Cruising with a Webb Tour Group is the best way to cruise for MANY reasons: You have a director with you from start to finish to worry about airport stuff, transfers, ship details and more Your director has been to Alaska MANY TIMES and provides information and details that will save you LOTS of time and help you get the most out of your vacation When we arrive at the different ports of call, we have optional PRE ARRANGED land tours that are four our group only and there are less expensive than what the ship offers. Our groups love this. Of course, if you prefer you can choose what the ship offers We ll enjoy some optional dinners as a group during our cruise. And you take advantage of our group rates, so it actually costs less! EVERYBODY WINS! For Alaska, our private Webb Tour shore excursions are as follows (prices available in January, 2013): Skagway: Skagway is a gold rush town in a scenic bay at the foot of the mountains. The town itself is very charming and the surrounding area is quite beautiful. We ll be in port all day. We offer the journey over Whitehorse Pass. It takes you to the border of Canada (only about 1 ½ hours away) and is very scenic with mountain views, waterfalls and more. When you return from the trip (which makes several interesting stops along the way), you ll have plenty of time to browse in the town (with its boardwalk streets and fun shops). We will then go as a group to see the Days of 98 Revue which is a live play about Soapy Smith and other characters of the Gold Rush. It is hilarious, and provides interesting historical narrative. This combination is not offered by the ship. Cruise terminal in Skagway
Juneau: Juneau is the capital of Alaska. It is also very scenic. People underestimate the natural beauty of this area. I love gardens and I love glaciers. Juneau has the best of both. Mendenhall Glacier is a must and we ll enjoy a close encounter with this impressive glacier and time in the interpretive center. In addition, we ll visit the interesting Glacier Gardens which shows off beautiful rain forest flora that will surprise. Our excursion includes both and some time for shopping in this very charming town. Interesting Glacier Gardens in Juneau Ketchikan: Ketchikan is a delightful ocean side town featuring wildlife, history, entertainment and fun. We ll go to the edge of town to see the eagles and the salmon (if running). We ll visit Saxman Village and hear the stories of the gigantic totems in this area. We ll then enjoy the very entertaining Lumberjack Show which is a must in Ketchikan. The tour includes the tour and the show. Charming Ketchikan
Talkeetna: When we arrive in Talkeetna (on the land portion of our tour), you ll have some time to enjoy the quaint town (during lunch). At 2:00, we ll take a short bus ride (5 minutes) to the beautiful Susitna River and enjoy a jet boat ride on this wilderness river. Our narrated ride will show us flora, fauna and beautiful views of Mt. McKinley (weather permitting). We ll get out and take a 5 minute walk into an authentic trapper s cabin and learn a bit about the trade. Our exhilarating jet boat returns us back to our starting point. We ll then transfer to our spectacular wilderness lodge arriving between 4:30 and 5 so you have plenty of time to enjoy it. Jet Boat ride in beautiful Talkeetna
