PROVISIONAL SCOUTS GUIDE

This Guide This guide will allow a Scout who is not attending camp with his regular troop to have the opportunity to attend camp. Leadership will be provided in these provisional units. Scouts are responsible for their own transportation to and from camp. Scouts should plan to arrive between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on the Sunday beginning his chosen week. We will have your paperwork on file, but you should bring extra copies just in case. Use the Merit Badge Schedule in this guide to select the programs in which you wish to participate. Transfer the corresponding classes to the registration section, on the application included in this packet. Housing/Accommodations All Scouts attending as provisionals will be housed at Camp Osage (Camp Cherokee in Week 3) in two-man wall tents with cots. Meals will be served in the dining hall or cooked in the campsite (Week 3). Scouts should bring appropriate camping gear and other personal items. Visit www.kiakima.net to review the Leaders Guide, and for more information, like a packing list or detailed descriptions of our programs and activities. Required Medical Forms All Scouts and leaders are required to have a current Annual Heath & Medical Record prior to coming to camp. Please bring this medical form with you to check-in; do not turn it in with this application. Physicals will be returned prior to your departure from camp. You can download the current medical form at www.bit.ly/2018medicalform. Camp Contact Info Kia Kima Scout Resevation is located at 9 Kia Kima Trail, Hardy, Arkansas 72542. If you need to speak with a representative from camp, please call 901-327-4193 until May 26. After May 26, please call the camp office at 870-257-4935. Trading Post Kia Kima operates a modern and efficient Trading Post. The Trading Post stocks many items related to the merit badges offered at camp, including crafts and handicrafts kits, and also carries souvenir items, concessions, and novelties. Typically, Scouts spend between $50-$75 at the Trading Post. Fees and Reservations Provisional Scouts may camp during Week 3 in Camp Cherokee and during Weeks 4 and 5 in Camp Osage. If you are unable to camp during these weeks and would like to provisional camp earlier in the summer, please contact Johnny Tracy at 901-327-4193, ext. 208, or by email at john.tracy@scouting.org. The provisional Scout fee is $255.00. There are additional fees for some programs; a listing of these fees can be found on the next page. In addition, some merit badges require materials to be purchased from the Trading Post. These badges have detailed descriptions on the camp website at kiakima.net. Please submit your camp fees at least two weeks prior to arriving at camp. This will ensure that we receive your information and have adequate time to process it prior to your arrival.
