MOSCONE EXPANSION PROJECT OBJECTIVES Expand the contiguous exhibition space increasing the quantity of highly flexible meeting and ballroom spaces. Maintain continuous operations during improvement and expansion. Capitalize on Moscone s unique location in the city by improving its connections and relationship to the city s fabric: Activate streets by optimizing vehicular and service functions to create uninterrupted pedestrian-favored sidewalks fronted by active uses wherever possible. Enhance pedestrian circulation and interest by reintroducing lost mid-block passageways and reducing the length of uninterrupted frontages. Create new and improved connections to the Yerba Buena Gardens. Maximize the value of the City s infrastructure and urban planning investment by building at an appropriately high density. Improve Moscone s civic presence on Howard Street by creating an iconic and architecturally significant arrival experience. 2

Wind Analysis Summary All locations passed the wind criterion used to assess pedestrian wind safety Appropriate wind comfort conditions occurred around the proposed development The proposed development generally is expected to create improved or similar wind conditions in the Children s Playground and in the surrounding areas Slightly higher than desired comfort conditions are expected in the summer at the 3 rd and Howard Street Entry to the proposed expansion- mitigation of hard and soft landscape elements recommended 63
