The Incredible... Pantanal Jaguar, Nature and Culture... Celebrating 27 years of incredible photo adventures! E: julia@worldadventures.com.au W: www.worldphotoadventures.com.au

BRAZIL - the adventure... We are very excited to offer you this special nature tour, with culture added for diversity. The Pantanal is a vast natural region located in the heart of South America encompassing the World s largest tropical flooded wetland. Although it is shared by Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay, more than 70 % of the Pantanal floodplain is located in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Though the Amazon rainforest is well known worldwide due to its diversity, the Pantanal offers more visible species and is one of the most productive wildlife habitats on Earth in terms of photogenic wildlife! Iconic species such as yacare caimans, capybaras, anacondas, ocelots, rheas, marsh deer, crab-eating raccoons, tapirs, peccaries, giant otters, jabirus, toucans, flocks of numerous species of parrots, parakeets, ibises, plus giant anteaters and jaguars, among many others. Travel with us to this South American wildlife paradise during the end of the dry season, the best time for prime wildlife photography and for the iconic jaguars! PHOTO adventure... Itinerary to photo adventure... DAY 1 - CUIABÁ - Brazil... October 10 No activities are included until we meet at 5pm at reception. Your guides will fill in tour details and you can meet the group. We include our first group dinner. Hotel accommodation - (D) DAY 2 - CUIABÁ TO POUSO ALEGRE RANCH October 11 We drive southwards to Poconé and start driving along the Transpantaneira, an elevated road of 160km s in distance. It crosses the savannas, the Pantanal, dozens of rivers and eventually reaches the Cuiabá River. The Transpantaneira is an excellent road for seeing and photographing the abundant wildlife of the region, as the ponds and pools at both sides concentrate a surprising diversity of wildlife even during the dry season, such as caimans, capybaras, marsh deer, jabiru storks, roseate spoonbills and many species of kingfishers. Accommodation for 2 nights at Pouso Alegre Lodge. The lodge is located inside a big cattle ranch of the Pantanal, and will be our first base to explore the region. (B,L, D) DAY 3 - PANTANAL POUSO ALEGRE RANCH October 12 Full day for exploring the savannahs, wetlands and forests. We will navigate Claro River for photographing spectacled caimans, white-lipped peccaries, red-collared hawks, Amazon kingfishers, wattled jacanas, and many other species. Spectacled and broad-nosed caimans, yellow anacondas, capybaras and marsh deer frequent the ponds and flooded areas, and the savannahs and forests are the habitat of the giant anteater, greater rheas, coatis and several black-and golden howler monkeys. Your professional photography guides will work with our local expert to maximise the many shoots of the stunning nature of this region. (B,L,D) DAYS 4 & 5 - POUSO ALEGRE TO SANTA TEREZA RANCH October 13&14 We move on to another exciting photo location - Santa Tereza Lodge, located in a cattle ranch deep into the Pantanal. It is located 2.5 km off the Transpantaneira road, on the forested banks of the wildlife-rich Pixaim River. The lodge offers mobile canopy towers that are placed according to the photographers interest. This could be close to jabiru nests and strategically located at fruiting and flowering trees that are visited by monkeys, toucans, tanagers and other groups of birds. Darran, Pearce and your local expert guide will optimise this and the timing for unique nature shoots. Lodge accommodation (B,L,D) PRE TOUR Darran and Pearce will flying from Australia to overnight in South America at least 24 hours before the tour starts. Accommodation and services start for this tour - DAY 1. This timing will give you a chance to relax and acclimatise to the new time zone. We generally commence booking pre/ post tour accommodation/flights about 8/9 months before departure. FINAL ITINERARY Note that a final itinerary will be sent to you about one month before departure. PAGE 4

OVERVIEW... The property offers a spectacular diversity of approachable wildlife. A very tame and photogenic family of giant river otters live on the Pixaim River, where we will also photograph very approachable birdlife such as black-collared hawks and great black hawks catching piranhas and other fishes, just a few feet from our boats! Curassows, sungrebes, rufescent tiger-herons, roseate spoonbills, jabirus, snail kites and ringed kingfishers will be other interesting subjects. We also have fantastic opportunities to photograph Brazilian tapirs and Jaguars! The very rare silvery marmoset, an energetic squirrel-sized primate, is also along the trails! DAY 6 - SANTA TEREZA TO PORTO JOFRE JAGUAR WILDLIFE CENTER - October 15 Today is a special day - Jaguars! After a drive to Porto Jofre, on the end of the Transpantaneira, we ll take a boat ride up to the Jaguar Flotel, ( Jaguar Research Centre), which is the world s leading location to see and photograph wild Jaguars, located between a private Jaguar reserve and the recently created 270,000- acre Meeting of the Waters State Park where a ban on hunting and the remote location has led to an unusually high density of habituated jaguars. The waters are flat and enjoyable for our photo needs. JRC is the only lodge in history that guarantees viewing of Jaguars. As the JRC Jaguars are at world-record density and spend most of their time on the river edge hunting their favourite prey, namely Paraguayan Caimans and capybaras, you can see these cats regularly close and in fantastic photo locations. The camp (which is in fact a big riverboat with cabins with private bathrooms) has a dedicated team of guides, boatmen and jaguar spotters ensuring the very best jaguar and wildlife sightings for its guests. We aim to start filling your cards this afternoon with unique images! Special River Boat & Cabins for 3 nights. (B.L.D) OVERVIEW... This is a key target location for this tour. Your experienced guiding team will maximise shoots and offer in depth information about the nature of the location and in particular the jaguars. PAGE 5

DAYS 7/8 - TARGETED JAGUAR & NATURE SHOOTS October 16&17 Two full days targeting jaguar and the best nature of the region. Every day we will navigate the Piquiri and Cuiaba rivers and tributaries looking for jaguars and other photogenic wildlife such as giant river otters, howler monkeys, sagui marmosets, tapirs and many other species. We will also focus on bird photography as several species of parrots, macaws, toucans, guans, orioles and tanagers are very abundant. You will be amazed how close we get to unique subjects. Darran is renowned for maximising such unique photo opportunities. We will navigate the Cuiabá River and its tributaries looking for Jaguars that frequent the riversides. After hunting, the Jaguars can be found resting or sunbathing along the beaches or on a log by the river. One of our target shoots will be to record these spectacular South American predators hunting big caimans by diving! We will also organize nocturnal explorations looking for tropical screechowls, crab-eating raccoons and colourful frogs. Special River Boat & Cabins for 3 nights. (B.L.D) DAY 9 - JAGUAR WILDLIFE CENTER to CUIABÁ October 18 After a final morning shoot, we return by boat to Porto Jofre, where we will visit an interesting lake with Victoria regias, and perhaps actively nesting hyacinth macaws before driving back to Cuiaba along the Transpantaneiranch. We arrive at Cuiabá where we overnight. A final group dinner allows us to swap tall stories from our incredible adventures... Hotel accommodation (B,L,D) DAY 10 - CUIABÁ - TOUR ENDS October 19 Tour ends. We include transfers for your flight. Julia can book your connection if you are joining our adventures in Argentina. (B,L,D) - Confirms if Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner - are included that day. Itinerary and price is subject to change. Interested in more? How about joining our other linked photo adventure? Julia can offer full itineraries. HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS SPECTACULAR PHOTO TOUR 1.
