Private Namibia/Botswana Photo Tour TRAVEL DATES May 5-22, 2018 18 Days Itinerary Private Namibia/Botswana Photo Tour with photographer Alison Wright www.alisonwright.com Limited to six people Join this unique and intimate guided photo tour that will give you the freedom to move at your own pace. Photograph the unique landscape, wildlife and tribal culture of Namibia and Botswana while traveling with local guides and a professional photographer. This is a trip for the truly adventurous. Private Namibia Tour 11 Night / 12 Day Guided Lodge Safari Travel dates: 05 16 May 2018 Namibia is certainly one of the most fascinating countries in Southern Africa. When on tour through its unique landscapes, you experience the vastness and solitude of Namibia. In addition to the picturesque Kalahari, Namib Desert and Swakopmund, Namibia offers great hospitality, very good value for money and excellent cuisine. It is an interesting and varied travel destination combining the country s German colonial history with wildlife, spectacular landscapes and friendly people. A guided safari is certainly the perfect alternative to a self-drive tour in Namibia. Day 1 Windhoek, Namibia 05 May 2018 Distance approx. 50 km; driving time approx. 1 h Upon your arrival at Windhoek International Airport, you will be picked up by a driver and taken to the Casa Piccolo. After check-in you will have some time to freshen up before meeting your guide and leaving on a short city tour through Windhoek. There is plenty to see and explore such as the Christ Church, Tintenpalast (House of Parliament) and Alte Feste (Old Fort). In the evening, you will go for dinner at Joe s Beerhouse (optional) before returning to the Casa Piccolo where you will spend the night. http://www.casa-piccolo.com/ Day 2 Windhoek, Namibia - Kalahari, Namibia 06 May 2018 Distance approx. 300 km; driving time approx. 4-5 h

After a quick safari briefing and after your luggage has been stored safely in the vehicle, you will leave Windhoek and travel southwards via Rehoboth in the direction of Mariental. The destination for the day is Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch, a farm situated in the imposing red sand dunes of the southern Kalahari. Enjoy the peace of the desert, relax and take in the endless views of the dunes. The next morning, we encourage you to join a Bush Walk where you will learn more about the flora and fauna found in the area (optional and not included in the tour price). http://www.bagatelle-kalahari-gameranch.com/ Day 3 Kalahari, Namibia - Namib Desert, Namibia 07 May 2018 Distance approx. 450 km; driving time approx. 5-6 h After a leisurely breakfast you head in the direction of Sesriem via Mariental and Maltahöhe. Sesriem is the gateway to see the shifting sand dunes of the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei. You will continue onwards to Sossus Dune Lodge, within the park, where you will stay the night. https://www.nwr.com.na/resorts/sossus-dune-lodge Day 4 Namib Desert, Namibia 08 May 2018 Distance approx. 250 km; driving time approx. 3-4 h At sunrise you make your way into the Sossusvlei area. If you are early and fit enough you can even climb one of the dunes and enjoy the impressive view of the entire landscape. You will drive with the 4x4 vehicle to the Sossusvlei, which is a dry clay pan that only fills with water in years with a lot of rain. Thereafter you will continue to the Sesriem Canyon, formed by the Tsauchab River over millions of years. The destination of the day is Namib Desert Lodge. http://www.gondwana-collection.com/the-namib-experience/accommodation/namib-desert-lodge/ Day 5 Rostock Ritz, Namibia - Swakopmund, Namibia 09 May 2018 Distance approx. 250 km; driving time approx. 3 h Today s journey takes you to Swakopmund. There is a healthy mixture of bushveld, river systems and wooded areas we are able to off-road a key sightings and night drives which are not allowed in most of the other reserves. This affords us plenty of opportunities to photograph predator action. Khwai is excellent for sightings of Wild Dogs, Leopards, Lions and several other species not seen as often by The Chobe River where you have just come from. The Pangolin Khwai Camp comprises a maximum of 7 large double tents all with ensuite bathrooms and showers. The beds are made up with top class linen and blankets on proper beds to assure you of a great nights sleep listening to the sounds of nature all around you. The central area of the camp consists of a dining area, lounge, editing table and a sunken lounge that leads out to the fire. There is very good solar powered electricity for the charging of laptops and camera batteries. All the meals are taken around a large dining table adorned with quality cutlery and plates and after dinner you are encouraged to move to the roaring camp-fire to swap tales and talk about your sightings. All the game drives in Khwai are in the customised game viewers with a maximum of 4 clients per vehicle. This allows everyone to photograph down the same side of the vehicle and have plenty of room to store camera bags with extra lenses and bodies within easy reach if needs be. The guides and drivers in the camp are well trained photographically and adept at getting you into great photo positions while out shooting on the twice daily game drives. During your time in Khwai you will be able to experience a trip down the river on a Mokoro a traditional dug-out canoe. Your poler will push you through the reeds and water lilies in near silence which is a great way to experience the ecosystem but also get very close to the plains game that inhabit the river s edge. This experience is the quintessential Okavango Delta activity.
