This afternoon is free to relax or do more exploring on our own. Our destination is Motukokako Island and the famous "Hole in the Rock". A navigation of the passage through the Hole brings us to the majestic Grand Cathedral Cave. On our return we ll meander past secluded islands crowned with pohutukawas (New Zealand's Christmas trees). MONDAY, NOVMBR 16 BD Day 6 Te Awamutu Farm Stay Leaving the Bay of Islands today, we travel south to Te Awamutu which lies in the heart of the Waikato region, an area known for its lush and fertile pastures. Very much a farming community, we will enjoy an exceptional experience tonight as we stay at a local farm. The warm hospitality of friendly New Zealanders in the comfort of their homes, a tour of their farm, plus a traditional home cooked dinner with enlightening conversation, will provide an insight into the farming lifestyle, and New Zealands's agricultural industry. TUSDAY, NOVMBR 17 BD Day 7 Waitomo - Rotorua After enjoying a hearty breakfast with our farm hosts, we travel to Waitomo, a vast area of limestone formations millions of years old, carved by the seepage of water through lime. One of New Zealand's leading attractions is the glow-worm grotto. Here we are guided into the caves and a short boat trip on an underground river brings us to a cavern lit by the shimmering abdomens of countless tiny glow-worms - a spectacular and unique experience. Our destination today is the thermal wonderland of Rotorua. Prior to arriving we will stop at Rainbow Springs to see trout swimming in clear pools, and a bird sanctuary. Tonight we visit a local marae, to enjoy a Maori Hangi dinner and concert. WDNSDAY, NOVMBR 18 BL Day 8 Rotorua We spend the day in Rotorua. Our first stop is the Te Puia Thermal Reserve with boiling mud pools, spouting geysers, steaming silica terraces, and the national schools of weaving, wood, stone and bone carving. At the Agrodome we see examples of the way of life on a sheep farm and learn about the local agricultural industry. Based at the top of the Gondola, we enjoy lunch today at the Skyline Restaurant amidst magnificent panoramic views of Rotorua and area. The remainder of the afternoon is free to enjoy the surroundings. THURSDAY, NOVMBR 19 BD Day 9 To Christchurch This morning we are taken to the airport for the flight to Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand. The city was founded in 1850 as a model church settlement by a group of pioneers from Britain. The devastating earthquake of 2011 caused extensive damage to the city centre, and the rebuilding is still in progress. After arriving we will have a short orientation tour of the city before checking into our hotel. FRIDAY, NOVMBR 20 BD Day 10 Christchurch - Dunedin Travelling south from Christchurch we will make several stops. Our first visit is the Oamaru Penguin Colony where we will take a leisurely walk through the breeding habitat. At this time of the year there are upwards of 300 penguins in the colony and we can get up close to their burrows to have a look at them. Next we take in the Moeraki Boulders, a number of huge spherical stones, found strewn along a stretch of Koekohe Beach near Moeraki. Our destination is Dunedin, which is the second-largest city of the South Island of New Zealand, and features the University of Otago known as New Zealand's oldest university. SATURDAY, NOVMBR 21 BL Day 11 Dunedin Sightseeing After breakfast we enjoy a full day of sightseeing starting with the sights of the inner city. After lunch, we travel the Otago Peninsula for amazing views, and then stop to visit Larnach Castle, New Zealand's only castle, built in 1871. We have a guided tour to learn the history of the Larnach Family and the castle itself. SUNDAY, NOVMBR 22 BD Day 12 To Queenstown Heading northwest from Dunedin, we pass through the orchard district of Cromwell and into the rugged Kawarau Gorge before reaching the historic gold mining township of Arrowtown. Here we have a chance to revisit New Zealand's Gold Rush years and wander the historical streets of the town. Then we travel on to the beautiful resort area of Queenstown.

MONDAY, NOVMBR 23 BL Day 13 Milford Sound This morning we depart for the magnificent Milford Sound travelling first to Mossburn, then over the Gorge Hill Pass to Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park. Through the beech forests of the glinton Valley we head to Milford where we are taken on a cruise of the fiord, and the opportunity to admire the sheer mountain cliffs and breathtaking waterfalls. Lunch is served onboard before we return to Queenstown for overnight. TUSDAY, NOVMBR 24 BD Day 14 Free Day Today is a free day to enjoy all there is in the "Adventure Capital" of the world. You could try bungee jumping, a jet boat ride on the Shot Over River or maybe take a tour of the "Lord of the Rings" film sites. There is also golfing close by or shopping in the town centre. Upon arrival in Cairns we are taken to our hotel and have some free time to enjoy the tropical surroundings. SUNDAY, NOVMBR 29 BL Day 19 Cruise the Great Barrier Reef One of the main reasons one travels to Northern Queensland is to experience the Great Barrier Reef - the largest and most complex expanse of coral reefs in the world. We travel by catamaran to Green Island where snorkeling gear is provided, or, if you prefer, view the marine life from an underwater observatory instead. After an exciting and informative day we return to our hotel in Brisbane. THURSDAY, DCMBR 3 BD Day 23 Brisbane With the spectacular architecture that is characteristic of Queensland's capital city, we enjoy the sights of Brisbane this morning. For a breathtaking panorama of Brisbane City we stop at the scenic lookout at Mt. Coot-tha with a short visit to nearby Mt. Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. We continue to South Bank with its 17 hectares of lush parklands, world-class eateries, and stunning river views. njoy some free time for lunch before our last stop at Kangaroo Point to see Brisbane's most recognizable icon, the famous Story Bridge.
