Presidents Corner Boyz and Girlz March is here already - and we are off to a great start - Sacramento Autorama - congrats to Jerry - Anji - Mike and Ana - and all those who got awards - big show with big competition well deserved!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW - Mike Gosney has had the 58 Impala since he was 16 - and has now seen it get to its completion - have seen it at Vern's and Antonio's the past year getting work done - it turned out awesome congrats. Awesome participation for Esparto show and some great awards - look forward to hearing about it at the next meeting - I think it has been a 20 year run doing this show and thanks to Steve Lane for heading this up year in and year out. Tip: if you want to see a good hot rod movie - check out "Snake and the Mongoose" (Amazon video and others) - it is a very well done movie and good story and of course all the great cars and tow vehicles of the era. On a personal note - we got the Buick back on the road - it was determined that it needed a heart transplant - too many internal vacuum leaks on the Buick 300 engine - so... a Chevy 350 and 700R are now in place - and I know I'll get it from the Buick faithful - but for reliability and getting parts it is the right way to go - this is going to be a long haul cruiser so need to be able to get parts anywhere. Way too many friends to thank here for all the help - will share in Kerry's "car stories" at the next meeting. Keep on Cruizin Jeff Name that Movie: Mel Gibson in futuristic hot rods driving around looking for gas.
FOR SALE E-Stopp Brake and Lokar universal Emergency brake cables $400.00 takes all Michael Todd 707-208-3174 Image only, part may be different Hello one and all. Esparto was a little confusing for the newbies running it this year. Parking was a little different. Apparently there were some complaints about baby strollers going in between the cars. We were 25 strong! Weather was beautiful! We had a couple of mishaps, one flat tire, (no names please) and a Carb. issue. Boyz made up 20% of the show. All together five prizes were won by the Boyz! Bill Norton first place, Larry Torres second place, John Harris won the Chief's special award! Larry Collins won a raffle prize (a big bucket of cleaning goodies), and the club participation award. Someone asked me how many participation awards have we won in the years we have been going up to Esparto? I have seven plaques on the wall. Gave one to Cheryl the year Fred passed, and I think Chip has one? Not too bad! After the Show a small group went up to Cache Creek golf course for dinner. Very nice, food was great along with the view. Steve Lane Please note; if you have not paid your dues for the year, this will be your last newsletter, this also goes for sponsors. To get back into the club you must go through the new member process and pay the new member cost.
Bowling Madness - Saturday, March 10th Our March Bowling Madness is just around the corner. If you re going with us please be aware that we are leaving BofA on Springs Road at 10am. We are going to Paddock Bowl in Pacheco, small house with friendly people. They have a small café and next door there is a Wendy s. Bring your hotrod and your sense of humor and we ll have a great time. Lets hope for no rain that day. We have to cross the Benicia bridge so bring extra cash cuz who knows what bridge fare is these days. Cost for bowling will be determined by how many show up. We had a BLAST last year! (Mary s bummed that she can t bowl this year.) Thanks Tom PS: yes guys she may be there! Notes from the VP, It's a little thing and to some odd, but I always get a good feeling when I put a new tag on my license plate. My Chevelle is 54 years old and just now putting on the new tag (2018 ) I had to smile. No one in Detroit was thinking " oh ya, this car will be on the road in 50 years" no way. When I watch old movies, I have half my attention on the cars. At the time just part of the scene but now of great interest to me and others. For example "Bullitt", I have a friend who names off every car, driving or parked, in the whole movie and calls out the studio fill ins in each scene. Jennifer and I were just watching "China Town" the cars were half the fun. We are very much looking forward to the coming summer, The BOYZ road trip is on our calendar along with many other BOYZ outings. See you there. Kerry Scott
