ABOUT ATNS Air Traffic and Navigation Services SOC Limited (ATNS) provides air traffic, navigation, training and associated services within South Africa. ATNS is responsible for Air Traffic Control throughout South Africa and a large part of the Southern Indian and Atlantic Ocean, comprising approximately 10% of the world s airspace. ATNS operates from 9 ACSA and 12 other aerodromes. As a globally competitive employer of choice, ATNS is committed to diversity and has achieved ranking within the top ten companies in South Africa with regards to female representation at executive levels. Our vision To be the preferred supplier of Air Traffic Management solutions and associated services to the African Continent and selected international markets. Our mission To provide safe, expeditious and efficient Air Traffic Management solutions and associated services. Our services extend beyond Air Traffic Control services into the provision of vitally important aeronautical information used for all flight planning purposes as well as search and rescue coordination activities, and the maintenance of a reliable navigation infrastructure.

ATNS S PRODUCTS AND SERVICES Flight Procedure Design and Cartography This division offers design and verification of flight procedures and airspace development. It aims to add value by designing safe and efficient instrument and non-instrument procedures that will allow optimisation of operational capabilities. The full design is then translated into a usable navigation plan, a visual representation of the full flight procedure, overlaid on accurate map information. This service is conducted in accordance with ICAO s Standards and Recommended Practices as complemented by ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standards. ISO 9001:2000 certification was achieved in 1998, and is maintained. Airspace Design This division has the capability to design and review all airspace types as defined by ICAO. These include, but are not limited to, control zones, terminal manoeuvring areas and flight information regions. Furthermore, air routes based on conventional navigation aids as well as RNPrestricted routes can be designed to client requirements.

Engineering Services ATNS plans, specs, acquires and implements the South African national aeronautical Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) system. We offer professional consultative services to other Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) in support of their national development programmes. These services can be provided on an hourly, job, or turnkey basis: Communication, navigation and surveillance system design Coverage planning and site selection Radio frequency planning Communication, navigation and surveillance system specification Acquisition management services Project management services Training The ATNS Aviation Training Academy (ATA) utilises computerbased training, radar simulators, engineering laboratories and 2D/3D aerodrome simulators to the highest industry and safety standards. Since April 2000, the ATNS ATA has trained more than 8 000 international and local delegates. The ATNS ATA is also the regional training centre for the Africa Indian Ocean region s IATA and ICAO training. Various training programmes are offered to prepare graduates for a successful professional career in air traffic services and engineering support. Upper Airspace Management The objective of the UACC is to provide for the seamless regional provision of CNS/ATM services, above 24 500 feet. The concept of regional centralisation of these types of services has been successfully tested and implemented overseas. ATNS can provide Upper Airspace Management to various states in Africa, with harmonised infrastructure.

VSAT/NAFISAT The SADC VSAT Network has been operational since 1998 and has virtually eliminated all communication deficiencies in the SADC region. This network fulfils the region s communication requirements in terms of the ICAO Africa Indian Ocean plan. It has succeeded in integrating a regional communications network, contributing to increased communication, allowing for greater safety on air traffic movements, and is financially sustainable. WGS-84 Survey ATNS s Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) has the operational and technical capability to provide a professional consultancy and surveying service in the field of aeronautical WGS-84 surveying. This service is conducted in accordance with ICAO s Standards and Recommended Practices as complemented by ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standards. ISO 9001:2000 certification was achieved in 1998, and is maintained. Aeronautical Information Services ATNS s Aeronautical Information Services provide a professional consultancy and production service in aeronautical documentation, including Notices to Airmen (NOTAMS), pre-flight information bulletins (PIB), Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) and AIP supplements. ATNS is also able to provide extensive data through our fully equipped library of static information and our mapping and satellite services that provide dynamic data. Billing And Collections Management Currently, ATNS is the one of the only ANSPs on the Continent that does its own billing, while other ANSPs may be required to utilise outside service providers. ATNS possesses the experience, expertise and infrastructure to properly manage the billing and collection system for other ANSPs. Our relationships with users is such that we are able to collect tariffs accurately and timeously, enabling improved planning in order to adequately fund operations.

ABOUT THE AVIATION TRAINING ACADEMY The ATNS Aviation Training Academy (ATA) is an International Air Transport Association (IATA) Regional Training Partner. In 2013, the ATNS ATA received, for the third year running, the IATA Worldwide Regional Training Partner Award. The ATNS ATA is a fully accredited training organisation, certified to offer up to three-year diploma-level courses, and is registered on the National Qualifications Framework. ATNS takes pride in the fact that the ATNS ATA is recognised as a worldclass training institution by the international aviation community. The ATNS Aviation Training Academy also received ICAO Trainair Plus associate membership in 2012. The development of standard training packages is core to increasing the product portfolio of the ATNS ATA. The ATNS ATA was successfully audited by various international Civil Aviation Authorities and has received preferred training service provider status from a number of these authorities. Lasting training relationships have been established with, among others: Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Angola Civil Aviation Authority, Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.
