39th Arras Bourse d Echanges Enjoy a short break to Arras & Enjoy one of Northern France s Most Popular Classic Car Events Although billed as a Bourse d Echanges (that s translates to 'autojumble' to you and me), this event is organised by Club Ravera/6A and annually takes place on the 3rd Sunday in March. It is however so much more, featuring a 500-space car park reserved for vehicles more than 30 years old. Think of French manufacturers and you'll come up with Citroen, Peugeot and Renault after which you'll start to struggle, but just like Britain, France has had a long and illustruious array of makes and most of them are represented at Arras. One of the two halls of the Artois Expo contains an extensive autojumbe the other houses an impressive car display many of which are from the UK. Arras, with its fine old centre, is one of the prettiest towns in northern France and is an ancient town full of magnificent gothic architecture which gives it an air of grandeur. There is something of interest around every corner, whatever your tastes may be, and plenty of shops for some serious retail therapy. 3 DAY / 2 NIGHT TOURS From 129.00* Per Person Return P&O Ferry Crossing Dover/Calais See below for Euro Tunnel or other ferry supplements 2 Nights Hotel Accommodation Buffet Breakfast each morning Full day Battlefield Run (Saturday) Admission to the Arras Car Show (Sunday) Detailed Road Book with maps, directions and event & local attraction information Commemorative Tour Rally Plate * Above prices are per person and based on 2 person occupying a car and room. Holiday Inn Express Arras As well as hosting one of Europe's most diverse car festivals Arras is steeped in History. Arras was the only town in France to occupy a front-line position for the duration of the Great War. Early on in the war the town was almost levelled so the remaining occupants retreated underground along with 24,000 British soldiers and prepared for the Battle of Arras. The Battle of Arras is believed to be one of the greatest surprise attacks in human history. Because of its history dotted around its unique Northern French architecture you will find many places of remembrance scattered about Arras. Due to the location Arras is in a historical location of Europe. Going back to the early Roman Empire Arras was at the cross road of England and mainland Europe. This can be seen in its design and architecture created over time by the great flows of various European civilisations. From the Citadel to Saint-Vaast Abbey down to the Lower Town enjoy a trip through time. Holiday Inn Express Arras is located in the city centre, opposite the train station.
