A HOP SKIP AND JUMP FROM MONT BLANC Family trek with donkeys Taking your family to the mountains for a few days... it is good to have a few secrets up your sleeve so that the children are not discouraged on their first adventure. Firstly, two donkeys who will follow your path, carry your luggage and picnics and who will become close companions for the children, who can care for them and even ride on their backs around the refuge. Next, a fun route... to Lac d'anterne for a stone skimming competition, a dip in the river, the viewpoint at Dérochoir for the thrill and the view of the Mont Blanc, and the natural bathtub for washing... Finally, a beautiful mountain, a nature reserve, where wildlife is abundant, a real 'marmotland'! The Fiz mountain range, is the gateway to the Mont Blanc, a real life mountain postcard to offer your children... 6 days Guided With baggage transport Accommodation : Classique (dortoir) Level : ** From : 575 You will like The strange sculpted limestone landscapes. The route Day 1 Meet at 14:30 in the village of Salvagny, Sixt-fer-à-cheval SALVAGNY - HAMEAU DES FONTS Welcome and introduction to our four legged friends. How to look after the animals, the safety rules and how to move the donkeys along with some gentle coaxing and kind cuddles! Depart on a mule trail towards the mountain pastures of Fonts under the imposing rockfaces of the Mont Buet. Night in a refuge. 3 hour walk / Elevation: +460m Day 2 LES FONTS - PLATEAU D ANTERNE Depart for the Col d'anterne at 2038m, the gateway to the vast mountain pastures of Anterne at the foot of the Fiz chain of mountains. We can make the most of this first climb to observe numerous chamois in this wild valley. Picnic and then an easy descent towards the Alfred Willis refuge. Once settled in, it is possible to swim in the small stream, watch marmots playing in the evening sun or practice yoga in the fields around the refuge... 4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +670m -230m Day 3 LAC D ANTERNE A circuit itinerary from the refuge and rest day for the donkeys! Climb to Lac d'anterne, over the limestone rocks. Watch marmots, eagles and maybe a vulture nested close by. A geology lesson about the loss of water from the lake and then carry on the climb to the Col d'anterne at 2257m or onto the ridgeline of the Arête de Villy at 2463m facing the Mont Blanc, depending on the fitness of the group.descend back to the refuge. 4 hour walk / Elevation: +/-450m Col d Anterne 5.5 hour walk / Elevation: +/-650m Arête de Villy Day 4 ANTERNE - VALLON DE SALES Depart from the refuge, traverse the plateau and hopping over streams to descend to the "weeping" waterfall, 'Pleureuse de Sales'. From here the path climbs along the rockface to the Sales valley where the acrobatic, mountain agile Ibex, are never far away... A few bends later we arrive in the village of Sales. Night in a refuge or tents for those who wish. No showers at the refuge due to a limited supply of source water. Toilet facilities available. 4.5 hour walk / Elevation: -430m +500m Day 5 LE DESERT DE PLATE - LA COMBE DE GERS Depart from Sales on a small track which climbs to the Combe des Foges and the Col Pelouse at 2343 m through the limestone rocks typical of the Désert de Platé. We may be lucky to see a herd of ibex on this wild mountain pasture... From the Col Pelouse descend through the vast open valley of Gers. Night in a gîte on the shores of Lac de Gers. 5 hour walk / Elevation: +460 m -800 m via the Col Pelouse 4 hour walk / Elevation: +320m -650m via the Chalets de Foges

Day 6 SALES - SALVAGNY Easy departure through the beautiful chamois dotted Gers valley to descend to civilisation via a small trail, perched between two streams and the Saubaudy waterfall, to the village of Salvagny. 4 hour walk / Elevation: -780m End point Friday at 15:00 in Salvagny. The itinerary is established according to the latest information available, the possibility of unknown factors affecting this itinerary is possible including situations beyond our control which may change the route, timings etc. Personnalised tour available, please ask... LEVEL ** The trip Elevation: +/- 500m average per day. Walking time: 4-5 hours average per day. Type of trek: Flexible adaptable routes. Easy treks from 8 to 12km maximum per day. Tour open to children from 8 years old. GUIDING Number in a group between 6-14 people supervised by a qualified professional mountain leader. TRAVELLING WITH A DONKEY Donkeys are your childrens companions. They motivate them to walk beside them, carry the bags for the day, enjoy being brushed, lead by the bridle and cuddled. They can carry a tired young hiker (children 40kg maximum) on their backs, when the terrain permits. Donkeys walk at around 4kmh so are not built for travelling rapidly, but with a little firmness and lots of affection, you'll quickly win over your hiking companion. One donkey is provided for 3-4 children. The donkey is a docile, placid and gentle creature but has its own character! It can be unpredictable and we must always remain vigilant. During the hike, the possibility for a child to sit on the donkey is the sole responsibility of the adult responsible for the child. It is therefore requested to have accident and personal liability insurance. ACCOMMODATION 5 nights in dormitory in mountain refuges. Possibility to camp if you wish. All accommodation has hot showers except Refuge de Sales (toilet facilities only). MEALS Breakfast and dinner are provided in each accommodation. Picnics are included and are carefully prepared daily by your mountain leader, comprising a variety of a healthy salads and local products.
