The DOMAIN of CHANTILLY The Domain of Chantilly is an exceptional site consists mainly of the Castle, Great stables and racecourse situated in forest over 6000 hectares Shaped from the Middle Ages to the 19th century by its various owners, the history of the Domain of Chantilly is closely intertwined with the History of France.
It was the «Grand Condé», the Sun King s cousin who transformed Chantilly and made it a prestigious residence. He called on the gardener André Le Nôtre, to create the magnificent grounds we have today. With the revolution,the «Grand Château» is distroyed but not entirely. The Duke of Aumale, heir to the Condé, does rebuilding it and at his death bequeathed to the Institute de France, the entire Domaine de Chantilly with his collections.
