You can take up to 10 railroad ties to the Waste Management Newberg Transfer Station or Riverbend Landfill as a part of your regular load. If you have more than ten you must call Waste Management for more information 503-493-7834 Do you sell composters? You can purchase backyard composters from, Waste Management Newberg Transfer Station, or many local variety stores. (Wilco, Bi-Mart, Wal Mart, Fred Meyer etc.) OR you can build your own! The Home Composting Made Easy handbook is free from Yamhill County Solid Waste. Just stop by 525 NE 4 th St in McMinnville and pick up your copy. The book guides you through building a variety of types and sizes of composters, what to add to your compost pile, and how to trouble shoot any problems you might have. What can I take to the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection event? Items from your home with the words: Caution, warning, flammable, danger, or poison on the label. Include fluorescent light tubes and bulbs, household batteries, and pesticides to name a few. I won t be in town for the HHW event, can I drop stuff off the day before? NO! If you can t make the event you must wait for the next event or go to a permanent collection facility. The Salem permanent facility is open on Thursdays and the first Saturday each month between 9am and 3pm, located near the Salem/Keizer Transfer Station (3250 Deer Park Dr. Salem, 97317). You can also take your HHW to the Oregon City location (2001 Washington St, Oregon City 97045) open Mon thru Sat., 9am to 4pm. Can I take paint to the HHW collection? Yes, however you might not wait in line if you use a paintcare collection facility. In Yamhill County you can take paint to the McMinnville Habitat for Humanity ReStore or the Sherwin Williams Paint Store. In Newberg you can take paint to Parr Lumber or the Sherwin Williams Paint Store anytime during regular business hours.
