a nd Oogusu Mounta Hikg Courses At 242 meters Oogusu mounta is the highest peak on the Miura Pensula. The observation deck at the summit offers a 360 view. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Mt.Fuji and Tokyo Skytree. There is a small shop at the observation deck that sells stant noodles, snacks, and juice. Down below the mounta is a field that fills with rapeseed blossoms the sprg and cosmos flowers the fall. Hikg trails are very popular among hikers. Each course has its own characteristics. There are two trails leadg to the top of Oogusu Mounta. One trail, Oogusu ashaguchi Hikg Course, is accessible from Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop and the other, Maedabashi Hikg Course, is accessible from the Maedabashi bus stop. It is possible to connect the two courses to make a contuous route. Course 1: Oogusu ashaguchi Hikg Course This course is accessible from the Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop Gettg There: To Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop from Keikyu Yokosuka Chuo Bus termal By bus: From Keikyu Yokosuka Chuo bus station take bus No. 4 from termal 5 bound for Oogusu ashaguchi and get off at the fal stop, Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop. It will take about 50m to get to Oogusu ashaguchi from Yokosukachuo. The Hikg Course: From the bus stop walk northeast up the street passg Keikyu Store on your right and a convenience store on your left. There will be a sign ( Japanese) potg to Oogusu Mounta on your left. Follow the street to the left, it leads to the trail head and peak. From Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop to Oogusu mounta peak by Oogusu ashaguchi trail takes about 60mutes. Course 2: Maedabashi Hikg Course This course is accessible from the Maedabashi bus stop Gettg There: Maedabashi Bus stop from Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop By bus: Transfer at Oogusu ashaguchi bus stop for next bus bound for Zushi. Go three stops and get off at Maedabashi bus stop. On foot: Walk ten mutes toward Zushi until Maedabashi bus stop. The Hikg Course: From the bus stop cross the street and beg walkg toward Oogusu Mounta. Before crossg a bridge there is a sign potg to the trail on the right which follows the river. Follow until the top of the Oogusu Mounta. It will take about 70 mutes. Dependg on the season or weather, the river trail may be flooded. In this case contue on the road as this will bypass the river and re-jo the Maedabashi Hikg Course. Oogusu Mounta View House At the top of Oogusu Mounta there is an observation deck and small shop. Time of operation is from 9:00-16:00 daily. The shop may be closed on days of clement weather and other days as well. Only snacks and a few kds of beverages are sold. If you plan to have lunch at the top you should plan to brg your own food. Please note There are no garbage cans at the top. Everyone must pack out their own trash, left over food, and litter. The toilet at the top is a Japanese style washiki toilet. A western style toilet is not available. By Car Startg from Route 16 Honcho 1 chome stop light take route 26 toward Kugasa. Follow route 26 and pass through Kugasa jyujiro stoplight. Keep gog straight on route 26 until Kugasa Inter Iriguchi stoplight. Turn left at the Kugasa Inter Iriguchi stoplight and go straight until Sahara Kosaten stop light. At the Sahara Kosaten stop light a right on to route 27. Contue on route 27 to Shimada Koen stop light then take a left. Go straight until route 134 and take a right at Nobieki iriguchi stop light. Contue on route134 and turn right at Tsukuihamaeki iriguchi stop light then contue on until reachg the farm. a nd Kugasa yama Koen (Kugasa Mounta Park) 4-922 Oyabe Yokosuka Kugasa yama Koen (park) was chosen as one of the top 100 cherry blossom spots Japan. With approximately 2000 cherry trees, many people come to the Kugasa Cherry Blossom Festival each sprg. The park has much to offer at any time of the year. Visitors can enjoy playg the woods and water, watchg fireflies, and havg picnics the park. Children love searchg for sculptures made of withered branches and tree stumps that are located throughout the park. There is also a playground area. This is a great park for nature walks as well as watchg distant ships passg through Tokyo Bay. Kugasa yama Park offers a diversity of thgs to see and contues to rise popularity. Why not make it your next destation while out and about Yokosuka? Gettg there The park entrance is an approximate 750m walk from the Kugasa koen bus stop. By Bus: From Keikyu Yokosuka Chuo bus station take bus No.6 from termal 4 bound for Misaki higashigaoka and get off at Kugasa koen bus stop. The bus station is front of the AVE super market. It will take about 20m to get to Kugasa koen from Yokosukachuo. To the park entrance from the bus stop: From the Kugasa koen bus stop take the crosswalk across Route 26 and you will see a large sign ( Japanese) for Kugasa yama koen (Photo 1). The arrow on the sign pots the direction of the park entrance. Follow the road until you reach a second, much smaller sign with English (Photo 2). Take a right at the second sign and follow the road up the hill. On your left you will see, and pass, Kugasa Shre. Contue up the road and you will reach the park entrance. Photo 1 Photo 2 Please Note This park is accessible by car however parkg is very limited. There is NO parkg durg the Cherry Blossom season. Please use public transportation at all times. There are no shops sellg food the park. Food stalls (yatai) are set up only durg the cherry blossom festival. Plan to brg your own snacks and drks when visitg. Show your respect for Yokosuka parks and leave no trace. Plan to pack out your own trash, left over food and litter. Barbecug and fires are not permitted at the park. Trees the park have historical significance. Tree climbg, slackles, hammocks, etc. are not permitted.
