Sample some Hollywood glamour in the buzzing city of Los Angeles before lazing on the beaches of San Diego. Visit the megawatt city of Las Vegas and watch the sunrise over the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, before hiking through incredible scenery in Death Valley and Yosemite National Park. With a dedicated guide and loads of optional extra activities in each stop, you ll enjoy a fantastic fortnight in the USA! Trip Details Days 1-2: Los Angeles and San Diego Kick off your US adventure in the star-studded streets of L.A. Keep your eyes peeled for celebs on the gleaming boulevards of this magnificent city, take a snap next to the legendary Hollywood sign and find your favourite actors on the Walk of Fame. 2/6
Leave L.A. behind and roll on to the buzzing city of San Diego. Why not check out the 3,000 animals in San Diego Zoo, have picnic on the grass of Balboa Park, or top up your West Coast tan on Mission Beach. There are loads of activities to get involved in on San Diego s glorious seafront. Why not glide along the coast on rollerblades or try your hand at some water sports on the glittering sea. As the sun sets, get ready for a night out in the Gaslamp Quarter and sample the city s electric nightlife. Day 3: Colorado River Time to get out of the city and into the heat of the Mojave Desert. Pass by the Algodones sand dunes and camp near to the Colorado River this evening Days 4-5: Lake Havasu & Grand Canyon Continue on to Lake Havasu and see London Bridge! This bridge was transported from London to Arizona in the 1830s. Now, prepare for something amazing! The incredible Grand Canyon stretches before you today as you hike from the towering forests on the rim to the red rock and white sands of the base. Alternatively, hop on an optional helicopter ride and enjoy a bird s eye view of this natural wonder. Make sure to catch the canyon at sunrise. There s no greater sight! Days 6-7: Las Vegas Vegas baby! Journey along the road-trip dream of Route 66, stopping off in Seligman for some classic US memorabilia. Then discover the neon-soaked wonderland of Vegas. Settle into your accommodation, lounge by the pool and enjoy a party ride experience in the city streets! The evening is yours to indulge in a big meal, take in a Vegas show, or try your luck at a hotel casino. You could even rise above sin city with an optional helicopter ride along the main strip. Day 8: Death Valley Venture into the hottest, driest and lowest place on earth Death Valley. This harsh, barren landscape is otherworldly and quite beautiful, like standing on another planet. Never-ending salt flats disappear into the horizon and twisted rocks shimmer in the beating sun. You ll be staying in nearby (and slightly cooler) Bishop for the night. Days 9-10: Yosemite National Park From the barren wastelands of Death Valley to the lush abundance of Yosemite, this staggeringly beautiful National Park is a patchwork of sweeping forests, soaring cliffs and plunging waterfalls. Pull on your hiking boots and explore the many trails, keeping an eye out for the various wonderful wildlife that make Yosemite their home. You could even hire a bicycle or float down the river on a rubber ring for a different angle on the West Coast s most beautiful park. Days 11-12: San Francisco 3/6
Watch the iconic Golden Gate Bridge come into view as you drive into San Francisco. Explore the bohemian streets of Haight-Ashbury, tuck into some clam chowder at Fisherman s Wharf and watch lazing sea lions from Pier 39. You ll even enjoy a guided tour of Chinatown and North Beach. You ll be spoilt for choice in this incredible city! Day 13: Pacific Coast Hit the road again and journey along the Pacific Coast, exploring beautiful Big Sur and the McWay Falls, an 80ft waterfall that pours onto a secluded beach. Wander the coastal paths and spot whales and sea lions. Settle into camp and watch the gorgeous Californian sunset. Tonight is the final night of your adventure! Please note: Due to recent storm damage, the Pacific Coast Highway is closed in the Big Sur Area. Until further notice, this tour will no longer stop at McWay falls, instead travelling directly to the San Luis Obispo area from San Francisco. Day 14: Santa Barbara & Los Angeles Just one more stop before you return to L.A. Enjoy the beach paradise of Santa Barbara with its miles of pristine coastline and funky art galleries and boutique shops. Check out the perfect people of Venice Beach before cruising into L.A. where your epic road trip comes to an end. You will return at 5pm. You can either book an extra night of accommodation and depart tomorrow or head off tonight for a post 9pm flight. Arrival Information Your tour begins at 7:30am at your hotel in Los Angeles. Due to this early start, we recommend booking an extra night of accommodation before your tour begins (at own cost). The hotel operates a free transfer service from the airport to the hotel, departing every 20 minutes. Your tour ends on day 14 at 5pm at the hotel in L.A. You can either book an extra night of accommodation and depart the next day or head off immediately for a post 9pm flight. You can catch the same transfer service back to the airport. Accommodation & Meals 13 nights of accommodation are included on this tour. 9 nights will be spent in twin-share samesex tents on American campsites. Most campsites will have hot showers and flush toilets. Some campsites may charge an additional fee of USD1-3 to use the showers. 2 nights will be spent in hotels and 2 nights will be spent in hostels. Accommodation will be either twin-share or multi-share. Meals are not included in the tour price. You will need to contribute USD10 per day to the food kitty to cover your meals at camp. All cooking equipment will be provided and you will take turns in preparing and cooking food around the campfire. In the cities you may wish to eat out in a local restaurant so please bring extra funds to cover these special nights out. Minimum age & eligibility The minimum age to join this group tour is 18. Please remember that the legal drinking age in the USA is 21. If you are under 21 you will not be allowed entry into bars, casinos or pubs. British Nationals visiting the USA will be able to travel (for tourism purposes) under the US Visa Waiver Programme for durations of up to 90 days. All travellers going to the United States will have to complete the ESTA form online for authorisation under the Visa Waiver Programme. If you intend to stay for longer than this, plan to work, have ever been arrested or hold any criminal convictions however, you will need to apply for a visa.
