WELCOME TO CAMP THUNDERMOON! At Camp Thundermoon our days are filled with great opportunities for friendship, learning, and fun! Our focus for fun is within three key areas: Spirit (the Arts), Mind (Science/Reading) Body (Health/Wellness). In addition we strive to instill the YMCA areas of focus: Youth Development Healthy Living Social Responsibility. There s nothing like a Y camp. At Camp Thundermoon kids are provided a safe environment, positive role models, and memories to last a lifetime. When you count on us, you can count on the best summer EVER for your child! Welcome to Camp Thundermoon BOOM!

ABOUT CAMP THUNDERMOON GENERAL INFORMATION Camp Thundermoon is held at the beautiful Mooreland Hill School campus in Kensington, CT. Our camp program will utilize various areas of the campus including indoor/outdoor spaces and full use of the athletic fields behind the building. There are lots of great spaces that allow for enhanced summer camp activities including a science lab and an arts & crafts building. No Y membership required, open to all! However having a Meriden-New Britain-Berlin Y membership will help save you money. HOW DOES CAMP WORK? We group our campers into three different units based on age. Each unit is assigned a director and at least one counselor who oversee the group. We strive to maintain a ratio of campers to counselors that meets or exceeds the State of CT regulations. Our camp is a drop-off and pick-up program in Berlin. New Britain families have the option of bus transportation for an additional fee. ACTIVITIES Campers will participate in a variety of fun and age appropriate activities, all based around the weekly theme. Our focus for fun is within three key areas of Spirit (Music & the Arts), Mind (Science/ Reading), and Body (Health/Wellness). SWIMMING & MORE AT OUR Y FACILITY Each Unit will visit the New Britain YMCA or Meriden YMCA facility to swim twice a week (Monday through Thursday). Bus transportation is provided and will leave camp by 9:30 AM on swim days. Swim time includes group swim lessons and free swim time. Campers will also enjoy organized gym games and will get to use the indoor rock wall. All activities are supervised by Camp Staff, certified Rock Wall Staff, and certified Lifeguards. Campers will return to camp by 12:30 PM to have lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon activities. FIELD TRIPS Field trips are a great addition to our camp program. Every other session will include an exciting field trip that goes along with the weekly theme. Field trips are always on the Friday of a field trip week. A detailed permission slip will be sent home with campers at the beginning of that session. During the non-field trip weeks, we ll have a camp show for friends and family to enjoy, and/or an all camp activity!
