GREEK ORTHODOX METROPOLIS OF CHICAGO FANARI SUMMER CAMP! Thank you for registering for Fanari Camp! We have received your application and payment. Before your stay at camp, please log onto your CampDoc account and fill out the entire health form, so we are properly equipped to care for your child(ren) while they attend their week at Fanari. The camp staff has been diligently planning for a week of spiritual growth, fellowship and fun. We look forward to your arrival! LOCATION Fanari Camp is located at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center in Kansasville, Wisconsin. For more information on the facility and how to get there, please go to their website at www.gosirc.org. Click on About at the top of the page and then scroll down to Directions. TRANSPORTATION There will be NO bus transportation to Fanari Camp. Parents will be responsible for drop-off and pick-up at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center. Check-in on Monday will be anytime from 4:00-6:00pm. Upon your arrival at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center, you will be directed where to park. Please, unload your child s belongings and check them in on the first floor of the main lodge for their housing assignment. Once they receive their welcome packet, are seen and screened by our medical staff, please, say your goodbyes so that they can gather with their fellow campers and staff in their cabins. Parents will not be allowed to go to the cabins with their child(ren). With over 100 children being dropped off, we ask your cooperation with our drop-off procedure to keep the flow of traffic going and to better supervise the incoming campers. Pick-Up on Sunday will be at 11:30am. Staff will be there to direct you where to go and pick up your child. Thank you, in advance, for your patience and cooperation with our new procedures. NO CELL PHONE POLICY As a way to better supervise our campers and their privacy during the week and to insure they get the full Fanari Camp experience while in our care, we have a NO CELL PHONE policy. This also gives the campers a chance to disconnect from the outside world and open themselves up to the spiritual journey a week at Fanari Camp offers. Campers will have access to any of their counselor s phone if there is an emergency or if they simply want to get in touch with you. All campers will be asked at registration to turn in their cell phones if they brought them and they will be given back at the end of the week. Parents, although we know it s hard to not be in contact with your child, your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you can personally take your child s phone before you bring them to camp, we will not have to use valuable time tending to this matter. We appreciate your cooperation by respecting and complying with this policy.
CONTACT If you have an emergency that requires immediate assistance, and you need to get in touch with your child(ren) during camp, you may contact the Director, Deacon Chris Avramopoulos at 708-288-2876 anytime during the week. If any issue or problem arises with your child(ren), we will immediately contact you. PICK UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW ME This year at Fanari, if you plan on attending Session 3, your child(ren) will have the privilege to share a day of camp with the Chicago Metropolis newest program, Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Me: A Special Needs Ministry. The program will join us in our daily activities and your child(ren) will be exposed to a variety of campers with various special needs. We look forward to sharing this experience together as one camp. Please, acquaint yourself with the literature below, to familiarize yourself with the Rules and Regulations, Camp Covenant and What to Bring. We strive to give the campers a perfect balance of fellowship, worship, discussions, education and fun. On behalf of the entire staff of Fanari Camp, we look forward to a blessed camping season!
