WHERE ARE YOU GOING? PERU & BOLIVIA These two neighbouring countries offer so many adventures and unmissable sights, it wouldn t be right to visit one and not or! Peru and Bolivia offer a truly dizzying variety of landscapes, cultures, activities and experiences. Trek amongst Andean peaks, work on a community project in Sacred Valley, climb to ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu and relax on shores of beautiful Lake Titicaca. This is ultimate South American expedition! The purpose of this brief is to introduce your expedition opportunity. It will give you a feel for destination and type of activities that you will be involved in. We hope this brief snapshot will leave you feeling inspired and wanting more! WHAT IT S LIKE... PHYSICAL RATING: Very demanding expedition. CULTURE SHOCK: A definite difference to what you are used to. ALTITUDE: The team will trek for periods between 3500m and 4700m. VISA: Not required for British nationals. DESTINATION FACTS RELIGION/S: Catholic & indigenous. CULTURAL OR HISTORICAL INTEREST: There are at least 20 tribes in Bolivian and Peruvian Amazon that remain uncontacted by outside world. LANGUAGES: Spanish, indigenous languages. GEOGRAPHY: Diverse. Arid Pacific coast in Peru, Altiplano desert interior, Andes and rainforest. CLIMATE: Dependant on region and altitude. Rainforest hot and humid. Altiplano and Andes dry with warm summers and cold winters.
WHAT IS AN? Expeditions are a life-changing experience, a chance for young people to go on a fun and educational journey with ir friends. Most expedition destinations are third-world or developing countries, allowing students to not only experience stunning parts of world but also witness a vert different way of life, often with chance to immerse mselves in culture through project work. HOW IT WORKS... During build-up we put students in driving seat, allowing m to finalise ir itinerary Acclimatisation Trekking Project R&R Arrive in country and spend some time getting used to new culture whilst planning your next phase and changing currency. You may take part in a trek during - eir a cultural trek through villages or an attempt to summit a nearby mountain! Dedicate some time to helping on a project - eir community or environmental based, often working with local people. Treat yourself to some Rest & Relaxation! This usually involves a few days on a beautiful beach, reflecting on your expedition.

ADVENTURE PROJECT At Itinerary Development Day, with guidance from one of our destination experts, team will be able to choose from options to finalise ir itinerary. The choices may include project y work and where y go for some rest and relaxation! Head out on arguably greatest of all Peruvian treks - Salkantay Trail, taking you through stunning and varied landscapes high in Andes. The scenery changes daily on five day trek; from a fertile valley floor up to bare mountain peaks, over rocky passes and beneath snow-capped Apu Salkantay - highest peak in Cordillera Vilcabamba. Your trek will end just one train stop away from Aguas Calientes - gateway to Machu Picchu. Arrive at historical jewel of South America - stunning Inca city of Machu Picchu. Built on mountain top overlooking spectacular forested mountains and valleys; city is one of best preserved ancient sites in Americas and one of world s greatest wonders. Ascend steps to be greeted by spectacular views and chance to glimpse an unforgettable sunrise! Take some time to reflect on your experiences at Copacabana on shores of Lake Titicaca. You can take a boat to beautiful Isla del Sol (Island of Sun), believed in Incan mythology to be birthplace of Sun God. There are many Incan and pre-incan ruins on island including an ancient sacrificial table! End your expedition with an experience you will never forget. Head out on a 4x4 tour of South West Bolivia, taking in stunning salt flats at Salar de Uyuni - largest on Earth. Take in spectacular landscapes that inspired Salvador Dali, including volcanic geysers, multi-coloured lakes, stone trees in this incredible, alien landscape. Your project work will be with Azul Wasi project, a home for formerly homeless boys and girls. It was set up by a policeman in Cusco who has made it his personal mission to provide an alternative to correctional facilities many street kids find mselves in. The children go to school, are fed and clod and taught how to rear animals and grow ir own food. You will be staying and working at home, which is always in need of support from willing volunteers! Work will most likely consist of developing facilities at home, such as expanding accommodation facilities and creating more space for children to play or do ir homework, as well as working on agricultural side of project. In addition to this re will be plenty of time to organise games and activities and teach children a little English and help with ir homework.

HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR We hope you have decided that this is expedition for your school or group. To launch all you need to do is follow se steps: CONTACT YOUR REGIONAL MANAGER Discuss convenient dates for us to come and run an assembly and information evening. Once se dates have been agreed you will be assigned a School Account Manager. They will become your point of contact at Outlook from now until after your return from expedition. PRESENTATION AT YOUR SCHOOL We will run an assembly presentation for your students and an information evening for students and parents at your school or venue.
