The Bureau is a results driven team, which works closely with its members and key industry partners to attract business events each year. Confirmed business for 2016 / 17 represents 61,000 international and national delegates, which generates 261,000 bed nights and delivers $247m into the state s economy. The Bureau is committed to its members through regular communication and service to ensure members leverage the most from the marketing tools provided and the business leads generated. Membership is a mutual partnership and those that are pro-active and follow-up the opportunities presented benefit greatly from their Bureau membership. ADELAIDE CONVENTION BUREAU... Is the peak industry body for attracting business events to Adelaide and to create new business opportunities for its members, introducing them to the lucrative business events market. The Bureau operates collaboratively with members to showcase the destination in a manner that is attractive to national and international business visitors alike. Such collaboration is built on trust and understanding and designed to produce reciprocal benefits from the shared investment. WHAT IS A BUSINESS EVENT? Business events are generally made up of meetings, incentive groups, conventions and exhibitions. MEETINGS: INCENTIVE GROUPS: CONVENTIONS: EXHIBITIONS: Gatherings in a commercial venue; with more than 15 persons; and with a common purpose. Reward programs that are attended by high achievers to recognise and further motivate participants for their performance within the organisation. Also referred to as conferences, an assembly of participants, with many local, interstate and international visitors. Most conventions will have some form of exhibition attached. Gatherings where suppliers display their products and services for trade and public exhibition purposes. MAXIMISING YOUR MEMBERSHIP MEMBERSHIP IS A MUTUAL INVESTMENT The Adelaide Convention Bureau works to create new business opportunities for its members, introducing them to the lucrative conventions, meetings, exhibitions and corporate incentive travel markets. The Bureau operates collaboratively with members to showcase the destination in a manner that is attractive to national and international business visitors alike. Such collaboration is built on trust and understanding, and designed to produce reciprocal benefits from the shared investment. Current members include: accommodation providers venues meeting managers attractions retailers restaurants printers tour operators airlines other travel and transport service providers and more The Bureau is committed to helping all members receive the best possible return on investment, through the many opportunities and resources offered. Members are advised to invest the time necessary to advance opportunities to maximise their membership. NEW BUSINESS FOR THE DESTINATION The Adelaide Convention Bureau sources and identifies key business events and is a proactive bidder in encouraging national and international event organisers to select South Australia as their choice of destination. Members may be asked to provide information and proposals for inclusion in destination bid documents based on their client requirements. During and following successful bids, the Bureau facilitates direct member/client dialogue. SA BUSINESS EVENTS OPPORTUNITIES REPORT Members at Eat, Shop, Taste, Explore (E.S.T.E) category 3 level and above have access to the Bureau s SA Business Events Opportunities Report, which is a confidential list of all upcoming conventions, meetings, exhibitions and incentive groups confirmed to South Australia. The report is a powerful resource allowing members to market and promote their business to event organisers that have requirements to satisfy. BUSINESS REFERRALS Business referrals are enquiries regarding member services and products from clients who have already committed to holding their event in South Australia. This is a vital Bureau function and one that delivers important benefits to its members. Based on the request, the Bureau will qualify the opportunity and present appropriate solutions to the client. In all cases direct member contact is promoted and members are kept fully updated as to the outcome. FAMILIARISATION PROGRAMS / SITE VISITS Adelaide Convention Bureau members are offered the opportunity to participate in familiarisation programs and site visits conducted by the Bureau, based upon the level of membership category. Hosted clients can include; association and corporate key decision makers, professional conference Organisers and the media. Such initiatives present a prime opportunity for members to showcase their product. NETWORKING Networking with other Bureau members and key industry partners is a proven successful way of generating contacts, partnerships and often potential business. The Bureau provides numerous networking opportunities for members such as Business Hours, breakfasts, lunches and the premier event, Destination South Australia. All networking events are well attended, including Business Hours that attract more than 200 members and industry partners.

CO-OPERATIVE MARKETING ACTIVITIES PLANNER S GUIDE The Adelaide Convention Bureau produces the primary business events publication for Adelaide and South Australia, promoting business event facilities, products and services. The Planner s Guide is a must have for event planners and clients locally, nationally and internationally. The digital guide is available at Destination SA and distributed to qualified convention, conference, exhibition and incentive buyers in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, United Kingdom and Europe. The guide is produced annually and offers members the opportunity to advertise and secure a position at the forefront of potential business. TRADESHOWS The Bureau attends major tradeshows both nationally and internationally to promote the state and create further business opportunities for its members. Members are encouraged to invest in attending selected tradeshows with the Bureau and other Team Adelaide members. Examples of tradeshows attended by the Bureau include: AIME (Asia Pacific Incentive & Meetings Expo) - Melbourne. PAICE (Pacific Area Incentives & Conventions Expo) - New Zealand. IMEX (Incentives & Meetings Expo) - Germany, Europe. Australian Association Forum. Dreamtime (Incentives Expo). Various international missions arranged by Business Events Australia (e.g. China, South East Asia and New Zealand). ADELAIDE CONVENTION BUREAU WEBSITE The Bureau website is informative, media rich and designed as a landing site for all Bureau marketing activity. Each member has an exclusive web listing with company description and contact details, allowing potential clients and delegates to search through relevant member products and services. Most importantly, members have access to an exclusive Member s Only area on the Bureau website. The website provides access to online opportunities such as: Access to sales leads. Opportunity to provide proposals for event bids. Access to the SA Business Events Opportunities Report. MEMBER TRAINING WORKSHOPS The Bureau conducts bi-monthly workshops in order to provide informative training about Bureau services, submitting proposals (Simpleview Partner Interface Program), how to maximise on membership and advise of any updates or new initiatives. The Membership Team also conducts free personal tutorials within workplaces to individuals or groups. PUBLIC RELATIONS The Adelaide Convention Bureau works closely with public relations agency Foster Hill PR in an effort to further enhance the profile of the Bureau and the South Australian business events industry. The Bureau is pleased to discuss ways to support members through selected media and Business Events Australia trade. BUREAU BUSINESS E-NEWSLETTER Adelaide Convention Bureau members and key industry partners receive the Bureau Business e-newsletter each month, providing information on industry trends, Bureau activities and achievements. This provides a platform and effective marketing tool for members to promote any news and developments to other members and key industry partners, which may be based locally, interstate or overseas.
