However, the beginnings of intensive tourism date back to 1855 when Arnold Rikli recognised Bled s natural resources, namely clean and invigorating Alpine air, healing thermal waters and the many days of sunshine a year and founded his famous health resort. In an effort to preserve these extraordinary natural properties, we are developing a range of sustainable products to enable our guests an even closer contact with the natural environment. In the early 20th century, Bled was widely considered one of the most beautiful spa resorts in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was a popular, fashionable destination for European aristocracy. The town maintained its reputation as a sophisticated health resort in the time between the wars. The summer residence of choice for the Karađorđević royal family, it was known as a lively centre of political and diplomatic life. After World War II, Bled was frequented by President Tito, who chose Vila Bled for his residence and hosted a number of famous statesmen and other major political and cultural figures there. NEW CONFERENCE CENTRE The new conference centre comprises four multipurpose, interconnected conference halls that can accommodate from 60 up to 120 people. The Prešeren I and II Halls can hold up to 70 people each; alternatively, they can be connected into a single hall for hosting large social or business events. 590 CONFERENCE ROOMS In addition to the new conference centre, there are four conference rooms situated on the higher floors of the Hotel Park, offering a pleasant environment for training seminars, workshops and smaller meetings (up to 45 participants).
