The world s most northerly capital combines colorful buildings, quirky, creative people, eyepopping design and a capricious soul to devastating effect. In many ways Reykjavík is strikingly cosmopolitan for its size. After all, it's merely a town by international standards, and yet it's loaded with excellent museums, captivating art, rich culinary choices, and funky cafes and restaurants. Late Collect your luggage and move through customs and immigration. Meet your local Icelandic Tour Manager and load the coach. Depart on a Guided Sightseeing Tour of Reykjavik which will take you past such highlights as the Hallgrimskirkja church, the presidential residence at Bessastadir, the fish market in Hafnarfjordur, the open-air Arbaer Museum and more! Lunch on your own in Reykjavik. Transfer and check-in to a local hotel. Dinner as a group in Reykjavik then return to the hotel. DAY TWO: REYKJAVIK (B,D) Performance #1 After breakfast, depart for a visit to the National Museum of Iceland. The museum offers a variety of fascinating exhibitions and one permanent display lavishly illustrating the story of Iceland s past, from the medieval days of Viking settlements to current contemporary culture. The main exhibition has over 2,000 artifacts discovered in various parts of the country. This afternoon, enjoy some free time for shopping and lunch on own in central Reykjavik. Depart for this evening s performance venue possibly the Reykjavik College of Music or Iceland Academy of the Arts (TBC). Group rehearsal at tonight s concert venue. DAY THREE: REYKJAVIK (B,D) Today enjoy the classic Golden Circle Tour! This excursion offers some of the best-known natural phenomena of Iceland. First, you will visit Nesjavellir, a high-temperature geothermal area situated in the picturesque landscape of Lake Þingvallavatn. This area supplies approximately 25% of the hot water needed to provide central heating to the Icelandic capital. A few miles north you will enter Þingvellir, a national park, before continuing on to Alþingi, home of Iceland's ancient parliament. Lunch on your own en route. Continue on to the impressive waterfall, Gullfoss, and the geothermal area, Geysir. Next visit a beautiful church, Skálholt, the ancient seat of Icelandic Bishops, revealing a part of Iceland s religious past. You will also visit the greenhouse community, Hveragerði. Here you will see how Icelanders have harnessed the natural geothermal energy of Iceland to grow vegetables, fruits and exotic plants. A short drive through the highly mountainous region will bring you back to the capital. Dinner as a group in Reykjavik and the rest of this evening is free. DAY FOUR: REYKJAVIK (B,D) Clinic & Performance #2 This morning possibly enjoy a clinic with an Icelandic composer, focusing on one of their compositions. Lunch on own in central Reykjavík. Here the famous Icelandic Saga of Njáll occurred. Your first experience today will be a Glacier Hike on Mýrdalsjökull. Lunch en route (sandwich or box lunch). After lunch, enjoy some off-roading in the Super Jeeps including along the unique black sands of the Icelandic coastline. You will then have an opportunity to stand behind Seljalandsfoss, a plummeting waterfall. Next up is Skógafoss, a picture perfect waterfall located at Skógar. Late afternoon, return to Reykjavík via an offroad route. Dinner on your own in Reykjavík and this evening is free.
