Page 2 of 7 President s Report After a three and a half weeks overseas I am now back and refreshed to venture on with the RDHA. The RDHA also have a couple of events coming up. On the 10 th July, I was invited by Karen Andrews MP, to afternoon tea with the Prime Minister the HON Tony Abbott on the Gold Coast. I could not contain my excitement. It was a pleasant afternoon with about 250 people there and had the opportunity of a photo shoot with the PM. The next Dog Lovers Show is coming up and will be held in Sydney at the Royal Hall of Industries & the Hordern Pavilion on the weekend of the 15 th and 16 th August 2015. It will once again feature the Tribute to the Australian Military Working Dog. Guest Presenters will be Nigel Allsopp from the Australian War Animal Organisation, AWAMO, Cpl Webb, EDD Handler from 2AFSEC Amberley and myself representing the RDHA. So, if you happen to be living in Sydney or passing by, call in and pay us a visit and if you re lucky, I may introduce you to our Patron, CPL Mark Donaldson VC. We have also been invited back to Caboolture for the Australian National Flag Day Celebrations. They have also asked us to contribute some memorabilia towards their new Aviation Wing display. Kim Hodges is on the road to recovery after his unexpected heart attack. Kiwi Campbell is recovering well in a New Zealand hospital and the nursing staff are pleased with his progress and is expected to have a full recovery. I believe that Donald Blue Byrnes is now in a nursing home in Ipswich along with his wife Joyce. I have just spoken to the staff at the Nursing Home and they have told me that Blue is doing well and shares a room with Joyce. We with them all the very best. It is with sadness that we have lost another member. Greg Barney Price passed away on the 8 th July 2015 after a long battle with cancer. All out sincere condolences to his family at this time. Page 5 of 7 General Business: Item 1. New Members accepted into the RDHA. Alexandra Brauns current MWDH posted to 3SECFOR MWD RAAF Base Pearce, Bullsbrook WA. Terry Adair ex-police Dog Handler now living in Victoria and his wife Giegie. We now have a total of 186 members. Proposed by Terry McMullan that a letter of invitation go out to all SNCO s IC of Military Working Dog Sections to distribute to all MWDH under their control, an invitation to join the RDHA. Moved: Ray Thomas Seconded: Terry McMullan that the above mentioned new member and that a letter be distributed to all MWD Sections inviting them to join the RDHA be accepted. Item 2. Lyn Gadsby Received an email from Lyn Gadsby thanking us for the support she received from the RDHA and to inform us that she would like for the RDHA to take her off the mailing list and as an Associated Member due to the fact that she does not know any of the members since the passing of Glen and that she is going on an extended holiday overseas. Australia National Flag Day celebrations Received an email from Bob Whitehouse President of the Caboolture Historical Village requesting the presents of the RDHA to the Australian National Flag Day celebrations and the official opening of the new Aviation Museum. Proposed that the RDHA attends the Australian National Flag Day celebrations and the official opening of the new Aviation Museum on Saturday 5 th September 2015. Item 4. Items for static displays The RDHA has been asked to supply items for permanent static displays for a number of venues such as the new Aviation Museum, Caboolture, RAAF Museum, RAAF Amberley and a semi-permanent display in Toowoomba for four months as a lead up to the opening of a large War Animal Monument in 2016. The RDHA will have to purchase or acquire some full size mannequins to show off our uniform and equipment. Also an arrangement of photos, videos and dog equipment. We are asking if anyone would like to donate any of these items for the museums.

The results have been returned to the President and the results are below. We will look into the venues for the ANZAC Day march 2016 and will be looking at the possibility of Gleneld for the Dawn Service and then Adelaide for the March. Letters to the respective organisations will be drafted then sent off including the CO 3SECFOR to ask permission to march behind the Military Working Dog Handlers and Dogs on the day. Area Reps in the Adelaide area, Kol Kajanto and Kev Couzner along with Chrissy Millard will assist in the organisation of the AGM and ANZAC Day. Sydney Dog Lovers Show - Tribute to the Australian Military Working Dog The RDHA has been invited to participate in the Sydney Dog Lovers Show - Tribute to the Australian Military Working Dog on the weekend of 15 th / 16 th August 2015 at the Royal Hall of Industries and the Hordern Pavilion, Sydney. See attached program. Ray Thomas will attend as a Presenter as he did for the Melbourne Show. Over 27,000 people attended the Melbourne and approximately 15,000 people are expected to attend the Sydney Show.
