Minutes of the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Parents Committee Association of the 755 Parkland Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron held on October 04, 2012 at Muir Lake Community School commencing at 6:53 pm Minutes: Meeting Called to order: Announcements: Of the AGM meeting of the Parents Committee Association held Thursday, October 04, 2012 in the Art/Science room at Muir Lake Community School Meeting called to order at 6:53 pm by the chair Brian Nieminen. Vice Chair Brian Shaw announces that all cell phones be turned off for the duration of the meeting. Welcome: Chair Brian Nieminen welcomes all attending the meeting and asks everyone to sign the sign-in sheet that is circulating. Brian asks the meeting members to fill out a survey form that is being passed out by Donna Lynn Schmidt and pass them to the Secretary at the conclusion of the meeting. Introductions: The head table is introduced by Brian Nieminen. Please see attached Past Accomplishment document as it relates to the discussion Vice Chair Report: Brian Shaw reads the proposed new By-Laws Wayne Reitsma notes changes that need to be made Wayne comments that the By-Laws do not have to be read in entirety at the Annual General Meeting Brian Shaw notes the changes and suggests that a special and separate meeting be called for the Executive to make the amendments Wayne suggests that the By-Laws be accepted in Principle 15 hours additional flight time tabled until November Treasurer Report: Motion to accept the By-Laws in Principle Motioned by Bob Irwin seconded by Connie Keller Treasurers Report given by Secretary Barb Specht General Account: $ 41, 107.46 Casino Account: $ 6, 831.61 Canteen Account: $ 3, 256.70 All totals reported have the outstanding amounts already deducted Casino outstanding $ 63.47 General outstanding $ 110.54 Food $ 1, 970 Trip Committee ( Cashed Cheque for the Committee) $ 633.28 Kinnaird Bagpipes $ 159.94 Orientating Food Costs $6, 350 WEM Water Park Ticket Fund Raiser Bob Irwin asks for income and expenses for the 2011/ 2012 year. Barb produces and reads the Profit and Loss Standard for September 2011 through August 2012. Commonwealth Report Motion to approve Treasurer report Motioned by Bob Irwin seconded by Donna lynn Schmidt Connie Keller reports that she cannot see a playoff game this year Next games are October 5 th, October 13 th and November 2 nd. October 13 th game is between Edmonton and Saskatchewan. Expect approximately 40,000 people for the game. For Oct. 13 th, cooks need to arrive at 11:00, everyone else 12:00, gates open at 1:00 pm. Connie reports that there are gaps in all three games. Volunteers are needed Bob Irwin urges that volunteerism for Commonwealth is paramount Discussion follows Canteen Report: Tammy Holba is the new 755 Canteen Coordinator. Lee Harmider has stepped down. CO Report: Captain Plant reports that she is impressed with the 33 parents that came for the first night Thanks everyone for coming and being supportive Reports that the squadron is getting ready for the annual FTX weekend Wayne Reitsma asks when gliding is scheduled Captain Plant responds that our gliding has been pushed back and that we are scheduled for May gliding Bob Irwin asks where the FTX weekend will be Mayatan Lake RV Campground that the McNabb family is building at no cost to us for the Field Training Exercise (FTX) Bob Irwin asks for clarity on the Effective Speaking. Wayne Reitsma and Captain Plant respond that there are 3 cadets chosen per squadron per zone and any amount of cadets can join Wayne has organized it for the past 3 years and is on the Scholarship Board Effective speaking has Toast Masters, cadets learn to speak in front of people, develops cadet abilities in speaking, confidence builder, increases the chance of Scholarship and they learn write and speak techniques. Effective speaking will be held Wednesday nights from 6-7:00 pm by Lt Wolff Zones are in March, then Provincials, then Nationals in PEI Captain Plant can be reached at: 780-405-6585 or 405-7644 or by email: captainplant@shaw.ca Lt Anderson: Lt Anderson reports that Remembrance Day will be held in Cherhill again this year, DND is not sponsoring this event Brief history given of the cadet that came from Cherhill and that we were invited to attend Cherhill s Remembrance Day Ceremonies annually. When the Sangudo Legion closed it made Cherhill s turn- out bigger A list is circulated for food items for this event There are 5-6 ovens and cooks at the Legion that will help with food preparation Donna lynn asks why we need to bring all the food after the church service Lt Anderson replies that we receive a donation of $500 annually October 04, 2012 AGM Minutes for the 755 Parkland RCACS Parents Committee Association 3

NW Wing Director Report: If it is not a DND sponsored event, there should be enough food brought to cover the 45 cadets and the families that attend Food can be delivered in person, or delivered to Lt Anderson in the morning at LHQ and she will truck it there Lt Anderson asks that 60 muffins be bought from Superstore for the FTX weekend. Lori Kieser will be at that table from 11-2 pm. Someone is needed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Lori Kieser reports that we have been given a free table on Saturday s at the Stony Plain Farmer s Market until November 10 th. The hour s volunteers are needed for this event: 9-11 am and 11-1:00 pm. There is no table available for Saturday, October 13 th. YOU EFFORTS ARE APPRECIATED: like to volunteer to bring the remaining food items needed for Remembrance Day. Thank you! Thank you to all that attended the AGM meeting. The 2011/2012 survey forms showed overwhelming positive feedback.
