Welcome! Whether you and your family are just getting to know us, or you are returning to Morning Star for another fun and exciting summer, we welcome you to Summer Camp 2018. The summer camp counselors are committed to providing your child with a safe and highly stimulating camp program this year. Each week your camper will enjoy a new and exciting themed week with field trips, visitors, and exciting activities. We also will be continuing with our outdoor classroom where the campers will learn, teach, and grow together. The outdoor classroom allows campers to learn new skills through art, science, math and language. The campers will then demonstrate and display these new skills to the other camps and allowing them to share the experience. Camp Morning Star is offered to three different age groups: Scampers Camp (rising Kindergarteners), Junior Camp (rising 1st and 2nd graders) and Day Camp (rising 3rd -5th graders and current 5 th graders). Junior Camp and Day Camp run May 25th through August 7th. Scampers Camp begins May 25th and ends August 21st to accommodate the staggered starting time for Kindergarten students. Each camp will follow a summer curriculum, full of age appropriate activities geared towards learning and having fun all summer long. Monday - Thursday campers will enjoy swimming in our on-site pool (weather permitting). Field trips for Junior Campers and Day Campers will be throughout the week, with Scampers having field trips every Wednesday. Splash Country signups are available for Day camp only. Limited spots are available on a first come first serve basis. Kona Ice will also come once a week for all campers. Those who want to purchase a flavored Kona Ice must bring $2. Every camper will get free a t-shirt if they register before May 1st. A great way to ensure that you get the best possible price in the future is encouraging friends and family to join camp with you. We are offering a 10% Bring a Friend discount on the weeks you bring a friend (that has not previously attended MSCDC Camp)! We are also offering a 10% discount on the 1st week of attendance to alumni campers that return for the 2018 summer. We would also like to encourage all parents to participate and get involved this summer by chaperoning a field trip and participating in our outdoor classroom! Field trips are a fun and exciting part of camp, but they cannot happen without parent participation. We are asking that each trip be chaperoned by at least two adults, in addition to staff, to ensure that all trips are fun and safe for everyone. Sign up for a trip and take this opportunity to spend time with your camper and see all that East Tennessee has to offer! Please fill out a chaperone form and return to the front office. Stay informed with mscdcsummercamp@gmail.com and Facebook at Morning Star Summer Camp. Parents can either print the registration forms online at www.morningstarchild.com or pick up a form from the front office and return the completed form to us prior to the beginning of the camp. Tuition is figured monthly and should be paid one month ahead of time. All prices are final and there will be no refund for cancellation after May 25th. If you want to add a day, please inform the office at least one day prior. There is no registration fee for current students or past campers, a one time $35 fee is applicable to first time campers only. Please feel free to contact the front office for any additional questions either by phone or email. Thank you, Summer Camp Staff

Camp Information We are so glad that you have decided to spend your summer with us! We look forward to an awesome summer. Here are a few things you need to know before camp starts: Arrival is between 7:00a-8:00a. There will be no breakfast allowed after 8:00a. Morning Star provides two snacks and a nutritious lunch; therefore, we ask you to leave outside food at home, unless your child has dietary restrictions. PLEASE INFORM THE CAMP COUNSELORS OF ANY ALLERGIES ON THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP (SUNSCREEN, FOOD, BEES, ETC)! Children will swim Monday Thursday, weather/fieldtrips permitting. All swim activities will be supervised by a certified lifeguard, and teacher to child ratios are doubled at the pool. Campers will be evaluated each week, in order to determine where they are best suited to swim (shallow, middle, deep). Life jackets, floaties, water wings and other floatation devices are not permitted in the pool. If your child does not bring their swim suit and water shoes, he or she will not be permitted to swim. Day & Jr. Campers will have 1 hour of media time on Fridays. Personal electronics (DS, MP3 players, etc) are not permitted any other day of the week. Scampers are not included in this media time. Day & Junior Campers; All personal electronic games brought from home must be rated E for everyone, and left in a designated box to be checked by camp counselors. All electronics should be labeled with child s name prior to use. Music must contain no profanity or mature subjects. Everything your child brings should be inside a backpack and labeled. All items are to be taken home daily and brought back the following day. Each trip requires a minimum of TWO (2) CHAPERONES, and larger trips with more travel time need more, so parents are welcome to join us on any and all field trips. Trips that require significant travel time will leave AT 8:00 SHARP! On these days, campers will go straight to the bus and snack will be provided at the destination. Please have your campers packed and ready to go before they arrive to camp. Apply sunscreen to your child BEFORE they arrive each day. We will reapply sunscreen before swim / pm outside time. Check the events board in the hallway, Facebook and your e-mail each week to learn about upcoming events.
