COLEG LLANDRILLO CYMRU STUDENTS TRANSPORT 20/202 Introduction This publication provides information on towns and villages served by free College bus transport available to all eligible 6-9 year old full-time students from Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire Counties who attend Coleg Llandrillo Cymru, Rhos-on-Sea. In addition to the College bus services, if you live in Conwy or Denbighshire the College may organise, a network of taxi transport to connect with College buses. Students who live three or more miles away from the closest bus stops mentioned may be eligible for this service. For further information please contact the Transport Co-ordinator. No Smoking Policy Please note that it is now against the law to smoke on any college buses, taxis, minibuses or any public transport. Smoking Enforcement Officers may travel on the buses and if any student is caught smoking may be issued with a 50 on the spot fine which the person caught is liable to pay. If students are caught smoking then the entitlement to free transport may be removed and alternative transport arrangements will have to be made by the student with no reimbursement from the College. Eligibility All eligible 6-9 year old full-time students living more than three miles from the College and within three miles of the listed pick up locations are expected to use the College transport detailed in this leaflet. No reimbursement will be made to students travelling by other means of transport. An exception to this rule is made for those students where the classes continue after 5 pm. Such students will be expected to give the Transport Co-ordinator details on a weekly basis and alternative transport arrangements will be made. Students under the age of 9 who are resident in Ynys Mon need to apply to their Local Education Authority (LEA) for help with transport costs. If the Council will not help with these costs then you need to apply to the Transport Co-ordinator at the College to see if any financial help is available. The College may allow full-time students under the age of 9 from these counties to travel on the existing network of College buses subject to availability, please contact the Transport Co-ordinator to organise this but a charge will be incurred. If help is not available from the LEA or the Advice & Guidance centre then please contact the Transport Co-ordinator to discuss further discounted travel options available to you. Full-time and part-time HE students of all ages are not entitled to travel on the College buses free of charge, but can if they wish buy a weekly Arriva bus pass at the current rate which is.00 per week. This can be bought weekly from Arriva who will be in the Heartspace reception area of the Rhos-on-Sea campus three days a week currently Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or buy directly on the bus showing a valid bus pass or buy termly or annually from the Arriva website on www.arrivabus.co.uk/students. This option is also available to any student who does not get free transport; or any student who wishes to travel on public transport. Bus Passes Students wishing to use College transport at no charge must have and provide a valid bus pass on each journey, or in case of emergency, a valid temporary authority to travel (available from college reception no later than 3.30 pm on the day of travel). It should be noted that temporary authority to travel forms are not valid on any public service routes operated by Arriva North West. Failure to comply with the requirement to always have possession of a valid bus pass (or, where permissible, an official temporary authority to travel form issued by college reception) may result in a refusal to allow boarding of the vehicle or, in the case of public service routes, the appropriate full fare being charged. The College will not refund such excess fares. Please ensure that you have your pass or authority to travel available for inspection when boarding the vehicle and when travelling on college transport, otherwise transport may be refused. Page of 5

COLEG LLANDRILLO CYMRU STUDENTS TRANSPORT 20/202 During the initial few weeks at the start of the academic year students using public service routes may not have been issued with their bus passes. Such students may receive a refund of their bus fares by calling at the College finance desk and completing the appropriate claim form. Use of College Bus Services All services, except where public service vehicles are involved, will use the College coach park (situated on the upper level of the College campus) for arrivals and departures. Passengers are advised that timings shown on this leaflet are advisory only and whilst every effort will be made to maintain the schedules it is recommended that passengers arrive at their pick up point at least five minutes before the scheduled departure time. All services, except where public service vehicles are involved, are scheduled to arrive at Coleg Llandrillo by 8.50 a.m. each day and depart from the College at 5.0 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 4.0 p.m. (Friday only) and operate the reverse of the incoming route.
