in the residence. Southfield Officers were on scene. A search warrant was drawn up by a Southfield Police Detective and was executed at the residence. Suspected marijuana, containers, packaging materials were discovered throughout the residence. A scale was also located within the residence. The suspected marijuana, containers, packaging materials and scale were all confiscated as evidence. The suspect was taken into custody by DPD regarding their Homicide Investigation. Southfield charges are pending Prosecutor review for complaint & warrant. Threats/ Kidnapping From: 01/05/2018 11:30pm To: 01/06/2018 5:00am 27000 Block of Northwestern Hwy (Hotel) Victim states he is a Lyft Driver and was sent to Hotel in the 27000 Block of Northwestern Hwy on 01/05/2018 at approx. 11:30pm to pick up an unknown male. Victim states he ended up picking up three subjects that forced him to drive them around. Suspect in fear for his life drove suspects around to various locations around Detroit and Ann Arbor. Victim states once at the locations the suspects would distribute suspected marijuana to other unknown persons. After taking the suspects to all the locations, he dropped them off at a house near Joy Rd & Telegraph Rd on the east side of Telegraph Rd. Incident is under investigation. The vehicle was stopped at Northwestern & Evergreen Rd. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of jurisdiction and the driver was confirmed DWLS. Officers searched the vehicle and found a bottle of Prescription Pills. The driver was arrested for R&C Motor Vehicle, Possession of Prescription Narcotic w/o Prescription & DWLS. Felony Warrant/ Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest 01/01/2018 10:06pm Greenfield Rd. & W Eight Mile Rd. Officers were on routine patrol when they stopped vehicle for a traffic violation. After the vehicle was stopped the driver was run through lein and there was a warrant out of MDOC for B&E. The driver was arrested for the warrant. The driver made unsolicited admissions that there was marijuana in the vehicle. Officers collected the green leafy substance (suspected marijuana) from the rear passenger seat located in a white plastic bag. The suspected marijuana was Field Tested by a Southfield Police Evidence Technician. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana.

Officers were dispatched to Winchester and Evergreen Rd. for a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Officers observed a Chrysler 300 E/B Winchester stopped at the light at Evergreen. The vehicle was running. Officers observed a subject in the driver's seat, sleeping, with his foot on the brake. Officers shined their lights on subject and knocked on the windows several times but the driver didn t respond. Officers continued to knock on the windows and the driver finally woke up. Officer patted the driver down and located a handgun in his waistband. The driver stated he didn t have a CPL. The handgun was confiscated and secured for evidence. Further investigation revealed that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for OWI & CCW. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. CCW/ DWLS- 1- Arrest 01/04/2018 11:40pm W Eight Mile Rd. & N Southfield Fwy. Officer was following vehicle with improper plate and then observed the driver of the vehicle commit several traffic violations. After stopping the vehicle Officer observed furtive movements by the driver i.e. reaching under the seat and pushing something across the seat. After requesting back up, additional Officers arrived on scene to assist. After approaching the vehicle Officers immediately could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicles interior. It was determined that the driver s operator s license was suspended. The driver was arrested for DWLS. A search of the vehicle, Officers located a handgun in the back seat, on the driver's side of the vehicle in between the seat cushion which was within immediate reach of the driver from the driver's seat. The driver was arrested for DWLS & CCW.

Special Attention: Several LFA s this past week at Apartment Complexes. (13 Mile & Southfield Area) 1) 18000 Block of W Thirteen Mile All Four Wheels & Tires were taken from 2015 Chrysler 300S Occurred between 5:00pm and 6:20am. 2) 18000 Block of W Thirteen Mile Window was broken out on 2017 Dodge Challenger and vehicle was gone through. Occurred sometime overnight. DWLS/ Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest 01/06/2018 2:30pm W Eight Mile Rd. & Evergreen Rd. Officer was on routine patrol when he observed subject texting while driving. A traffic stop was initiated. During the traffic stop the driver admitted to using his phone while driving and he also admitted to having a suspended driver s license. The driver was arrested for DWLS. After transporting subject to the Southfield Jail a small baggie with suspected marijuana was recovered from a pocket in suspects jacket. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested the suspected marijuana. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. Additional charge of Possession of Marijuana. 3) 18000 Block of W Thirteen Mile Window was broken out and the In-Dash Navigation System was taken from 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Occurred sometime overnight. 4) 18000 Block of W Thirteen Mile Window was broken out and the In-Dash Navigation System and a checkbook were taken from victims 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Occurred sometime overnight.

5) 30000 Block of Southfield Rd. All Four Wheels & Tires and the vehicles Navigation System were taken form 2017 Dodge Challenger. CCW, DWLS, OWI 2, Possession of Marijuana- 1- Arrest 01/06/2018 5:24pm 30000 Block of Southfield Rd. Officers were dispatched to the 30000 Block of Southfield Rd for a slumped subject in the drive thru at business. Officers arrived on scene and observed subject passed out in the driver seat. The vehicle was running and in park. There was an empty bottle of Smirnoff Vodka in the back seat. Officers knocked loudly on the window to wake up the male driver. He slowly woke up after pounding on the window several times. When the male woke up, Officers tried to explain to him several times to open the door. He eventually opened the door. Upon speaking with the male Officers immediately smelled a strong odor of intoxicants emanating from his breath. There was also an odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. His responses to Officers questions and orders were very delayed and lethargic. Investigation resulted in the subject being arrested for OWI. Officers located a handgun and suspected marijuana inside the vehicle. The suspected marijuana was Field Tested by a Southfield Police Evidence Technician. The result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. A blood draw was completed at local hospital and the driver was conveyed to Southfield Jail for processing and to be lodged for OWI/ Possession of Marijuana & CCW.
