Arrive in London Heathrow 05:55hrs Flight duration: 17h 05m with 1 stop in Kuala Lumpur Class: Economy with meals served on board NOTE: This itinerary could be updated due to reasons out of the control of AZUZOO. Detailed Itinerary This tour is designed for those who wish to experience the best of Malaysia with its colourful culture and stunning scenery. Malaysia is well known for its diversity and this tour aims to illuminate these differences, from the metropolitan city of Kuala Lumpur with its iconic skyscrapers that grace the city s skyline to exploring the wonders of an ancient forest at Taman Negara, (Malaysia s largest hill resort of Cameron Highlands where undulating valleys and sprawling tea plantations sit side-by-side with terraced flower gardens and vegetable farms) through to a UNESCO World Heritage City, the delightful Penang, which is a fusion of nature, culture and history. Finally your tour will end on Langkawi an island that is shrouded in myths and mystery, which is part of an archipelago of 99 islands on the eastern coast of the peninsula where the beaches are just fabulous. Travel outbound (Example) London Heathrow (LHR) Kuala Lumpur (KUL) Flight with Eithad Airways leaving London Heathrow 09.35hrs Arrive in Kuala Lumpur 10.10hrs (+1) Flight duration: 17h 35m with 1 stop in Abu Dhabi Class: Economy with meals served on board Day 1 Kuala Lumpur (Arrival) Arrive in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Meet & greet at the airport and transfer to hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Day 2 Kuala Lumpur (B, L) Breakfast at the hotel 5

This morning, have your comfortable walking shoes and hat/cap ready as today takes you through the Heritage Trails of the early cultures in Malaysia and provides an insight into the country s multi-cultural society. Places of interest on the Trail include; Chan See Shu Yuen Clan House (one of the most interesting clan House in Malaysia); China Town (with its pre-war buildings); Sri Maha Mariamman (Hindu) Temple; the Central Market built in 1930; Sze Yeh Temple; Jamek Mosque (a prime example of North Indian Islamic architecture) and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Merdeka Square. (NB The Jamek Mosque is closed on Fridays.) After your tour, you ll have an opportunity for a local banana leaf lunch. Banana leaf rice is a traditional method of serving rice and dishes on a banana leaf. Due to the migration of South Indians to Malaysia, this has become a part of the daily choice of Malaysian meals. Transfer back to hotel and overnight in Kuala Lumpur. Day 3 Kuala Lumpur (B) Breakfast at the hotel with a day at leisure to experience all that the Capital has to offer. Overnight in Kuala Lumpur. Day 4 Kuala Lumpur - Taman Negara (B, D) After breakfast, you ll depart your hotel at 8.00am and travel overland to Kuala Tembeling Jetty arriving at approximately 11.00am. Here you ll need to register for your entry permit and camera license (which can only be paid on site) and have a bit of lunch. From here we ll proceed overland to Kuala Tahan and take a short boat ride (leaving at 11.30am) across the river to reach Mutiara Taman Negara. Our expected arrival at Mutiara Taman Negara Resort will be around 2.30pm and once here you can register for your Chalet. Buffet dinner will be in Seri Mutiara Restaurant at 7.00pm and at 8.30pm there will be an opportunity to embark on an Evening night jungle walk accompanied by a 6

Nature Guide. Here you will be able to discover the jungle coming alive at night and it is a great chance to familiarise yourself with nocturnal plants and insects and observe them up close. Overnight in Taman Negara. Day 5 Taman Negara (B, L, D) will be early this morning at 7.30am. At 9.30am you ll leave for a visit to Canopy Walk. This is an elevated walkway 500m long strung up 30 meters above ground level and the views from here are spectacular. We then continue the trip with a trek to the Teresek Hill and afterwards have lunch back at Seri Mutiara Restaurant. At 2.30pm we ll board a longboat for the trip to the beautiful cascading waterfalls of Lata Berkoh where you ll have the opportunity to swim in the clear waters of the waterfall and enjoy the best that nature has to offer. The journey back is a wonderful experience too as you drift downstream without the usage of the boats motors. (There is also a short jungle trek required prior to this.) At 4.00pm there is (subject to availability) a video presentation on Taman Negara National Park at the Interpretive Centre which is well worth experiencing. Buffet dinner will be at Seri Mutiara Restaurant and overnight you will stay again in Taman Negara. Day 6 Taman Negara - Cameron Highlands (B, Afternoon Tea) After breakfast, you ll checkout from Mutiara Taman Negara and take the boat across the river to Kuala Tahan which will only take about 5 minutes. The driver will meet you at Kuala Tahan Jetty and proceed with your overland journey to Cameron Highlands, which will take about 4.5 hours. Cameron Highlands are named after William Cameron, a British surveyor who stumbled across the plateau in 1885 during a mapping expedition. Failing to mark his discovery on the map, the location of the plateau was finally confirmed by subsequent expeditions and in 1925, Sir George Maxwell visited the highlands and decided to develop it as a hill station. A development committee was then formed which functioned until 1931. During this time, the winding road up to the highlands was constructed - which was done entirely by manual labour! 7

En-route you will have the opportunity to take lunch (not included.) In the afternoon you will arrive at the Lakehouse and rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure, although afternoon Tea will be served at the terrace (anytime between 3.00pm - 5.30pm; please inform the reception on your preferred timing on your arrival.) Rest of the day at leisure and overnight at Cameron Highlands. Day 7 Cameron Highlands (B, Tea sampling & Snack) After breakfast, we pick you up from your hotel for a full day combination tour of the Mossy Forest of Gunung Brinchang! Hop into our Land Rover and cruise along the picturesque rolling tea garden, The Gunung Brinchang at 6,666 feet above sea level. Listen to our guides tea talks while enjoying the breathtaking view of the tea garden. On clear days the drive up to this garden - the highest mountain accessible by road in South East Asia! - one will be blessed with magnificent views of the surrounding area. An interpretive walk with our Nature Guide into the Mossy Forest will reveal some of the most exotic floras on earth, like the Pitcher plant, Orchids, Primitive Ferns, Spices and Medicinal Plants. A short drive down from the mountain will bring you to the Sungei Palas BOH Tea Factory, where here we will have a factory tour. At the Tea Factory you will be guided by tea experts on how tea is made and learn to appreciate this global drink. The tour starts with a Tea Bush Walk at the tea plantation followed by a factory tour with some tea sampling to taste the different levels and grade of tea, finishing off with a relaxing tea and snacks served at the café with a magnificent view of the tea plantation. (Note: Tea factory is closed on Mondays.) After your tea, your driver/guide will take you on a tour of Cameron Highlands covering the Rose Garden and vegetable farms where Entrance Fees are included. After we ll return back to your hotel where the rest of the evening is free for leisure. Overnight at Cameron Highlands. Day 8 Cameron Highlands Ipoh Penang (B, L) After enjoying breakfast at the hotel we ll head towards Penang and the town of Ipoh. 8

Before we get to Ipoh though we ll stop at Sam Poh Tong, a famous cave temple located in Gunung Rapat, about 5km south of Ipoh. This cave temple is said to be the biggest of its kind in the country, and from your visit you ll see that is an impressive work of art with various statues of Buddha interspersed among the stalactites and stalagmites. According to legend, a monk from China who was passing through Ipoh discovered the cave in 1890 and he decided to make it his home and a place for meditation. He remained there for 20 years until his death. Today, nuns and monks who dedicate their lives to Buddha still occupy the Sam Poh Tong. Afterwards we ll move on to the older part of Ipoh, popularly known as Old Town. This quaint town was once a thriving commercial centre in the 19th century as a result of the tin mining boom, and we ll walk the streets and take you on a culinary-historical adventure to savour the best that Ipoh has to offer from the quintessential Ipoh Sar Hor Fun (Rice Noodles) to melt-in-your-mouth kaya puffs to the popular soya bean drink and dessert. Then we ll walk off these calories by exploring historical buildings built during the British colonial era. From here, we ll head up north to Penang passing over the Penang Bridge and arrive in the city in the late afternoon. After checking in, the rest of the day and evening are free for you to explore the hotel and environs. Day 9 Penang (B, L) Eat a light breakfast today! Around 8am, you ll meet your driver / guide and proceed to the oldest wet market in Georgetown. Taking a stroll down this market you will find fresh food, cheap clothes and knick-knacks being sold in a way that has not changed for generations, and existed long before the arrival of hygienic, but impersonal, air-conditioned supermarkets. From your walk you ll appreciate the feeling of cheerfulness about these noisy, bustling places and you will find them entertaining. You may also try your hands at picking and prodding, haggling and being rejected! As you walk past these different food stalls offering different morning breakfasts please do let your driver / guide know if you would like to try some of these tastes and flavours, and definitely ask about the all-time favourite Roti Bakar & Kopi O. After enjoying some local favourites, walk the streets of Georgetown. Starting your 9

walk from St. George s Church, the oldest Anglican Church in Southeast Asia, we ll then continue on to the Goddess of Mercy Temple, passing by colourful stalls where flower garlands are made. Then we will walk pass King Street, where the guide will give a brief explanation on King Street temples. Then cutting into Market Street, we arrive at spice shops, where the various uses of spices are explained and how they are used in cooking. Along the way, we also walk past Saree shops, accessories, joss sticks and an old mill grinding chilly and spices. Then past food stalls with an explanation on the different morning breakfasts offered by these stalls including Roti Canai and Teh Tarik. From Market Street, we turn to Queen Street and visit the Sri Mariamman Temple (a Hindu Temple) and then continue on to the final stop that is the Khoo Kongsi. The Khoo Kongsi is a large Chinese clan house with elaborate and highly ornamented architecture, a mark of the dominant presence of the Chinese in Penang. It is also one of the city's major historic attractions. It is located in Cannon Square in the heart of the oldest part of the city of George Town in the midst of narrow, winding lanes and quaint-looking pre-war houses exuding a palpable old world charm. After lunch, we head to Kek Lok Si Temple. Built in 1891, this is one of the largest and finest temples complexes in Southeast Asia. With millions of magnificent images of Buddha and hundreds of beautiful meaningful carvings, sculptures and murals in the interior and exterior of the temple halls, pagodas and archways, Kek Lok Si Temple is not just a centre for Chinese culture and Buddha teaching, but also an unique heritage treasure where Mahayana Buddhism and traditional Chinese rituals blend into a harmonious whole, both in the temple architecture and the daily activities of worshipers. Return to the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Day 10 Penang (B) and a day at leisure to relax at your beach hotel. Overnight at hotel. Day 11 Penang Langkawi (B) After breakfast, we ll transfer you to the airport for your flight to Langkawi. We ll meet and greet you on arrival at Langkawi and proceed to your hotel for check-in. After arriving in Langkawi the remains of the day are free at leisure. Overnight at Langkawi. 10

Day 12 Langkawi (B) After breakfast and a restful morning at the hotel, after lunch, you can explore the island with the Langkawi Island Tour. This is fascinating tour that will take you through the urban and rural areas of legendry Langkawi. Go up the second highest mountain in a cable car ride and get bird s eye view of the island and afterwards access the Skybridge, a curved pedestrian bridge built atop Mt. Machinchang at a height about 700m above sea level. This bridge is accessible from the Top Station, and it is suspended from an 82m high single pylon and hangs at about 100m above the ground. It swings out over the landscape to give visitors a unique view of the surrounding area! Then we go on to visit the Rice Garden, one of Langkawi s eco-tourism attractions, which is definitely not something you will expect to see on an island like Langkawi. Here, you will be able to see a long stretch of paddy field, infusing senses of freshness and at the same time bringing you closer to nature. Apart from merely looking at the green paddy, visitors will also get to learn more about their specific species. After we will transfer you back to the hotel with the remains of the day at leisure.
