General Information: Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve: The Makgadikgadi is in fact a series of pans, the largest of which are Sowa and Ntwetwe, both of which are surrounded by a myriad of smaller pans. North of these two pans are Kudiakam pan, Nxai Pan and Kaucaca Pan. Interspersed between the pans are sand dunes, rocky islands and peninsulas, and desert terrain. No vegetation can grow on the salty surface of the pans, but the fringes are covered with grasslands. Massive baobab trees populate some fringe areas and their silhouettes create dramatic landscapes against a setting sun. The Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve with an area of 3 900 sq kms incorporates the western end of Ntwetwe, extensive grasslands and acacia woodland. At its northern boundary, it meets the Nxai Pan National Park, separated only by the Nata- Maun Road. In the wet season, this reserve can offer good wildlife viewing, particularly when large herds of zebra and wildebeest begin their westward migration to the Boteti region. other species include gemsbok, eland and red hartebeest, as well as kudu, bushbuck, duiker, giraffe, springbok, steenbok, and even elephant, with all the accompanying predators, as well as the rare brown hyena. Humans have inhabited areas of the pans since the Stone age, and have adapted to geographical and climatic changes as they have occurred. Archaeological sites on the pans are rich with Early Man s tools, and the bones of the fish and animals he ate. Human inhabitation has continued to the present day; and a number of villages, including Mopipi, Mmatshumo, Nata, Gweta and Rakops, are situated on the fringes of the pans.

Meno A Kwena Tented Camp: The safari camp: Meno A Kwena Tented Camp accommodates up to 16 guests in eight fully serviced canvas tents. The company is owner-operated and so personal attention to detail is maintained with a lifetime background in African safaris and conservation. "The ultimate luxury accommodation of an African safari is watching herds of wildlife drinking at the river from a canvas tent, or taking a shower in full view of the setting sun as the first roar of a lion echoes across the river below. It is these luxuries that enhance the authentic safari camp comforts of home." Our people: Our safari guests are the key to wildlife conservation through sustainable tourism to the people of Botswana. We strive to maintain a sustainable balance that exceeds our guests safari experience expectations and in so doing, contributing to the economy of developing countries, that secures a future for our wildlife and their ecosystems Central Kalahari Game Reserve: Nothing prepares you for the immensity of this reserve, nor its wild, mysterious beauty. There is the immediate impression of unending space, and having the entire reserve to yourself. Waist-high golden grasses seem to stretch interminably, punctuated by dwarfed trees and scrub bushes. Wide and empty pans appear as vast white stretches of saucer-flat earth, meeting a soft, blue-white sky. At night the stars utterly dominate the land; their brilliance and immediacy are totally arresting. The Central Kalahari game Reserve (CKGR) is the largest, most remotely situated reserve in Southern Africa, and the second largest wildlife reserve in the world, encompassing 52 800 sq kms. During and shortly after good summer rains, the flat grasslands of the reserve s northern reaches teem with wildlife, which gather at the best grazing areas. These include large herds of springbok and gemsbok, as well as wildebeest, hartebeest, eland and giraffe.

Wilderness Kalahari Plains Camp Endless skies, ancient cultures, abundant summers, insightful winters Kalahari Plains Camp is set in a remote part of the diverse and productive Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) and offers some of the best summer wildlife viewing opportunities in Africa. Located in the Kalahari Desert biome in the central part of Botswana, this reserve is the largest conservation area in the country and one of the largest in the world. Its star attractions include the legendary Kalahari black-maned lion as well as some of the world's best cheetah viewing. Kalahari Plains Camp is perfectly situated overlooking an immense pan with endless horizons and beautiful skies. It comprises 10 en-suite canvas units with a sleep-out above each from which to enjoy moonlit or star-studded nights. The main area consists of a lounge and dining area with a swimming pool and deck. Solar power provides all the electricity and hot water in the camp and insulated canvas walls and roof keep temperatures inside the units comfortable.

Shakawe River Lodge: Introducing Shakawe River Lodge, an exquisite privately owned luxury lodge, set on the banks of the Okavango River, in North Western Botswana. This tranquil African paradise boasts a stylish lodge and luxurious river escape set in the magnificent natural setting of the beautiful main Okavango River. The river feeds and channels its crystal clear waters through the entire Okavango Delta. Each of the ten spacious, en suite, air-conditioned suites are beautifully appointed and fitted with state of the art finishing s. Tucked away in the shady riverine forest, the view from your private deck looks out over a small channel, lined with an expanse of papyrus and an abundance of incredible birdlife. Mahango National Park: If you are looking for somewhere off the beaten track with a true wilderness feel, the Mahango area of the Bwabwata National Park is well worth considering. Located in the north east of Namibia on the Botswana border, the contrasting vegetation of the 25 400 hectare Mahango Game Reserve is widely considered one of Namibia s most varied and fascinating conservation areas. There are three distinct habitats that can be identified, the river, which offers a blend of trees, reeds and grasses along its banks and on the wetlands. The Omurambas, which are fossil rivers, are covered with open grassland with tall acacia and bushwillow around the borders. Between the Mahango Omuramba in the north and the Thinderevu Omuramba in the south the vegetation is open dry woodland with some thick patches of Zambezi teak, wild seringa and wild teak. Year round water ensures an abundance of game. Mahango is home to many antelope, if you are fortunate you may spot; roan, sable, reedbuck, tsessebe, sitatunga, red lechwe, kudu, Chobe bushbuck, Duiker and Steenbok. Apart from antelope you can expect to see Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wildog, Hippo, Crocodile, Warthog Baboon and Vervet Monkey. The large herds of elephant are migrants, moving between Angola and the Okavango Delta, outside the dry season sightings will be fewer.

Zambezi Queen: Located along the banks of the great Chobe River, the Zambezi Queen, affectionately known as the ZQ, offers world-class sophistication in one of the most remote locations on earth. With only 14 suites, the ZQ is as unique and adventurous as it is comfortable and elegant. In fact, it is unsurpassed in all aspects and the last word in Luxury African River Safaris. Each suite features air-conditioning and a private balcony, offering unobstructed views of the river and vistas. Enjoy remarkable game viewing from the comfort of your bedside. Whether dining on the upper deck restaurant while watching the animals gather at dusk, doing a water-based river safari from one of our private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, our professional team will be on hand to meet your every need. Unlike a land-based lodge, the ZQ allows for an entire stretch of river to be explored from a vantage point making for incredible game viewing. And rightly so, as the banks of the Chobe National Park boast one of the densest populations of elephant on the African continent currently estimated at approximately 120 000. The Park is also home to a large number of buffalo, leopard, lion along with a variety of antelope and abundant birdlife. Built in the early 1990s, the Zambezi Queen was created to carry its guests on an extended journey from Katima Mulilo down the Chobe and Zambezi Rivers and back. The sheer size of the vessel made navigating difficult and shortly after that, the Zambezi Queen ended up moored along the river bank where it acted as a floating hotel to visitors to the Caprivi Region of Namibia. Around 2008, two entrepreneurs saw the potential of restoring the boat to its former glory. A period of intensive re-designing and planning ensued. A third deck was added, giving the ZQ its imposing iconic look now famed worldwide. Celebrated South African fashion designer Jenni Button lent a hand in the classic yet contemporary interior with understated muted tones. Cleverly, this not only highlights the feeling of space but allows the eye to be drawn to the constant movement of the wildlife on the banks of the river. Once the champagne bottle had smashed against the hull of the elegant new ZQ, it took to the waters again only this time languidly making its way along the banks of the Chobe National Park, famed for its prolific wildlife.
