During the Norwegian Sjøsikkerhetskonferansen (sea safety conference) yesterday 28 September, it was revealed that Viking Cruises are working on what would be the world s first zero-emission cruise ship, a project that apparently has a high priority at Viking Cruises. Fincantieri and STX France deal done The dispute over the Fincantieri / STX France deal has now reportedly been solved with the French and Italian leaders coming to an agreement on Wednesday (27 September) at a Franco-Italian summit held in Lyon. Stena to beef up freight capacity between Rotterdam and UK Shippax previously reported on 30 July about Stena Line s plan to increase their freight capacity between Rotterdam (Europoort) to Harwich as of January 2018 by replacing the two current RoRo vessels with two larger ones. Now Stena Line has announced that also their Rotterdam-Killingholme route will get added capacity as of January 2018, lifting their overall capacity from Europoort with some 20%.
Koncept Stockholm to design interior of Viking Line s Xiamen newbuilding Viking Line has given more details about the interior design of its new LNGpowered cruise ferry for the Stockholm- Åland-Turku route. Metal Shark to build one more high-speed craft for Hornblower Hornblower has placed an order for one more ferry from Metal Shark for its NYC Ferry Service. This comes on top of the four orders placed in early August. The new order is for a 26m and 150- passenger USCG Subchapter T vessel,
whilst the four from August are for 30m and 350-passenger USCG Subchapter K vessels. RED EAGLE to receive major refurbishment Red Funnel s RED EAGLE will undergo a GBP 3m refurbishment programme, starting in January 2018, and with completion in time for the summer timetable starting on 29 March.
