Karibu, Tanzania & Kenya 8 Nights / 9 Days Day 01 Arrive Dar es Salaam Arrive at Dar es Salaam International airport and take a connecting flight to Arusha airport. At Arusha airport, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to National Park (96 kms), which is a Tanzanian National Park located both in Arusha region and region, Tanzania. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Arrive at the park and check in at your game lodge. Lunch at the lodge. Then proceed for a late evening game drive one can see elephants, baboons and a range of other game like wildebeest, buffalo, hippos, zebras, impalas etc. The main activity for visitors to is day time game driving, although the park has recently started to offer night safaris and the camps deep inside the park offer short walks. Staying in the Rift Valley outside the park however does open up a wealth of possibilities, with activities such as walking, village trips, hiking and mountain biking available at some lodges. Day 02 Serengeti National Park After breakfast, check out and transfer to Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tanzania (approx 3 hrs drive). The national park protects the greatest and most varied collection of terrestrial wildlife on earth, and one of the last great migratory systems still intact. The Serengeti is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania s protected areas, which altogether make up some 14% of the country s land area, a conservation record that few other countries can match. The annual migration to permanent water holes of vast herds of herbivores (wildebeest, gazelles and zebras), followed by their predators, is one of the most impressive natural events in the world. The biological diversity of the park is very high with at least four globally threatened or endangered animal species: black rhinoceros, elephant, wild dog, and cheetah. Nearly one million wildebeest and 200,000 zebras move from the northern hills to the south every October and November during the short rains. They then move toward the west and north from April to June when the long rains progress. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. The essential features of climate, vegetation and fauna have barely changed in the past million years. Wildlife viewing in the Serengeti Ecosystem with its Great Migration is tremendous! Day 03 Serengeti National Park Early morning proceed for a game drive the 14,763 sq km Serengeti National Park is also renowned for its predators, especially its lions. Hunting alongside the lions are cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, jackals and more. These feast on zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, Thomson s and Grant s gazelles, elands, hartebeest, impalas, duikers and so many more. It s an incredible bird watching destination, too, with over 500 species. Then return back to your lodge for breakfast. Relax in your lodge. Lunch is at the lodge. Day 04 Serengeti National Park After breakfast, check out and transfer to (approx 1 ½ hrs drive). The Conservation Area is a protected area and a World Heritage Site located 180 km west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The jewel in Nogrongoro s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. Arrive at and check in at one of the many luxury lodges situated within and outside the conservation area. Take the adventure of the lifetime and observe wildlife in its natural undisturbed habitat. Its uniqueness lays in the fact that the area is where man, livestock and wild animals live in peace: Maasai cattle can sometimes be seen grazing alongside zebras on s grassland. The area contains over 25,000 large animals including black rhinoceros, almost 7000 wildebeests, around 4,000 zebras, around 3,000 gazelles. The crater also has the densest known population of lions. Higher up, in the rainforests of the crater rim, are leopards, large elephants and more than 4,000 buffalos, spotted hyenas, jackals, rare wild dogs, cheetahs, and other felines. The legendary annual wildebeest and zebra migration also passes through, when the 1.7 million ungulates move south into the area in December then move out heading north in June. Day 05 After breakfast, proceed to see the crater and the safari in an open 4x4, the crater is renowned both for its geological 2plendor, and for being a natural reserve which is home to some of the densest large mammal populations found anywhere in Africa. Besides this also see large concentration of game. The mineralrich floor of this spectacular bowl is largely flat, open and covered in nutritious grasses much to the liking of large herds of zebra and wildebeest, which graze here. These extensive open plains are also home to herds of buffalo, gazelle, You ll also find East Africa s best population of black rhino here, which are often seen in open grasslands. Breeding herds of elephant pass through the Crater itself only rarely, but you will see a scattering of old bulls, including some of the biggest tuskers left alive in Africa today. One can also see spotted hyenas and lions and leopards. Also see the 30 mile long Olduvai Gorge a steep sided ravine in the Great Rift Valley, one of the most important pre-historic sites in the world. It also has genuine fossils of some of the extinct animals that use to live in this area. Lunch at the lodge. Then relax and enjoy the lodge activities guided walking safaris around the rim of the crater, visiting a traditional Maasai cultural village where you can see the Maasai s dancing and their local handicrafts, enjoy a private bush lunch (at an additional cost). Overnight at the luxury lodge in Nogorongoro. Day 06 Maasai Mara After early breakfast, check out and transfer to Maasai Mara (approx 4 hrs drive). ). It is located in Narok County. This is one of Africa s greatest reserves and offers the most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possible the world s top safari big game viewing. It stretches upto 1510 sq kms and has over 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 500 species of birds. Here you can get some of the best wildlife viewing in the world. July-Oct is the best time to see the wildebeest migration. Also, December to February are great times as it is dryer and good for the Big Cats. Arrive in time for lunch.
