New Cub Scuts and their parents can camp tgether as a Pack. Chuck Wagn Derby Saturday Octber 14 th 2017 Unit Rster Encampment: By Scuts and Cub Scut Arrw f Light invited by By Scuts check-in: Friday Octber 13 5pm-10pm Cub Scut family can camp with their Pack Friday r Saturday night (please register with Camp Carpenter separately)

Chuckwagn: Each unit must turn in a rster at registratin (attached), including the adults and scuts that are participating fr the day. NOTE: all adults accmpanying a wagn MUST BE YPT certified (n exceptins). Adult/parent withut YPT cannt accmpany a wagn. Encampment: Each unit is respnsible fr their wn rster including Cub Scuts and parents at the campsite. Fr safety reasns, a cpy f the rster shuld be available at time f campsite registratin. It is recmmended that a parent f a Cub accmpany the encampment and YPT trained. It is up t the Trp s discretin. Wagn Rster Recmmended number f Cubs per wagn is six (6) t eight (8). Maximum number is ten (10) there will be statins where ne r mre scuts will nt be able t participate. A wagn can NOT have less than fur (4) scuts agility statins can be t strenuus All scuts n a wagn will be able t participate at the statins (if less than maximum). In the tw shting events, if there are mre than 8 scuts n a wagn, the scres used will be determined by averaging. All scuts will get t sht. Each wagn may have ne adult cach/leader t assist the scuts at their statins. Other adults are nt permitted int the statins. Wagns Fllw wagn build guidelines prvided by the staff (see Attachment) Patrl flag and pack number must be displayed n the sled. All equipment needed fr the cmpetitin must fit int the wagn. See required list in Appendix. Each Cub must bring bag lunch t the cmpetitin (r Pack can prvide lunch fr the grup). Ice-chest and/r cntainer t keep lunch is required. Trash bag is required n each wagn. Unifrm / Dress All scuts and scuters shuld be in Class A unifrm during Chuck Wagn cmpetitin, Dining Hall and the Campfire. Exceptin: Lins d nt have Class A unifrms, s they can wear any apprpriate clthing. During Encampment, while in their wn campsites, class B unifrms may be wrn. Phnes All Scuts event must be prperly clthed fr the weather. Ex: Pnchs, rain-cats frm plastic lining, etc. are acceptable during rain; swim-trunks are nt. If in the pinin f the staff, a Scut is nt prperly clthed r des nt have the prper ftwear, he will nt be allwed t participate. D nt put yurself r thers at risk, BE PREPARED. Use f cell-phnes in Chuckwagn statins is prhibited. Leaders/adults shuld cllect cell-phnes frm scuts during Chuckwagn cmpetitin t prevent distractin and/r accidental damage. Exceptin: injuries and medical emergencies nly.

Medical Frms Leaders and adults are encuraged t leave their cell phnes in their pcket and nt use them in frnt f the Cubs. If yu must answer yur page r phne, be curteus and ask t be excused frm the statin area, and then return when yur cnversatin is ver. Cell phne use by scuts at campsites during Encampment is with discretin f the trp and/r leaders. Leaders fr each UNIT need t have BOTH part A and part B f the BSA medical frm fr each scut and adult attending (Chuckwagn and Encampment) Each unit is respnsible fr cllecting their wn medical frms bth Chuckwagn and Encampment (we will nt be cllecting them at registratin). Trash Carry In/Carry Out. The dumpster by the strage building shuld be used fr trash dispsal by the units, nt the cmpactr behind the Dining Hall. Vehicles / Parking ALL vehicles can be parked in the new parking lt (acrss Nurse s Statins twards the rad). N vehicles will be allwed n the rad arund the lake after 10pm Friday night until 6pm Saturday evening. The rad re-pens fr traffic Sunday 10am (after Clsing ceremnies). Only ne vehicle (and trailer) per unit/wagn can be parked at the Main Parking Lt. Space is limited, s please be advised we may have t mve yur vehicle t make sure there are enugh spaces fr every participant. One vehicle per unit is allwed n the campsites at a time t drp ff r pick up equipment, and nly at designated times stated abve. One (1) trailer may be parked at the campsite s lng as it is nt blcking the rad r the campsite. NOTE: sme f the parking areas may becme Chuckwagn statins. Observe psted speed limit f 5 m.p.h. Camp Site (Encampment) Campsites are assigned n a first-cme first-get basis at time f registratin. Pack camping is available at Silber fr packs wh are nt camping with trps (TBD) Camp Fires (Encampment) ALL campfires MUST be in an existing fire pit. NO grund fires will be allwed. Smking, Alchl & illegal drugs The use f alchl, illegal drugs r related substances at encampments r activities is stricly prhibited (Guide t Safe Scuting). Natinal BSA plicy prhibits smking and medicinal use f marijuana in frnt f yuth members. Adults needing t smke will d s behind Manning Hall r utside Camp Carpenter premises (please d nt smke in yur car in the parking lts) Scut Oath and Law

Chuck Wagn Derby Day Chuck Wagn is abut scuts putting their skills t wrk. We have eliminated mst f the questin and answer statins frm the past years events and replaced them with activity statins. We strngly encurage packs t g ver the statins list and practice. This year s Chuck Wagn curse will start at Camp Carpenter between the Main Parking Lt and Directr s Ldge. All vehicles are asked t park in the designated parking area acrss frm the Nurse s Statin twards the Cub Wrld sign. Vehicles (with trailers) carrying Pack Wagns may park in the Main Parking Lt. All thers shuld use the designated parking area. As in the past, we are requiring each wagn have 2 adults, with ne being a registered BSA leader. Bth need t have Yuth Prtectin Training (YPT). We are ging t allw 1 leader t wrk with the scuts at each statin t give them any last minute instructins. We are asking parents f Lin Cubs (especially new t Cub Scuts) t accmpany their scut but they are required t be registered and YPT trained. Other leaders, parents, and adults frm the Packs are being asked t help run statins. Each Pack is asked t run a single statin, and statins will be given ut n a first-ask, first given status. The Packs will be infrmed, in advance, if any equipment is required. Mst equipment will be prvided by the district. By Scut assistance is available als, in advance. Each statin is wrth 20 pints, mst are timed statins with the fastest time getting 20 pints, next fasted getting 19 dwn t 0. We are als giving ut beads (als knwn as Wampum beads) like in the years past fr Scut Spirit. We will NOT be scring inspectin; wagns will NOT be permitted t participate if they are missing the REQUIRED equipment. If they are missing ther equipment that is needed fr certain statins, it will be reflected in their scre fr that statin.

APPENDIX Equipment List: The fllwing equipment is REQUIRED fr all wagns. Nt having this equipment may result in the wagn being prevented frm participating. A Den r Patrl sized First Aid Kit Lunch and/r snacks fr all participants Water (individual water bttle per participant r grup water jug with cups). Trash bags fr lunch cleanup, picking up any garbage alng the trail. Apprpriate clthing (rain-gear, warm jacket, etc.) Apprpriate ftwear (hiking bts, n pen-te ftwear) fr all participants. A puch r string fr carrying Wampum s 36 (3-feet) f Rpe (any type) per participant An American Flag (3 x5 minimum) Each participant MUST BE in Class A unifrm unless the participant is a Lin. There is n inspectin statin with pints, hwever, yu will be asked t perfrm simple tasks t assure the wagn is in gd shape. When the wagn is registered, yu will be asked t shw the required items at check-in. There may be a unifrm inspectin. The fllwing equipment is nt required, but is recmmended. Encampment Weekend This year we are planning n ffering the By Scut trps their wn prgram fr the weekend. If we are shrt f adult leaders t run statins fr the Chuckwagn, we may ask Trps t dnate sme adults and yuth t assist. We are hping t avid that. We are pen t prviding a prgram fr the Trps in the mrning as a preparatin fr the afternn structured prgram, but we are making it ptinal s the Trps may use that time t wrk n their wn prgram with their yuth. In the afternn, there will be planned activities fr the Patrls. We are currently planning an Emergency Preparedness Disaster Drill. The patrls will be able t help with Search and Rescue, First Aid, Disaster Management and Recvery. These drills will be based n requirements fr the Emergency Preparedness and First Aid Merit Badges, and there will be Merit Badge Cuncilrs available t sign blue cards fr Scuts that have them. We will prvide a detailed list f the requirements we will be cvering t trps fr their wn recrds. As with any prgram, we will need adults t help with the statins. Planning meetings will be annunced via emails and at Rundtable. All trps are encuraged t send adults t help. After the Disaster Drill, the trps will have time fr dinner. Fllwing dinner will be an Interfaith Service, fllwed by an Order f the Arrw Callut Ceremny and a Campfire (place TBD). Please have sngs, skits and cheers preplanned fr the evening. Emergency Preparedness Disaster Drill In light f the recent hurricane disasters, we will be cnducting a drill f ur wn geared twards disasters f this regin. Emergency Preparedness and First Aid are tw Merit Badge Requirements that can be started (r finished) during this event. Sme elements f Search and Rescue Merit Badge will be discussed, hwever, it is nt the primary event. Cub Scuts and Cub Scut leaders nt participating in Chuckwagn are welcme t watch but it may be t intense fr yunger scuts. There are tw parts f this event: 1) Classrm lessns n basic First Aid and Emergency Preparedness (in the mrning) 2) Practice Drill with victim actrs.
