NORTHWINDS July 2016 Brought to you by Wayne & Fredericka of Windermere NorCal Properties Porsche Club of America Shasta Region Inc. P.O. Box 991564 Redding, CA July 2016 PCA Shasta Region Tourmeister Report by Allen C. Krohn The weather was very cooperative for our July Shasta region Porsche Tour. It was an unusually cool summer day with clear skies and a slight breeze. Tourmeister Report We started in Redding, headed down I-5 to Red Bluff where we joined the rest of the Tour group. Together, we totaled 13 Porsches and 23 occupants. There were six Boxster's four 911/Carrera's, two Caymans and one Panamera. From there our route took us Northeast up SR 36 to Mineral. We always like to take the "172 detour" round the east entrance to Lassen Park which is not only scenic but a spirited drive, and today was no exception. After a photo opportunity astride Mill Creek Meadow, we stopped for lunch at a destination we had yet to try on any of our previous tours. The Highlands Ranch Resort had just opened about a year ago. The restaurant and Lodge were spectacular, the service great and the food wonderful. This will definitely be a stopover on future tours. From there, we continued Northeast on 36 to the junction of Highway 32 and headed back down Deer Creek Canyon to Chico for our final stop at the Starbucks on Forest Avenue. For those of us in Redding, it was a 225-mile loop, and we enjoyed every bit of it. Several people posted great pictures on Facebook for all of us to enjoy----thank you to those that did. Congratulations to Mike Morrison, who won the poker hand with Queens over Sixes! I am not allowed to divulge the extent of his winnings, but suffice it to say it was HUGE. Our next Tour is August 14th. We will go through Lassen Park from the West, starting in Redding via SR 44. Lunch will again be at the Highlands Ranch Resort. The return leg will be Southwest on SR 36. NEXT MEETING Thursday, August 14, 2016 Marie Calendar's Hilltop Drive, Redding Logan s Road House, Chico Mall, Chico 6:00 Dinner & Social 7:00 Meeting 8:00 Meeting Adjourns

Shasta Region Zone 7-2016 Tour Schedule by Allen Krohn Save These Tour Dates! We will have "spontaneous Mini- Tours" throughout the year, typically on a Saturday or Sunday. Watch for email announcements the week before. Tour #7 -- Aug 14 REVISED Next month, we will scrap the Etna Tour since the latest on Buckhorn Summit is that it is in even worse shape than we had thought. So we will go through Lassen Park instead (we haven't done that route for a couple of years, anyway). An added benefit is that we will get to have lunch at the Highlands again. One of our "breaks" will be at the summer retreat of the Bonessa's (Brian and Maureen) who have a cabin near Viola. More details to follow... Tour #8 -- Sep 16-19 Tahoe & Yosemite via Tioga Pass OVERNIGHT-3 Hwy 36 to 89 with Lunch in Graeagle; Dinner at Harrah's South Shore; Overnight at the Montbleu; Overnight at the Tenaya Lodge. Sunday Brunch at the grand Ahwanhee Hotel. Dinner x2 at Tenaya. Tour through Yosemite Valley and over Glacier Point. Return through Hwy 49 Gold Country. Tour # 9 -- Oct 16 Chico/Thunderhill/Stony Gorge Res./Black Butte/Farwood Grille (Meet at 8:00/Leave 8:30) Weather Alternate Date:, Oct 15 or 23--same time and route 4 hr 35 min 231 miles from Redding to Redding; Chico to Redding Total Drive = 3:37 and 170 miles Tour #10 -- Nov 13 Balls Ferry/Dersch/Dry Creek/Jones Valley/Bridge Bay (Meet at 8:30/leave at 9:00)) Weather Alternate Date: Nov 12 or 20th--same time and route. 1hr 23 min; 53 miles plus 25 min and 15 miles plus 30 min break (Holiday Market) 20 min photo-op = 3 hrs and 68 miles including lunch at The Cookhouse Stay Tuned For Our Up Coming Track Days!

In The Zone- By Sandy Provasi Parade wrapped up at Jay Peak Resort, Vermont at the end of June. One of the highlights for Zone 7 was Sacramento Valley Region receiving the PCA National Region of the Year trophy. Way to go SVR! The Golden Gate Zone Concours will be at Carlson Porsche, which always draws a crowd. Join us on August 7 th, in Redwood City. August is a very busy month in the Provasi house. Tom is the Chair of Werks Reunion, a gathering of Porsches on Friday, August 19, during car week in Monterey County. Last year 800 cars were present and parked by model. You can enter the Concours or the Corral. There are great door prizes for all who sign up, like a chance to win a trip to Le Mans 2017, a trip to the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta or Michelin tires! Bring a picnic or just wander around. You are sure to see some great cars and enthusiast. This event takes many volunteers to make it happen. We are always looking for a few more volunteers to help direct cars, do check in or help as needed. Contact Sharon Neidel at sharonneidel@yahoo.com to volunteer for Werks. Also, during car week in Monterey, the Rolex Monterey at Laguna Seca from Friday Aug. 19-21 is happening. PCA will have a Car Corral at the inside of turn 5 on Sat/Sun. The corral is sold out, but you can still come by the tent with your Porsche key for a cool drink and good spot to watch the races. Save the date for Parade next summer. The 62 nd Porsche Parade will be held in Spokane, Washington from July 9-15, 2017. It is a nice drive in your Porsche for a week in Spokane with fellow PCA members. Looking forward- Treffen at Squaw Valley, Sept. 7-11 Redwood Region Zone Concours #6 at Ledson Winery, Sept. 18th LPR/GGR zone Autocross weekend #6/7, Sept. 24-25th Yosemite Region Zone Concours #7 at Livermore Porsche, Oct. 9th
