Board Fast Train to Tianjin This high speed train can travel up to 330km/h. Opened on 1 August 2008, the line set the record for the fastest conventional train service in the world, and reduced travel time between the two largest cities in northern China from 70 to 30 minutes. Tianjin Tianjin lies 120 kilometres southeast of Beijing. It is a historic city and the largest industrial base and trade centre in northern China. It is one of the five national central cities and is governed as a direct-controlled municipality, one of four such designations. MONDAY 23 MAY Visit the Tianjin Urban Planning and Exhibition Centre. (Partners included) VIP tour of the largest operating port in China and the Port Museum. Tianjin Port is 170 km south east of Beijing and is the start of the Asia Euro Rail Bridge. It is the largest man made seaport and river port in mainland China, trading with more than 300 ports in 160 countries and regions around the world. Lunch with Tianjin Port representatives. Tour of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city. Tianjin Eco-City is a fascinating, 30 square kilometre development designed to showcase the newest green technologies and to serve as a model for future developing Chinese cities. Designed by Surbana Urban Planning Group, it is expected to house 350,000 residents when the project is fully completed in 2020. Xi an Xi an is one of the oldest cities in China, with more than 3,100 years of history, the city was known as Chang an before the Ming Dynasty. Xi an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, is the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army. TUESDAY 24 MAY Fly to Xi an Presentation and tour of Xi an Shaanxi Automobile Group Co. Ltd/CUMMINS Engine Company Limited. Shaanxi Automobile Group Co. Ltd is one of the Top 500 enterprises of China and ranked 27th in the Top 500 China Machinery Enterprises. By November 2010 Shaanxi Automobile Group Co. Ltd had made 37.9 billion RMB in revenue and produced 159,000 units. A truck comes off the production line every 7 minutes and it takes 3.5 hours to assemble one truck. Currently they export to 44 countries with 90% going to Africa. Lunch and tour of the Horticultural Expo hosted by Xi an Municipal Bureau. WEDNESDAY 25 MAY Xi an Visit the Xi an Aerospace Science and Technology Industrial Base XEAIB for a presentation and meeting with senior representatives. In November 2006, Xi an and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation jointly set up the Xi an Aerospace Science and Technology Industrial Base. From its establishment, the base has focused on the development of the civil space industry, including equipment manufacturing, software and service outsourcing, new materials and solar photovoltaics. Tour of the Terracotta Warriors. (Partners included) The Terracotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China. The figures, dating from 210 BC, were discovered in 1974 by local farmers from the Lintong District, Xi an, Shaanxi province. Fly to Chongqing Informal dinner at hotel. Chongqing Chongqing is set to become the most economically important city in West China and is already the biggest inland city of the country with over 30 million people. It is the largest of four direct-controlled municipalities and the only one in Western China. THURSDAY 26 MAY Presentation and tour of CSIC (Chongqing) Haizhuang Windpower Equipment Co.Ltd. CSIC (Chongqing) Haizhuang Windpower Equipment Co.Ltd., founded in 2004, is an advanced technological industrial company specialising in the development and manufacturing of large wind power equipment and related main components. Meeting with COFTEC Deputy Director General, Commission of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation followed by lunch. Tour and presentation of the Liangjiang New Area. Liangjiang New Area is a new economic development and covers 1,205 square kilometres. The area is planned to be a hub for finance, manufacturing, IT, automotive and power equipment and was officially opened for development on 18 June 2010. The total completion of Liangjiang New Area is set for 2020 with the approximate GDP predicted to be over Rmb 500 billion. This will account for 25% of Chongqing s output. Shanghai Shanghai, with a population of more than 23 million is the largest and most developed city in China. The city is the commercial and financial centre of mainland China and has recorded double-digit growth for 15 consecutive years since 1992. FRIDAY 27 MAY Breakfast with Austcham at the Ritz Carlton. Lunch hosted by Michell Wool followed by a presentation and tour of Michell Wool s facility in Suzhou. Michell Wool is one of Australia s largest exporters of Australian Wool fibre and began operating in China in 1948. The company sells approximately 10 million kilograms of processed wool and commission processes a further 10 million kgs per year. Cocktails and dinner with BHP Billiton representatives. (Partners included) SATURDAY 28 MAY Presentation and tour of Bluescope Steel. BlueScope Steel Suzhou commenced operation in 2006, this facility, which involved capital investment of $A280 million, is Australia s largest manufacturing investment in China, and BlueScope Steel s largest single investment in Asia. Presentation and Tour of Kraft factory followed by afternoon tea. Kraft Foods is the global number two brand in food behind Nestle, it operates and sells in 160 companies and has 168 manufacturing facilities. Kraft s revenue in China is 50 billion RMB with 600 million RMB in revenue for the Suzhou facility. The Suzhou facility employs 3000 people with productivity at 28.36 kg per person per hour.
