The fourth Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (28 February-4 March) and the 34th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (2-6 March) concluded successfully. The two shows featured about 4,480 exhibitors, and attracted over 85,000 buyers from 144 countries and regions, up six per cent over last year. More than 33,000 buyers visited the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show, while some 52,000 visitors attended the Jewellery Show. Mr. Benjamin Chau- Dy. Executive Director, HKTDC said that despite of economic challenges, especially in the luxury goods market, the two shows attracted a record number of buyers. The exhibitors are also generally satisfied with the results at the two shows. This demonstrates that the jewellery industry remains confident about business prospects this year, reinforcing Hong Kong s position as a proven global promotion and sourcing hub for the industry, as well as the success of our two shows, two venues format. Analysing the buyer statistics this year, one see that buyer attendance from emerging markets recorded a considerable increase, such as the Chinese mainland as well as Malaysia and the Philippines from ASEAN and Russia, Turkey and Iran. The double-digit growth of buyer attendance from these regions reflects their market potential. Together these two complementary events showcase around 4,480 exhibitors from 52 countries and regions. Exhibitors of diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones and pearls of many different origins are housed in the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show in AsiaWorld-Expo while exquisite finished jewellery is presented in the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2nd -6 March 2017. AWE: Group Pavilion: 22 group pavilions demonstrated stunning diamonds and gemstones from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Colombia, Germany, India and Thailand etc. 2

India Pavilion Exhibitors Lounge /Service booth at AWE & CEC AWE Hall no.2 - Diamond Section at B-13 AWE Hall no.07 - Diamond Section at G- 11 CEC Hall no.5e Finished Jewellery Section at 5CON 21 & 22 at CEC: This exhibitor s lounge was created for India Pavilion s exhibitors wherein tea/coffee/refreshments/internet connections, printer etc., services were provided. FOLLOWING MEETINGS HAVE BEEN LINED UP WITH VARIOUS INTL AGENCIES: 1 st March 2017: Meeting with Ms. Lily Zhang, Haiming International Exhibition Group, Organizer of Apr Beijing Show : Ms. Lily Zang met exhibitors of India Pavilion to promote China Intl Jewellery Show. She briefed exhibitors about the Customs formalities, duty structure etc. in China. She also shared the floor plan, layout, possible locations being offered to India Pavilion, Booth cost etc., However, exhibitors were not very positive, since the time was very short for preparing for the show in April. But they were interested for the next year April show 2018. 3rd March: Meeting with DV Global Link the Organisers of VOD 2018 & Comnet Exhibitions to discuss agreement with GJEPC, Comnet & DV Global Links Attendees from DV Global Links : Mr. Luca Veronesi - Show Director : Ms. Sameera Said - Attendees from GJEPC :Mr. Sohil Kothari- co-convener- Intl Exh Committee Ms Naheed Sunke- Sr. Manager -Exhibitions Attendees from Comnet : Ms Hemah Saxena, Mr Pranab Singh DV Global Links informed that VOD & DIJW has been merged in one show and the new show will be organised by DV Global Link LLC during 15-18 November 2017. There will be 2 India pavilions in the show one for Trade Only & other for Trade/Retail segment. 8

It was informed that VOD will have the contract with GJEPC for India region and further GJEPC will have the contract with Comnet for recruiting exhibitors for Trade/Retail sector only. VOD team informed that Comnet shall be responsible for sales in Trade/retail section (B2B-B2C section). It was mentioned that the payment will be collected by GJEPC and booth allocation will be done GJEPC booth allotment policy. Following points were discussed during the meeting held between VOD, GJEPC & Comnet at Hong Kong on 03rd March 2017: The agreement for space contract for the above event (inclusive of trade Section and retail section) shall be between GJEPC & DV Global link and of course separately, there will be an agreement between GJEPC & Comnet for equally sharing the 10% commission provided to us, for both space cost as well as construction cost for the retail section. The Organisers have also given us the option of selling raw space for area that are with 36 sqm and above. GJEPC will receive the final floor plan indicating the India pavilion that was selected during the meeting, which will be emailed to all members for availing the Early Bird Discount (offered to first 10 companies.) by 31st March 2017. Regarding the sales for the retail section, with Comnet s & GJEPC will market jointly to achieve the target in engaging maximum representation of Indian companies at the subject show. However, the space allocation to all members under India Pavilion would be done by GJEPC according to the Council s allotment procedure. With regard to the above arrangement GJEPC shall share the draft agreement copy with Comnet for mutual cooperation. Mr. Kothari suggested that Comnet may recruit exhibitors opting for Shell scheme booths and any request for raw space shall be forwarded to GJEPC for approval. GJEPC will pass the Comnet s share after the exhibition. 9

Mr. Sohil Kothari mentioned that the application forms, fact sheet and emailers will be jointly published by GJEPC & Comnet. It was also mentioned by him that a meeting to be organized between GJEPC & Comnet in order to work on it. Comnet s target for Trade/Retail (B2B-B2C) section will be 900 sqms and for Machinery section, the target will be 150 sqm. VOD & GJEPC will jointly organise roadshows in India soon to promote VOD 2017. Since, we are only 7 months away from the show, we request that the draft agreement between GLEPC and Comnet Exhibitions be forwarded and subsequently a meeting between senior management of GJEPC and Comnet be scheduled to move forward. 3rd March: Meeting with HKTDC, the Organisers of the Hong Kong March Show 2016 Attendees from HKTDC Attendees from GJEPC : CF, May Wong, Brian Chan, Ringo, Kitty Chan :Mr.Sohil Kothari- Co-convener-Intl Exh Committee Ms Naheed Sunke- Sr. Manager -Exhibitions Attendees from Comnet : Ms Hemah Saxena, Mr Pranab Singh HKTDC thanked the support from GJEPC for all these years and look forward to the same in the coming years as well. The buyer s traffic to both the shows was encouraging despite of slow market condition worldwide and there were no major issues raised by any pavilion exhibitor in the both the shows. HKTDC has asked GJEPC to get exhibitors related to arts & artefacts in 2018. Change in Floor plan at AWE and CEC For AWE - It was informed by TDC that there will be changes in the booth allocation and floor plan. TDC confirmed that the exhibitors dealing in synthetic & lab diamonds shall be shifted to a different location. CEC: HKTDC informed GJEPC that there will be few changes in the floor plan of CEC. 10

GJEPC has confirmed that they require central/better location for India pavilion in hall 2 and close to Antwerp & Israel pavilion. In case Antwerp and Israel pavilion cannot be placed together with India pavilion, then GJEPC shall check the preference and revert. HKTDC shall try that India pavilion in hall 7 shall have aisles facing each other on the main aisle. GJEPC has asked to keep the India gemstone pavilion near Thailand gemstone pavilion in hall 11. HKTDC has informed that hall 8 in AWE might get available for 2018 leading to more space availability. GJEPC has also raised to HKTDC that there are many Indian companies participating from Hong Kong for better rates. TDC confirmed that if any company exhibits from Hong Kong company, TDC will have to allocate them. But TDC can always inform us if there is any India pavilion company found applying directly through Hong Kong. HKTDC confirmed that this year the online application form & prices shall be available by Aug/Sept 2017. GJEPC has asked for the floor plan for both the shows to be shared by Aug/Sept 2017. Sponsorships : GJEPC has asked for the PEC proposal to be send along with the floor plan as the items shall be considered and confirmed accordingly. GJEPC has shown interest in the mobile app option and have asked TDC to send the proposal including it. They have also asked to share the approx... price for the NEW items (including mobile app & collaterals) so that GJEPC can try and include the amount in their budget. GJEPC confirmed that the onsite items for CEC shall remain the same. 11

1st March 2017: Met the Organisers of CARAT+ 2017 at the Show. Introduced them to the exhibitors of India Pavilion. Few exhibitors showed interested to participate at the Show. M/s. P. Hirani confirmed 18 sqm booth and Arihant Star also increased its space from 12 sqm to 18 sqm. 3rd March: Meeting with HKTDC- Stand Contractors : To discuss about the stand construction in future shows at Hong Kong : Attendees from HKTDC : Ms. Kate Chan and Mr. Johnson Attendees from GJEPC : Mr. Vishal Thakker & Mrs. Naheed Sunke HKTDC was the official contractor of India Pavilion at Hong Kong Shows till March 2014. GJEPC again approached them to send their proposal and quote for the Hong Kong March 2018. Ms. Kate agreed for the same and said she will work on the same as soon as possible. 4th March: Meeting with Italian Exhibition Group(IEG) Organisers of Vicenza Oro Winter & Fall: Meeting was held to discuss the participation of India Pavilion at 2018: Attendees from IEG : Ms. Stefano Rosin- Sales Director Ms. Ombretta BATTISTELLO Sales Manager Attendees from GJEPC : Mr.Sohil Kothari- Co-convener-Intl Exh Committee Ms Naheed Sunke- Sr. Manager -Exhibitions Mr. Rosin informed that if any exhibitor who participated in January and also interested in September Vicenza Oro, then they will get 15% discount on 338/sqm rate. If any new exhibitors participates in Sept edition only, they will be charged 338/sqm (instead of 400 /sqm, since it is only for one edition).the above discount is valid only for GJEPC s members for September 2017 and is applicable only on the space rental. 12

Mr. Rosin informed that he will send GJEPC, complimentary media plan which will only valid for September 2017. Mr. Rosin further briefed that VICENZAORO is making a lot of efforts in getting better every edition. For the coming year they are very much focused on buyers and are going to host more than 1.100 buyers in different ways as well as new projects to increase the allure of the show for example in January 17 edition they have presented The Design Room project where had many new international designers like Rodney Rayner, Qayten, Magerit, Fernando Jorge, Nikos Koulis, Daniela Villegas, Natalie Nissim just to name a few. In September the N.O.W. projects related to Italian independent watch brands and many more are in planning stage. They are also focused on Hall 3.1 to make it even more attractive for our international exhibitors. 6 th March 2017 : Onsite meeting with Mr. Edwin NG Director from Milton Exhibits, the Stand contractor of India Pavilion at Hong Kong March Show 2017: Attendees from Milton : Mr. Edwin Ng- Director Attendees from GJEPC : Mr. Sohil Kothari- Co-convener-Intl Exh Committee Ms. Naheed Sunke- Sr. Manager -Exhibitions Along with Mr. Edwin, GJEPC secretariat had a site meeting on the 6th March. The following feedback were given to them for improvement in the next edition: Use of white sticker to paste over in the next edition. The LED light use for tall show case is not so bright, so next edition there should be 2 lights instead of one. On sites order of Tall Showcases by the exhibitors should be aligned and form a continuity straight wall. Octonorm Door to be changed to Glass Door GJEPC also proposed the following changes: The frontage maron sticker need to be cut out with exhibitors name. The deadline for additional order (except electrical) revised to 2 weeks before move in. Make sure all the tall showcases using as a partition wall must install at the site to form a straight line. 13

All top branding install with HQI light instead of 100w spot light for each of the print. As it is already past the 3 years term. GJEPC suggested Milton to propose few new concept design, keeping in mind the same theme of India Pavilion. Or may be to change the show case to specially made showcases ( like Israel pavilion)..
